I told myself we would not be coming to The Block until the hype died down and it was less crowded but when I friend from out of town really wanted to check it out we joined. I am really glad we checked it out because while yes there were a lot of people and yes the parking was full it never felt crowded. We came around 4:00 pm on a Saturday so I was surprised that there was plenty of seating and tables for a large group. For food I got a Chicago dog and a spicy watermelon margarita, both were good but expensive as you would expect. This is a wonderful place for kids and / or big groups. I also loved the live music it made for a very fun vibe!!! This is such a cool spot and I am glad we have this new(ish) spot in Jax and I will continue to support it!!! read more

Been there twice. *update 3x Probably the best thing about it is the play area with the hills and the rope bridge. Perfect for my kids. You have to fill out a waiver before you enter. You could do it on your phone. It was quick. Soon as you sign it, open the door and let them kids run free. My son is 4. We were worried because he in the spectrum and weren't sure how he was going to play with others. Maaan, he fit right in. You could see the joy on his face. They had a little climbing wall as well. Them kids was tired after 20 minutes. It doesn't help that the sun is out there whooping them. And that was in early April. I really dont think we'll be there in the hours of June - August. Maybe they can add more shade in that play area. Parking wasn't really an issue both times we went. Part of the reason is the bank next door closes at 5 and they allow us to park there. The food ordering was confusing at first but we figured it out. You could do everything off of your phone. You can order from all the vendors right there on your phone and it just creates one big bill. Hungry Owl: Spam and Egg Rice bowl. My kids weren't a fan of the sauce. I liked it. What a great venue and convenient location. This place is busy and fun! Really happy to have them in the neighborhood. Went for a birthday party (we had 15), was first in line and got to grab 4 tables in the upstairs bar. Speaking of that, it is a family friend and pet friendly place and if that's not your thing, you can go upstairs and still get the whole vibe and better views :). The bartenders upstairs were knowledgeable and quick and super friendly. A few of us patronized the food trucks and we all liked what we got. Stopped by on a Saturday around 2 PM. Was lucky to find a parking spot right up front as someone was leaving as I arrived. Even with plenty of seating, it was packed, which makes sense since it's a newer spot! There are great food options and multiple bars throughout the property. The second floor is usually 21+, but the staff was kind enough to let me up there with my little one since downstairs was so full. It's mostly extra seating and another bar, but the view of the property is worth it! I'm definitely coming back with my dog next time to check out the dog park. Great new addition to town! Large parking lot in the back- we came on a Friday at 130 and got a spot immediately. Fun murals for picture opportunities. I think there were six food options plus multiple bar areas plus an ice cream spot.. options for all! There is a kid zone and a dog park and an adult only area upstairs. Stopped by The Block on St Patty's Day (3/17/26) around 4:15pm and ended up staying close to 3 hours at one of their soft opening nights - which says a lot. Despite the random cold/windy weather in Jax this week, the vibes were still great. Met up with friends, grabbed a drink, and watched my friends kids run wild in the Jacksonville Mom play area (huge hit). Since it was a soft open, not everything was up and running yet. Totally okay and to be expected. Kanine Social was closed, but I'm definitely excited to come back once it's open so I can bring my doodle. A few dinner spots were open though--Slingin Wieners, Stack'd Burgers, and Chancho King. I was eyeballing the $9 Western Cowboy dog from Slingin wieners, but at my moment of ordering, they put a temporary pause on accepting new orders. I ended up grabbing an American burger from Stack'd ($17). Took about 30 minutes and came out fresh, hot, and super satisfying--no complaints there. I'll include pics of my burger and fries. Would happily order from Stack'd Burgers again. I look forward to trying Slingin Wieners in the near future as well as one of my overall favorite food trucks of all time (which I've shared on my Instagram page and Yelpjax page before in a reel) - Hungry Owl! If Hungry Owl is open, this is and always will be my 1st recommendation to order from. They have a phenomenal reputation around Jax. Another top fave - Chancho King which I also shared in a reel before for YelpJax - incredibly delicious and the owners/staff are amazing. Ordering is easy through QR codes around the block Jax space, and I loved that you can keep a tab open between the upstairs and downstairs bars--very convenient. They had music going the whole time (live + speakers), which added a lot to the atmosphere. The giant screen behind the live music was very impressive. The space itself is really well thought out with plenty of covered areas--going to be super clutch for Florida summers. Only one downside which I kinda saw coming before the block even opened up to the public: parking is limited. I'd definitely recommend going Early or planning ahead, especially once everything is fully open. A few extra spots will be open at the Community First bank next door but only after working hours (aka after 5pm and I'm assuming Sunday is open all day) Overall, such a fun new spot with a lot of potential. Can't wait to come back when everything is fully up and running! Congrats to everyone who has worked so hard on making this space come together! We came here for the block and roll car social on Saturday morning. This was our first time visiting and I am really glad we got a chance to experience the Block before their normal operating hours and get a feel for the space. The food smelled amazing but we did not eat there. We posted up in the lounge area on the second floor. The play area was clean and had a variety of things for the kids to do inside the fence. I love the QR code order menus everywhere so you can order drinks or food from specific bars and food joints within and pick it up when it's ready. The DJ that morning was sending good vibes out and the atmosphere was perfect to kill a morning and afternoon in. Will definitely go back for some evening fun and events. I love this new addition to Jax. It's a great hub for great local food, a place for the kids to run around while parents can yap with their besties and enjoy a cocktail or beer, or enjoy a cool show. I have acquired two Spring Fling tickets from Yelp. Ruben is going with me tomorrow. I needed to go today to check the place out, while it was not too busy. I love the dog park area. Pet owners have to do a pre-check in on an app, then show proof of your dog's shot records-which is a pain, but it makes sense. I really like the place. They have a 21 & older bar upstairs. They have a huge sitting area and a huge screen Jumbotron. Plenty of places to get food and drinks. The men were installing a new Photo Booth, but for $7.00. I never did see any restrooms at all. I love the kids play area. The kids having a ball! I like the huge chess game. Overall, I am happy about this new addition to Jacksonville! Thank you. Pros:this is a place for families and their dogs can be included. Plenty of places to pick up food to eat. Prices were fair. Each one has a kiosk for you to order your food. Spring Fling cake and Car show will be fun. It will be closed to the general public. Cons:as we all know and heard it in the news about parking being an issue. The positive is they're working on it. This place was so much fun! Kids, dogs and adults will have a great time here. Lots of great food and drink options along with games to play. The playground area kept the kids entertained. The dog park was only for those 18+ unfortunately. Not quite sure why. Dog immunization records need to be uploaded also before entry so prepare before coming. I'm giving 5 stars but could deduct .5 stars for the parking situation. Lot is not big enough and they should probably work out some arrangement with office buildings around to allow overflow parking on the weekends. We were there an hour and they announced if we had parked in the lot at the office building we would be towed so we quickly moved our car across gate parkway. Figure most people would prefer to not cross a busy road like that if they can avoid it. read more

