I wish I could let you know how it actually was here, but I can't because they wouldn't let me in. I'm 26, I'm here on vacation and my ID had expired recently so I renewed it before coming here in hopes of going out and line dancing (been doing it for over 7 years). This place looked interesting so I wanted to give it a go and they tell me they can't accept paper ID's even though when scanned, it is certainly valid. Really big disappointment. But it didn't look too busy on the inside and now seeing all the poor reviews, maybe believe them. And maybe put that you don't accept government issued temporary ID's on your website so no one else wastes their time! read more

I was taken out in handcuffs because I refused to change/cover up a shirt I'd worn several times to this establishment. The shirt is pictured in the photos I attached. Those pictures are taken at the bathroom at the Block. I refused to leave when asked because the female patrons around me were showing just as much skin and more. They also had the same neckline as me and were not asked to leave or cover up. When questioned as to why they weren't asked to leave, the bouncer said it's because I had cleavage. I said it was unfair and refused to leave so I was handcuffed and put in the back of a police car. Yes I was rude after a bit to the male staff who approached me because it was ridiculous. I'd been a regular customer and dancer at this bar since May of 2014 and brought in countless people and spent so much money there. I had never made so much as a stir at this place and was considered somewhat of a fixture there (even though the DJ didn't care enough to learn my name but knows most of the other regulars). I've taught hundreds of people to dance there-no exaggeration. The bartenders knew my order without me even saying anything. I had my 21st there. If it was a Wednesday, Friday or Saturday, I was at the Block. For 8 years. Apparently none of that matters though because I wore a shirt that showed cleavage. That I'd worn several times before to that bar. The owner and staff should work on a better relationship with the locals than just watching for breasts and cheeks. It's disgusting that the male owner and male security guards saw me and were discussing my breasts before I was approached. I hope future female patrons know the male staff are staring at them-especially the curvier ones. A male member of security, "the manager" said something about my shirt to me instead of the several female security, door girls and bartenders who work there. Hope everyone enjoyed the show because I'm never coming back. Wondering if anyone on staff can tell me why I was targeted? Was entering last night got grabbed by arm and told I couldnt wear my sunglasses on my head so I took them off instantly mainly out of shock and fear but was like ok I'm sure they have their reasons till I got in and saw around 27 bros wearing hats several with sunglass on them. I went to the block with my friends. All of us were of age except one which he was 20. Someone there near us bought him a redbull with no alcohol. The bartender swiftly came over and threw the redbull away and told us it's not allowed. I guess people under 21 can only have water, no sodas. After an hour the bartender cuts me off and when I asked why they said it's because I bought my friend a redbull. I told them to check my tab/receipt and they did not. Place was absolutely dead on a Friday night. No people on the dance floor. My friend and I were the only people that hopped on the dance floor and afterward, another friend brought me a drink. Within seconds, while we were on the edge of the dance floor, security came up and said we weren't allowed to stand or have a drink on the dance floor. More security than guests. Mind you we had spent about a hundred dollars here and this was our first night of vacation we were looking for a place we could spend every night and have fun but we must have had too much fun at The Block because we were told that management dos not like people to whistle. When I asked at the front desk if that was really a rule, because nothing was posted that said don't whistle we were told that we sounded obnoxious. Now while we were being told not to whistle for our friend someone was yelling obscenities at us and they were not told anything. So if you want a place where you can yell FU at the paying customers while drinking water this is your place. But if you actually want to have fun in FT. Walton you should find somewhere else. I'm a local....I sat at the "country bar", ordered a Stella and left all my change sitting on the bar for my next round or a tip. After 20 minutes, the bartender asked me if I needed anything and I said "no thanks, , but he may want something [pointing at the guy beside me]....The bartender then says " are you trying to tell me how to do my job" and I replied, "no, I just didn't need anything but thought this guy might'.. I told her I was sorry if I offended her but was just pointing out that I didn't need anything, bur the guy next to me might.she then replied " it's not my first day on the job". The Block is one of the largest bars in Fort Walton, and I drive by it everyday and didn't know it existed. Until one fateful day when there were whispers of midget wrestling. I immediately hunted down the location and it turned out to be The Block. Crowds, midgets, wrestling. A better combination could not have been found. $15 cover, worth every damn penny. I have been fascinated by midgets ever since seeing one that worked at Walmart. But at the time, I thought it would be impolite to stare and had to force myself to avert my eyes and pretend like everything was normal when every cell in my body screamed to stare at the midget!!!! And of course I didn't want other people to know that I've never seen a midget before. But damnit I have never seen a midget before. Thankfully, all that midget craving was adequately satiated at The Block. I even got to be a ring girl and it was a ton of fun. After the wrestling, they played music and people danced. Interestingly, the club became racially segregated with all black people in the hip hop room (music not as loud), and all white people in the larger, country music (good volume music), synchronized dancing room. I had no idea there were so many songs that you can synchronize dance to (ex. that wobble wobble song)! Who has all that free time to learn the steps? Apparently, the local people here do. I'm not much of a synchronized dancer so I left. But thank you so much for bringing us the midgets and a night to remember. read more

