From the get go, this experience wasn't meant to be. I tried to book online and the website wasn't working, so i messaged their instagram and requested a blowout with hot tool styling and they wrote me in. I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment to an environment where Lauren was screaming about personal issues and cursing nonstop. It was extremely stressful to listen to someone using such foul language on a Saturday afternoon. They took me a few minutes after my appointment and i showed Chai what i wanted her to do (a high pony tail curled) and the receptionist (mother) interrupted and said no they don't have time for that. My booking request was clear and it's not on me that i was squeezed in when they couldn't take me. They agreed to do it, but the girls around my hairdresser were whispering behind my back to Chai "you don't know how to do that hairstyle". I am right here! I didn't sign up for someone to wing it but Chai was great and she was so sweet so I don't want to knock her. She did a great job in the end regardless. While i was sitting, the receptionist came up to my hairdresser and put pressure on her that she's going to be late for her next appointment. I mean this place no filter! Acting as if my time and money wasn't valuable when they messed up my appointment to begin with. Not once did the owner acknowledge what was going on and kept giving side looks the whole time- I'm disappointed in the experience and how this salon tried to guilt me when they booked me incorrectly and never took accountability for that. read more

Lauren was super accommodating when I asked her for help blowing out my clip on extensions for my wedding. Chai had blown out my hair and my mom's hair a few times and did an incredible job with our thick and curly hair. I can't believe they did it in 30 minutes! Great price and great services! I needed my hair done for my son's graduation party and saw that this place was close by. Scheduling an appointment is super easy and online. I was able to schedule an appointment with Janice. I got to the salon early and didn't have to wait long. I was surprised by how small the space was. (I'm used to going to Dry Bar in the city.) The girls working there were friendly. Janice asked me how I wanted my hair. She was knowledgeable about my hair type (read: Asian hair=can't hold a curl). She listened to what I wanted and my hair turned out amazing! Even with high humidity, sweat and torrential downpour, my hair still looked great after 10 hours. I also liked the fact that she didn't put a lot of product in my hair. It felt soft and not stiff from hairspray. I just wish the hair washing was a little more luxurious of an experience. But I can't complain because I was in and out in 35 minutes. That's pretty impressive since I've got thick hair! Also, parking in this mini mall is a challenge. Be careful where you park because the towing company will tow your car if you park in the wrong spot! I'll definitely be back! read more

I mean, eh ‍ I finally had to chance to check this place out. I haven't gotten my hair done in forever, and since it NYE, I figured why not. I booked my appt online, with Lauren reading the reviews, and managed to be 10 mins early. However, I didn't get to be styled with Lauren (even though I booked it with her) but someone else. Everyone was really nice and sweet so the customer service was there. When the stylist was done my hair looked great. I did a basic blowout, with curls at the end and it was done with the curling iron. However, I only live 10 mins away from the salon, so by the time I got home my curls had flopped. They were gone. Luckily I don't mind my hair just being straight but it wasn't what I was expecting I mean the blowout was $35. So maybe it's a "you get what you paid for" kinda thing. If your just looking for a basic blowout, then this is fine. But anything more than that, I'm not too sure. read more

