A group of us came here last week for a birthday, and found the place to be slightly understaffed for the number of people in there, meaning a twenty minute wait at the bar just to order some drinks. However, the staff were all wonderful and were more than happy to move us upstairs when the downstairs area was too cramped. They also stored a birthday cake for us, were very friendly and provided a great atmosphere.
However, the food was quite a let down. We all ordered at the same time but NOTHING was served at the same time (strangely this included multiples of the same main?), and there was a nearly twenty minute wait between meals so by the time everything had arrived half of it was cold. The portions were tiny considering the price (£9.50 for a tiny bowl of tagine and £7.50 for what was essentially a pitta bread and a small piece of halloumi). Looking at the other reviews here, possibly this is more a place to go for lunch to have some sharing platters rather than for dinner. Probably wouldn't go back, given the wealth of other restaurants in Brighton. read more
