    Dedicated vegan-friendly options!

Amazing vegan 'fish' cakes! Some of the most delicious bites we had in London. Great staff- friendly, attentive, great space. We ate at the one table outside. Inside decor is fresh. Take-away Walk-Up window available. Highly recommend a visit if you're even remotely in the area!

**Cash only** Great place for a vegan "fish" & chips fix and the vegan prawns are just amazing! Service was friendly and pricing was very modest. The only reason it's not a 5 star rating is it takes a little while to get your food when you order.

    So good !

Great food, best fish and chips in London! Just wish that they would let you pay by card, it's a lot of cash for a chippy.

The shop itself always seems to be busy which is great because it means you don't get stuck with a piece of fish that has been resting under a heat lamp all day and your chips are still nice and crispy, not soggy with grease. Personally I'm not a fan of battered fish with its skin still on though because it never seems to crisp up nicely, it just gets a bit soggy. This is not a phenomena unique to the Paradise Fish Bar though so I do have to forgive it. Paradise is obviously very popular with a lot of the locals and school kids. On your walk up to Newington Green its rare not to see at least a few people holding bags of chips soaked in salt and vinegar. The service is always quick and friendly and the prices very reasonable. Paradise also makes a very welcome break from all the fried chicken chains which seem to dominate the area. I'd take fish, chips and mushy peas over greasy fried chicken and limp straw fries any day of the week.

The new owners have invested in different oil, which certainly has made the chips (and fried fish) much more crispy. The first time I went back over after they changed hands, I had a bag of chips, which I ate ALL of.....including the crispy bits, which I'm not a great fan of. Some of the prices have gone up a bit (chips are now £1.20 from £1), but you can get fish & chips from £4.50, which is pretty good for this day and age. I have to confess that I'm in there once a week now, so trust me, you will give it a go, and I'm also sure you'll love it too. Alan

We…read moreordered three sets of the fish tacos, one small fish and chips and one order of prawn tacos. Firstly the food didn't arrive after waiting for 1 hour and 10 minutes. We the approached the staff Inside (as nobody was coming out serve us) to ask for it to be taken away instead as it was starting to be cold outside. Once we had asked for the food to be prepared in take away boxes, the owner/chef got irate and started to swear in our direction saying that it would take another 30 minutes to put the food in boxes. After waiting for the food for another 10 minutes, the food arrived, we paid and then left. No apology was made from the staff which was incredible considering the time we had waited. On getting home and opening the takeaway boxes, the tacos did not contain any avocado which was advertised on the menu. The flour tortillas were stone cold and doughy, and it contained uncooked largely chopped bell peppers. Overall it tasted like a side salad dumped in to an uncooked tortilla. I would heavily recommend against the beach hut if you're after fish and chips In the Islington area. You would be much better off heading along Upper Street and going to Kennedy's.

The Beach Hut has a lovely seaside vibe and is run by a family. We played chess while waiting for our food, which was all freshly cooked. The reason this isn't 5 stars is because our whitebait wasn't as crispy as it should be, but the fishcake was great and the portions were generous. Strong 4/5.

Super comfy chairs, nice long tables, perfect for getting a large group of people together and some cute decor. The staff are super friendly and the server realty took time to talk us through the menu and make recommendations. And I think they charged practically half of the tables phones too, which was fabulous! Totally saved me! Food wise, it's a bit on the pricey side and the portions aren't massive, you'll need a platter and a side each if you wanna eat a fair sized meal. This will come to around £15-18, but the quality is very good! I got the hot fish platter and mmm it was delicious! The wine and beer menu is very extensive which impressed and I tried out a very strange sounding IPA called Galaxy.. No, its not chocolate flavoured, before you ask. That was super strong at 6.5% and is definitely worth trying if you're an IPA drinker. All in all, if you want somewhere with a chilled out vibe for a date night or a meal with a group of friends, this could well be your spot!

A friend of mine holds a monthly event here called the Sunday Shake Off Brunch (a blues dancing and…read moreskills share event - you should check it out!), and I was very impressed with the venue today. We use a room downstairs - fairly small but perfect for our needs, with a DJ booth space in one corner, and a small bar in the opposite corner (we use this as a place to rest our drinks, etc, which are ordered upstairs. There is a bar with stools down one side of the room, sofas lining the other side and one wall has a mirror lining it. Today the room seemed to be decorated with a space theme (not for us but we enjoyed it), and they started taking the decorations down once we were done, so who knows what we'll have next time! One of the sections of our event also involved glitter getting everywhere, and they were fine with that (with advance warning!). They serve brunch until 3pm today upstairs, but we pre-ordered ours and sat down as one big group at 3pm to eat - they were happy to help us rearrange all the tables so that we could sit together properly, rather than in split tables of two or four. The brunch menu is small but varied, from salmon to duck to avocado, and the poached eggs are perfect (and fresh! The yolks are BRIGHT and rich)! The coffees were great too, and there were deals on alcohol but I did not partake on this occasion... Almost most importantly though, the staff were really friendly and helpful! An overall lovely experience, it's a shame Haunt is so far out of my way in the general day to day! Thoroughly recommended.
