My best mate and I share the same birthday and take the day off every year, hang out, be lazy and do cool shit. For the last 3 years we have gone here for breakfast every birthday and sat in the conservatory - last year we stayed for 4 hours and about 4 friends came ate and went. It's just plain great. Lots of cake too if it's your birthday.

The Blue Legume has a myriad of inexpensive vegetarian, fish and meat dishes. If you intending to eat here then be clever and grab a seat by the bar with its mosiac tables because it does get busy. They do have an airy conservatory at the back for large group bookings. Try the smoothies, fruit juices, eggs cooked in several different ways and alsp special delights like organic waffles accompanied by a fruit platter and maple syrup. for brunch. At night the ambience changes with the candles, soundtrack of easy listeneing jazz complementing a decent wine list. The cuisine is Turkish inspired, the pies de resistance being the aubergine parcel with roasted vegetables crowned with goat's cheese, and leave some room for the legendary lemon cheesecake.

Super comfy chairs, nice long tables, perfect for getting a large group of people together and some cute decor. The staff are super friendly and the server realty took time to talk us through the menu and make recommendations. And I think they charged practically half of the tables phones too, which was fabulous! Totally saved me! Food wise, it's a bit on the pricey side and the portions aren't massive, you'll need a platter and a side each if you wanna eat a fair sized meal. This will come to around £15-18, but the quality is very good! I got the hot fish platter and mmm it was delicious! The wine and beer menu is very extensive which impressed and I tried out a very strange sounding IPA called Galaxy.. No, its not chocolate flavoured, before you ask. That was super strong at 6.5% and is definitely worth trying if you're an IPA drinker. All in all, if you want somewhere with a chilled out vibe for a date night or a meal with a group of friends, this could well be your spot!

A friend of mine holds a monthly event here called the Sunday Shake Off Brunch (a blues dancing and…read moreskills share event - you should check it out!), and I was very impressed with the venue today. We use a room downstairs - fairly small but perfect for our needs, with a DJ booth space in one corner, and a small bar in the opposite corner (we use this as a place to rest our drinks, etc, which are ordered upstairs. There is a bar with stools down one side of the room, sofas lining the other side and one wall has a mirror lining it. Today the room seemed to be decorated with a space theme (not for us but we enjoyed it), and they started taking the decorations down once we were done, so who knows what we'll have next time! One of the sections of our event also involved glitter getting everywhere, and they were fine with that (with advance warning!). They serve brunch until 3pm today upstairs, but we pre-ordered ours and sat down as one big group at 3pm to eat - they were happy to help us rearrange all the tables so that we could sit together properly, rather than in split tables of two or four. The brunch menu is small but varied, from salmon to duck to avocado, and the poached eggs are perfect (and fresh! The yolks are BRIGHT and rich)! The coffees were great too, and there were deals on alcohol but I did not partake on this occasion... Almost most importantly though, the staff were really friendly and helpful! An overall lovely experience, it's a shame Haunt is so far out of my way in the general day to day! Thoroughly recommended.

Mother Mash…read morewas such a great find, and I loved that you get to customize practically every step of your meal. Step 1: Choose your mash. So many options to choose from, but I went with the Champ, a traditional Irish mash with butter, cheddar, and spring onions. Silky, buttery smooth, and absolutely packed with flavour. Step 2: Pick your banger. I went with the Cumberland, a classic British pork sausage with pepper. Super flavourful and the perfect match for that creamy mash. What a banger of a banger! But we weren't stopping there. We also ordered their Steak and Blackheart Stout Pie, one of their classics. So so tasty! For this one, I went with the horseradish mash, which had loads of that lovely horseradishy goodness. Then we topped it off with Tracklements Spitfire Chilli Mustard. What an incredible combination! The richness of the steak and stout, the punch of the horseradish, and that spicy mustard all worked beautifully together. To wash it all down, I tried the local Gosnells Raspberry Hibiscus Nectar. First time having a nectar, and I'm hooked! Fruity, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. I seriously need to find this back home in Vancouver. Great British comfort food, generous flavours, and the fun of building your own plate. Mother Mash definitely delivered. If this is how our London food adventures are starting, we're off to a very good start!