I'm not sure how I feel about this space. It's much smaller than I thought it would be but they utilized the space well. I stopped by yesterday for the A Slice of Duval event. When I got there at 1, they said we missed the event although the site said the event was from 10-4. Aside from that, parking is awful. They didn't consider parking in their blueprint clearly. On a regular day, I believe it's a good space for parents to bring their kids and pet owners to come hangout. There are a few places to grab a bite to eat and two bar areas. If they host live music events in the evening, it'll be a great vibe for couples and singles. This is my opinion. Others may feel differently and that's okay. Based on just coming out for the short time we were there yesterday, it's not something I have to do again. I'm following them on social to see what events they come up with. They have to figure out that parking situation though. We stayed for about 30 minutes and went up the road to Midtown Table for lunch. read more

This is a wonderful representation of Duval. Terrific food. Amazing environment. Originally I was not a fan of ordering with a barcode/scanner but it is a perfect solution for a place like this. From the kid area to dog section, the stage or other kind of quiet side there was something for everyone. I was already familiar with most of the food places and they did not disappoint. It's really enjoyable how Filipino food has blown up here because it sure is delicious, lol. Came with multiple branches of our family and did not take pics this time but highly recommend. Definitely for good weather days. Children, adults and pups welcome. Variety of local eateries and bars/breweries upstairs and downstairs. Unfortunately, dogs are not welcome under the pavilion. People with pups are relegated to the area next to the children. It's almost like you're on timeout for bringing your dog. Big tv screens-events also take place here. Lots of seating. The Block is Hot, The Block is Hot Hot! I decided to stop by today for the grand opening and I can already see it being the city's newest hang out spot and it was well worth the wait! There's something there for the entire family to love including a food hall, kids park, dog park, fully stocked bars, and a live music venue, and more! The Block in Jacksonville has such a great concept overall. I really like how they separate the space with a 21+ area for adults and a family-friendly side it makes it enjoyable for everyone. The vibe is fun and unique. The only downside is the pricing, especially the drinks, which felt pretty outrageous. That said, the individual retailers outside of the Block sell their food and drinks at much more reasonable prices. If overall pricing was a bit more affordable, it would easily be a go-to spot. This was first time at this location. I decided to go here this morning with fellow Yelper Rebbeca (Goldie). We were later joined by other fellow Yelpers Crystal and Maya. The city of Jacksonville did a great job in developing this area. I recall six years ago there was nothing but grass and a lot of trees within this area. Today's event was awesome, and there were a lot of individuals in attendance. One draw back that I noticed is that there is limited parking spaces when they are hosting events. I do hope they get this discrepancy fixed this year. One great thing about this location that that it has a mini dog play area within. A requirement would be that every dog owner has to check in their dog and shoe proof of vaccinations. I also noticed that there is a huge chess playing area for those who love the game of chess. There's also an upstairs bar area. Today's event was awesome because it involved cakes. Today's event every individual who purchased a ticket to bring a cake upon arrival. There were a lot of beautiful cakes. There were also few awesome classic Cars as well. I had the opportunity to get as many slices of cake within the five minute time frame that was given. Overall, this was an awesome experience. I do hope that they decide to do this next year. read more