I booked an appointment a few weeks in advance because I needed a blowout while visiting Flushing for a friend's wedding. What a great decision! My appointment was with Lauren and she legit made me look like a goddess with beautiful flowy mermaid hair. I brought a halo (clip in hair extension) and my only regret is that it wasn't real hair for Lauren to style it. My hair looked so glamorous and I received a ton of compliments that night! The salon interior was small but very cute and well decorated. Lauren was also great to talk to. It seemed like she was training her staff and the assistant did make my scalp a little too hot a few times while drying my hair that there was pain but otherwise 15/10 experience. Maybe it was a bad day for them, or maybe this is every day for them, but my experience today was subpar. I went in for a glam blow out and was excited to get to know my would be stylist and have my hair done nicely for a wedding to take place later in the evening. Instead, I was greeted by a grumpy receptionist, who also turned out to be the stylist but I didn't see any certifications on the wall, and when I asked her how she came upon doing hair for a living she said "I don't know, I just didn't want to go to school and I like doing hair...that should have been my first red flag. When I spoke with her regarding the look I was going for, she didn't really seem to care to replicate the pictures I had showed her or suggest close alternatives. Second red flag. Between the cursing out of a customer regarding someone who called to reschedule, to the lack of reassurance that my hair will come out as I desired, I sat there uncomfortable. When I asked politely for the girl to try and redo parts of my hair to get it more closely aligned with what I went in for, I was met with silent reluctance and comments on how bad my hair is. It would appear that most of their customers are friends or repeat visitors and since I was from out of town, it was almost as if they decided I didn't matter since I guess logically, I wouldn't be back any time soon. In the end, I gave up, paid and left. The hair itself isn't terrible, and the place is cute which is why I gave three stars. But the attitudes and lack of consideration for my desired hairstyle as a customer cannot warrant 5 stars unfortunately. Which sucks, because I hate giving bad reviews... They use my favorite brands of products including living proof and olaplex and my hair never feels burned or damaged like other places i have been too for blowouts in the past. First and last time I'll be going there. It was my first time going to the blowout bar and I was very excited because of all the positive reviews. Upon my arrival Lauren ( the owner ) was very dismissive and didn't even greet me. She just asked what was my name and told me to sit on the chair. ( let me just add that her and her mom were arguing about frozen pipes in-front of customers-very unprofessional ). I understand it was a long day, but from owner of a business to another, that's not a way to treat a customer. Ursula was suppose to be my designated hairdresser. When I scheduled my appointment on line I chose her. However when I arrived I was given to someone else. ( who was very sweet by the way) But I'm sorry she did not properly wash my hair. What she did was pat it with shampoo a couple of times and rinsed it out. I asked for the deep conditioning treatment and idk what the fuck that was because what was suppose to be a 15 min scalp massage turned out to be a couple of pokes and yet again another rinse of water. When it came to blow out my hair, I'm not sure if this girl ( who did not introduce herself) is new or lacks experience, but it was poorly done. ( Laurens mom by the way took my towel mid way leaving half of my wet hair on my sweater) my hair came out super frizzy and puffy. This girl was so sweet that I almost felt bad giving my unhappy expressions. I have natural curly hair. Not everyone at the blowout bar is experienced with doing ethnic hair. They're use to fine hair. It's okay not to understand ethnic hair, but say that. Don't waste my time or my money. I hate paying for bad service. All in all my experience was very disappointing. Being only $25 and very affordable for the marvelous work they do, I'm able to go every week for 30 mins of self care during my chaotic schedule. Having super thick and long hair, it normally takes patience and extra sanity to even brush it. My mother and I had a wedding to go to and decided to get our hair done at The Blowout Bar. We called the morning of and made an appointment for 2:30 pm and they said they could take us at the same time. When we got to the salon, we were greeted by the owner's mother (who was adorable and so nice) and we were told to wait, that we would be up soon. We waited 30 minutes before only my mom to be taken and then another 15-20 minutes before I was called to go. My mom had asked the hairdresser to put some mousse in her hair because she KNOWS that without it, her hair would be flat. The hairdresser continued to do what she wanted, against what my mom had asked her to do. After she blew my mom's hair out, she told her that her hair was too flat and that she was going to curl it. But again, my mom told her to put product in her hair so that the curls will hold. She ignored my mom again, and the curls fell. The owner of the salon was the one that did my hair. All she told me to do was to go sit down in the chair. No real greeting, she didn't ask for my name, or even tried seeing what I wanted, as if she was dreading having to do my hair. She asked me if my hair held curls well and I said they did, as long as it had some products in it. I was supposed to get the "Glamour Blowout" with a wash, dry, and curl, I ended up getting some dry shampoo and loose curls that fell by the time I got home (All still for $25). The whole time, I sat there awkwardly in silence as she did my hair. Since the OWNER of the salon was doing my hair, I was hoping that she would have some kind of interest in her customer, at least enough to ask for my name. In the end, we both had to rush to redo our hair at home. We overpaid for something we could have done BETTER ourselves in our own home, for FREE. The staff is lifeless, they don't listen to their customer's wishes, and the services are not worth the time or the money. Its safe to say that we're never going back there and will not recommend anyone to go there. If the owner is reading this review, please consider reevaluating why you're in this business. If you truly love making others look fabulous, you need to make them feel it too. Not only does my usual salon make my hair look amazing, but they make ME feel amazing. You're customers should feel happy leaving your salon, not regretting that they even googled you. You're reviews all say the same thing, so you should really take that as a sign. read more

I've been coming here since it opened and I love this place! Lauren gives the absolute best blow outs I've ever had! My hair comes out beautiful always and lasts for days. Lauren also does my extensions and she is the best at it. I've had them done multiple other places always to be disappointed but Lauren kills it every-time. The Brazilian Blowout is not properly done at this salon. It wasn't until I went somewhere else that I found out. The last step which is the mask that seals in the chemical is not applied here. You pay for a half done job! Lauren is also very unprofessional. She told me she couldn't take me as a customer any longer because of childish games she plays with her customers. I don't care for the gossip that goes on at her salon. I was only there to get my hair done. If she forgets which clients she's talking to and sharing secrets that's not my business. I've been to this salon twice before. There's a nice ambiance and I love the idea of a flat rate despite how long / thick your hair is. I went on their website and specifically made an appointment with Lauren who has done my hair in the past, very nicely I might add. When I got to the salon, despite this appointment and no one else in the salon, I was given to someone else to wash & blow dry my hair. I didn't make anything of it at the time, assuming I'd be just as satisfied. However, while this other hairdresser (name unknown) was very friendly and super sweet, she had a hard time with my hair (2c/3a & thick). Lauren tried to salvage it, but it was pyramidal looking when I left and I was not 100% satisfied. Not sure if I would go back seeing as when I tried to book with Lauren, I didn't get her. This place is my new go to for Blowouts and I have had so many terrible experiences with my hair and blowouts that I was horrified to try any more new places to go to. However, I had two family weddings to attend back to back weekends and with travelling and packing I wanted to get my hair done ahead of time so I can enjoy the weddings. My first Blowout was Friday night for a wedding event leading up to additional events throughout the weekend. My hair with head and humidity lasted for both Friday and Saturday. It looked great and I didn't have to touch anything other than put some anti freeze serum. (First Blowout by CHI - she left me speechless) The next weekend wedding I got a blowout on Thursday and flew out to Chicago on Friday for wedding on Saturday. This time I was able to not have anything additional done to my hair for pretty much the whole weekend. It made my getting ready process with INDIAN outfits and accessories so much easier. The second BLOWOUT was done by Lauren, the owner and she is very sweet & knows what she is doing. I was so nervous about getting another horrendous experience but this placed beyond changed my mind about how I feel about trying new places. Although, I am not going anywhere else as they are just the right distance and price for my need. Thank you for such wonderful experience. This is really a hidden GEM!! read more