If you want a place where they over charge, rude waitress/bartenders, the music sucks, the karaoke speakers really are lousy, they take your credit card without any regard for its security and worse when you leave pray they can find it, then this is the place for you. If reputation and how a customer is treated and feels after leaving is any indication of how long a place will stay in business, this place should be closing soon. God, in my 45 years of traveling the USA, this place was the worse by ten fold than any other lounges/night clubs I have visited in my travels. What do you get when a venue has 3 types of dance floor/rooms: country, hip-hop and karaoke? The Block!!! The parking area sucks, and kind of sketchy. Once inside, directly in front of you is the karaoke section. It has a few tables for hanging around and waiting for your turn. Turn left and you will encounter the country music area. The thing that catches your attention is the huge floor with couples dancing. Since I grew up as a country girl, it was fun getting to see people dancing in their country boots and hats. The long bar area was crowded, but not everyone was ordering drinks. Many were just watching everyone "waltz." Or line dance. Lol As you go more toward your left an dip spell stairs is a small area for hip hop dancers. There were a lot of kids that Friday night. There is even 2 pool tables on one side for patrons to play. The dance floor was super small. Overall, the drinks were good and the price is ok. The music was not bad. One rule that was strongly enforce that I somewhat hated but appreciated: no drinks on the dance floor. Lol. So everyone was just standing around sipping on their drinks watching one or two people that were dancing. Eventually, many people (such as I) got on drink patrol so that their friends can go dance. I love 2 Stepping and it's the only place to go in FWB. That being said it still has a nice set up and large dance floor. They usually alternate songs (for line dancing and two stepping). The front is karaoke, then opens to the country floor, then up the stairs to the "shake ya booty" music and pool tables at all levels! The drinks are decent ( a whiskey coke is a whiskey coke) and don't seem to be too pricey. The only thing keeping them from 5 stars is the staff can be a bit eh and the DJ is kinda a prick. Had a problem with a guy and his buddy harassing my girl and I, and I had to handle it myself pretty much. Oh and can't do aerials while dancing. But still continue to go! read more

The bartender gave me a water and assumed that she was cutting me off from drinking any more that night. A simple suggestion of saying " you're cut off" or "you've had too much to drink" would have sufficed for this situation. If I knew I was cut off for the night I would not have accepted another drink from my friend who bought another. Instead of being talked to about being cut off one of the other employees decides to approach my friend and I and tells us to step outside. We were then told we weren't allowed back in that night. This place was like my second home "sad to say but once your military and jump from place to place it unlikely to find people who are like you are" I found it to be home. It was family to me and friends all having a good old time. I wasn't into doing the night town or very crowded places. So this was prefect I knew everyone and everyone knew me. I stayed in the country side, the DJ Anthony amazing guy... He takes request and has patience.. The bartenders work their butts off. Don't be rude by snapping your fingers at a bartender.. Wait your turn like everyone else. But all in all I wouldn't pick another bar to go to.. This by far is my favorite. I've seen were many people complain about drinks being on the dance floor, it's not because they think your 2 years old. It for people who are 3 sheets to the wind and it causing problems. i would give this no stars if i could. this was by far the worst bar i have ever been to. they rejected my friend because he was gay even though he was 22 and said it was because his ID was fake. they refused to scan it and was very aggressive about making us leave. they also pushed women in a disrespectful manner, talked down to us, and was verbally abusive. i would not recommend this place to anyone. please don't go, especially if you are not from here and there is a reason why no locals recommend it. just go to the salty duck if you want fort walton if not please go to destin!!!! A buddy of mine who lives in the area had been telling me about The Block for quite some time. So during my recent visit to the Fort Walton area, he took me there to check it out for myself. It is three clubs under one roof and we specially went to the Country and Western portion of the establishment. Our bartender, Jennifer, was SUPER!!! I believe that we were there during $.25 beer night on select beverages. Jennifer kept the coming as it didn't take much to put the beers down, I believe they were served in an 8 oz (or so) plastic cup. The area we were in was very smokey which is why we did not stick around all that long, long enough for a couple of rounds of drinks. Jennifer was VERY COOL and friendly and is really good at what she does!! read more