Nice chill place for families to hang out. My daughters had fun in the kids play area (though it definitely would benefit from being shaded for the daytime) while we were able to enjoy the food in the encircling area. Prices for food and drinks seemed fair and there was variety of good options and they all included kids meals too. Ordering the food was easy and fairly quick. We visited a few weeks ago and brought our dog with us to check out this new place. I have mixed feelings because there's a limited amount of area where your dog is allowed to walk and most of that are sidewalk areas which isn't great for dogs paws in the heat. We happened to get lucky and found an area that is for pets that had turf and tables where we could sit and wait for our food. It was nice here but there are very few tables in this area which means that it will be hard to get a table every time. I ended up getting a couple of drinks and eating a smashburger with fries and the food was excellent. The ease in which you can order your food from your phone and get notified of when your order is ready from the various locations here is very helpful. There is a lot of shade throughout this block and it looks really nice. Be prepared, though, the prices are probably 20 or more percent higher than they should be for what you're getting for the food and drinks. I had a beer called karate in the garage which is normally $6 to $7 at any restaurant that I've been to and here it was $9 or $10. The burger was also almost $20 for a standard double smashburger which is a bit high. You're paying for the experience and the environment and the convenience of having multiple options in this outdoor area. I'm mainly just a little disappointed that it is harder than I imagined, based on the advertising of this place, in being able to sit and eat comfortably with my dog. I know that there is a dog park that is connected called Kanine social but you also need to pay for them to go there. That's another $15 to $20 per day or you can get a monthly membership fee. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the environment was nice and interesting. I just have a hard time seeing myself come here often because of the prices and the less than friendly pet friendly experience while dining. Another thing, when you enter there is security and we had to go back to the car because we weren't allowed to bring a small bag that had our dogs treats, poop bags, balls in it. I hope they iron out these things a bit more to make it more pet friendly but for now it doesn't seem to be so currently. read more

The verdict is still out for Jacksonville newest venue, the Block! Dont come to early. Happy hour is from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Adutls and kids alike would love the outdoor experience. Two bars and a jumbo megatron television caught my eye upon arrival. There is parking in front of the venue. Pssst but you heard about the parking debacle over opening weekend. It was shear chaos. My suggestion come on the weekdays. Preferably a Thursday or Friday like I did. Get your yourself a cold one, enjoy the fresh air and indulge yourself in the couple of eateries the Block has to offer. Summertime, i do not think is the right time to visit the Block. The time is now before it gets to hot. No air conditoning but 2 big ceilng fans. It is going to scorcher this summer if the visit the Block during the summer. I expect more night time crowds and weekenders. Im just saying. This might be a one and done for me! read more

It's just absolutely insane with parking and the line to get inside... just a suggestion but maybe initially allow people to reserve a 2 hour time slot to come in to help with wait time, parking, etc. Unfortunately, people with kids can't wait an hour to get in and this venue is definitely catered to families. read more

What a bummer, really wanted to like this place because it's local owned but was fully disappointed. First everything is really expensive, then all ordering is done through QR codes, which I did, but then they send you a validation code for some reason and the code they sent me couldn't be verified for whatever reason. Tried to talk to the people behind the counter to figure out the issue, but because of the music, you could not hear a word they said, not that they seemed too excited to help to begin with. I ended up leaving without even being able to try the food. Why is it when businesses try to make things easier with technology, it just ends up being a nightmare? read more
