"Down by the Old Mill Stream Where I first met you"…read more(Mills Brothers) When you drive around the Old Mill Pond Village Complex, your eyes are met by one of the largest and most impressive collections of outdoor furniture and colorful outdoor accessories I have ever seen. Brilliantly colorful Adirondack chairs, dazzling wall art, planters, lawn spinners, gazebos, lawn décor, and more are everywhere. Not only is he inventory beautiful, but there is so much of it. And when you go inside the buildings, you'll pretty much have the same experience with different goods like furniture, housewares, candy, jarred foods, toys, stuffed animals, lamps, birdhouses, candles, clothing, kitchen gadgets, soaps, health and beauty aids, the massive variety of things to buy never ends. It's like the greatest county store you've ever visited taken to the tenth power on steroids. We had a blast walking through the Village Complex, chit chatting with the friendly staff and bought some candies for the grandkids. We'll be back to get some lawn spinners or lawn accessories once we're done with the weeds and landscaping. If you haven't visited here, I strongly recommend that you do. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself as much as we did.

My mom and I were looking for a good spot to go Christmas shopping, and after receiving a…read morerecommendation about Old Mill Pond Village, we decided to take the drive up. We're so glad that we did! What an amazing hidden gem for all things Christmas. Everything is quality made, and our style is Americana/country, so this was right up our alley. If I had to refurnish my house again, I would come here in a heartbeat! We found so many nice Christmas decorations, and I certainly didn't mind paying a little bit higher prices for quality products. Any staff members we encountered were pleasant. We will absolutely be returning, and I can't wait to come back during other seasons to check out their selections! We easily spent 3 hours here combing through everything, and we couldn't believe the gigantic warehouse of furniture!

Right when you walk in you're met with an astonishing amount of color and a scent that makes you feel like you're not in Connecticut anymore. There is tons of handmade crafts and gifts to choose from. If your decorating your house or shopping for a present for your friend/family, stop in! Not only do they have gifts, they have a large ethnically diverse coffee section to choose from! Browse the selection to find the country who's taste speaks to you. They're amazing and my friend always stops in to buy them! My personal favorite part of the experience it is to visit, has to be both the employees, colors, and diverse selection of crafts from different countries or "villages," as the name says. I truly feel like I'm walking into a fantasy. If the item you buy is large, they will hold it for you to pick up later. They even helped me bring it out to my car! Although the prices are a bit high, for the quality and background of these pieces; it is hard to NOT buy them! If you're looking for a unique shopping experience and a place that feels like you're walking into a new world; stop here, it'll amaze you.

Lured by the siren song of chairs, I wandered into this adorable store. It's wonderful. While it…read morelooks small from the outside, there is a large back/side room, and there is furniture! The aesthetic is that glowing, comfortable, homey feel of the "childhood" scenes in the new Little Women movie -- not the specific period (though I saw Eastlake dining chairs), but the sense of buying a classic piece that was part of a home and now it's going to be part of your home. It's all delightfully non-snooty, and the housewares aren't the same ones that show up in every antique mall. I ended up buying a necklace and am clutching the business card for the day when I buy a larger place.

It's not a dusty, musty shop of goods that look as though they were dragged out of the garage or attic and nothing here appears to be a modern take on an antique. Things are old, but necessarily antique. So vintage it is, I guess There's a gift shop feel. The lighting is soft, and colors muted. Spread out amongst three rooms is about anything - from teapots, cookie jars, kitchen items and a great deal of miscellany -- to add an interesting accent to a room or a collection. Each room has an overall theme of a sort. One room seems to focus on kitchen, another on study or bedroom, and the main room has day to day items of home décor. Browsing is easy -- the aisles are wide enough to turn around without knocking something over, the placement of items keeps your eye moving. Unless searching for something specific -- and I'd recommend asking the owner, who apparently knows every item in the place -- spend time browsing. It might be a trip down memory lane for you, your parents, or even your grandparents.