Holy cow. If you are going to go to this place, you better watch out. Cops LOVE to hang out here. I used to go here all the time, and especially as the night went on, there were more and more cops. There was a stabbing there not too long ago. So, there are three clubs in one at this place: karaoke, country dance, and hip hop. Country dance is fun, but the dances are really hard to do, and I grew up doing line dances. The hip hop room is just awkward. Sometimes there's twerking, but mostly it's people wanting to dirty dance but don't. I don't have anything against dirty dancing, within limits, but if you're going to do it, just do it, don't be weird about it. Quarter Beers is probably the main thing keeping this place alive right now. On Wednesdays, 7-9 you get a plastic cup of beer for a quarter. Great. And that's probably why people go there. I went there once with my boyfriend and some guy accused us of damaging his car, when we hadn't even parked, and that's why people are like at the Block -aggressive, or else there would've been no stabbing, and the cops wouldn't be prowling and out and about like flies on honey. I went to do karaoke one night and was routinely passed over by others because they were tipping the karaoke people more. I thought that was really, really rude. Haven't been back since. Cheers to your Quarter Beers, because that's probably the only thing keeping you afloat! Also, staff is VERY dismissive. The waitress in the karaoke bar will ignore you because she is flirting with all the young guys in her suggestive clothing . . . I don't know . . . It is a bar . . . I had a good time, but only because of my friends. The shots are $6 for a quarter of a shot cup filled up. I asked for water, and it's $2 for a bottle of water and tap water isn't served. I don't use plastic bottles as it's devastating to the environment. I feel a bar on the Gulf should take this into consideration. read more

It's a pretty big venue, mixed drinks are about 7-9 dollars which is pretty normal. But they made my Long Island with just vodka.... no rum or gin.... the whole venue just has a run down vibe to it which some people are into that. Even for the Florida Panhandle, this is a dump of the highest order. Show up in frayed shorts, a wife-beater, and flip-flops and you'll be overdressed. If you're from out of town, you'd do better going to Destin for nightlife. The Block is one of the few remaining places that still permits smoking indoors, and its absolutely suffocating. The DJ in the "dance" club was a real class act. I went with a female friend who requested a song, which at first he was happy to oblige. When she returned to request another (it was a Friday night and no one was there), he told her to buzz off because he saw that she was with me, and he knew he wasn't going to get any. read more

Used to go to The Block a couple times a month at least. All of a sudden they are now charging a cover to get in and either the drink prices have gone way up, or I got majorly overcharged. The doorman's reasoning for the up in cost was "everywhere else shut down so now we can charge whatever we can get away with." Nice. read more

I love dancing here. The line dancing is superb although I wish more complicated dances were played more often such as chill factor, backstreet attitude and men in black. The current line dance instructor is very good but I think The Block would benefit from having Aggie back as an instructor on the days that Anthony is not available to instruct. Her dance moves are so fun to copy. Also, I was not able to find out the times that the dance lessons start from the website. One bad thing about The Block are the ladies' restrooms. There are many stalls so no long lines but the bathroom doors have no locks on them. It is such an awkward moment to be walked in on, even a cheap little lock would do. I am also bothered by the intense amount of cigarette smoke but it doesn't stop me from having a lovely evening dancing on their huge dance floor. read more