Huge thank you to the team! I also noticed the restaurant was completely full and cozy of happy customers, which was great to see. If you're looking for classic bangers and mash in London, this is the place to get it. The customizability is incredible: just pick your main or pie, choose a mash, and drown it in gravy. With so many combination options, there are truly zero wrong answers. . A highlight was being introduced to Tracklements Spitfire Chilli Mustard--it was so good we had to ask where we could buy a jar! To top off a great meal, it was such a lovely surprise to learn that the owner used to live in Vancouver! Great food and wonderful staff! It does get very busy, so just be patient with the line; it's well worth the wait!

This summer I have paid two visits, on both occasions sitting outside enjoying the warm evening and later twilight. The beer garden stretches back a long way from the building, and it is flanked by a water channel, the Coppermill Stream, which flows past the pub, across Ferry Lane, and south to join the Lea at Coppermill Bridge on Walthamstow Marsh. There's a white picket fence at the edge of the beer garden, and extensive reeds growing on both banks of the stream, and the view beyond is towards the reservoirs, so there are no buildings in sight, only some nearby electricity pylons. With all this, and swans and geese swimming by in the water, it feels almost rural. I'm not sure when the pub was built but I believe there's been an inn on this site for many years. I would say the current building dates from the early nineteenth century, and the interior feels quite characterful -- as someone else said, rather like a country pub, with lots of nooks and crannies. I can't comment on the food as I didn't order any, but I saw people tucking into burgers that looked pretty appetising. I would imagine the food is a bit like Wetherspoon's fare but I didn't look at the menu to see what else they serve. On the ale side, on both occasions I visited I found about three hand-pumps in operation. I can't remember what the standard offerings were but on my first visit I had the guest Butcombe Bitter, which was very good and tasted in top condition. Last night I had something called Sunbeam, a sweetish golden ale that was again in great condtion and very enjoyable. The price for my pint was £3.50, which is not expensive for London these days.

So I had the beef pie instead. The beef pie was good with the side of mashed potatoes, but like a few girls I know would say, I've had better. Overall, a good place, especially for the location and I, will try it again. hopefully on my second visit, I will be able to get the Sunday roast, and hopefully, it will be worth another star in my review.

Excellent Sunday roast!…read more We came here for Easter dinner and not disappointed! The staff here is warm and welcoming. I was worried that they would run out of roast so the hostess had me email her our order ahead of time. She was super accommodating! We started with some cocktails and wine. The chicken came with Yorkshire puddings for both us! They were AMAZING! I now love Yorkshire puddings, but who wouldn't?! They're flakey on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside! Yum! It also came with veggies, potatoes and stuffing balls! We had a food baby at the end! My dad had a spinach and Ricotta Wellington with a Yorkshire pudding as well! Tillie was our server and I wanted to make her my friend! The sweetest smile, the kindest personality and demeanor. It was like a warm hug being served by here. I came in convinced we were going to do the chef's choice meal but there were too many specific dishes we wanted to try so we went in that direction. Started with the rip and dip platter with GF bread. Pitas looked amazing but the GF bread worked great too. The smoked cod dip was unreal. For mains we shared the fried halloumi, sea bream, chicken and calamari. That fried halloumi has been in my head for days now, I'm obsessed. Nothing special about the calamari but the sea bream was bright, nutty and delicious. And the chicken was juicy and the sauce was addictive, I couldn't stop eating it. We got the med cheesecake for dessert and the sourness of the cheese paired with the crunchy kataifi was so good! I can't stop talking about this place and will visit again later this year. Some personal favorites are the pork and feta sausages which are so comparable to the kind of sausage you'd have camping in the mountains in the States that my sentimentality is for back home rather than the Mediterranean! More on theme is the lightly fried aubergine skewer which is one of the most delicious preperations of eggplant that I've ever had. The greek salad is small but radiating with fresh flavor - you'll be surprised that something so simple as so satisfying. Less tasty is the chicken - I've tried this a couple of times and while the chicken is relatively juicy the seasoning is just a bit on the bland side to really resonate. I have also tried the trout which is near indistinguisable from salmon - not necessarily a bad thing and certainly the fish is fresh but ultimately it's not that exciting of a dish. Overall Brother Marcus is definitely a good spot and especially if you're in Canary Wharf which has a spotty upmarket restaurant scene. Go for it.
