After my family of five walked out of a nearby restaurant due to poor service, we headed straight to Rum Runners. At first, I was unsure what to expect, as the host was chatting with two younger coworkers when we arrived -- especially after the bad experience we had just had. But we decided to give it a try, and I'm glad we did. The host was polite and seated us immediately with no wait. Our server acknowledged us right away and brought glasses of water for everyone as soon as we sat down. The food was excellent, and the customer service was just as good. Inside is great! Manager is awful. One of the bouncer was trying to talk to me very nicely. Manager couldn't stand that I wanted to hear what the bouncer said over him. I honestly think it was a race thing or a height thing. I live near by but will encourage friends never to go there. The only reason the manager! For food, we just had a rum runner chicken quesadilla but it was excellent! The quesadilla was loaded with perfectly cooked chicken. The service was wonderful. We enjoyed the laid back ambiance. Super fun atmosphere on a weeknight with live music. We were walking by and heard the music and decided to check it out. We highly enjoyed sitting and listening to the singer play the piano and accept song requests on Venmo! They only serve bottled water for a fee and not tap water. The fried fish was really tough and chewy but the French fries were pretty good. My friend said her fried fish sandwich was decent, and I enjoyed my coconut fried shrimp. Juval was such an amazing server - personable, gave the best recommendations, and was super on top of everything! The bad reviews threw us off but all of the other restaurants were closed so we took a chance at Rum Runners. The food was actually really good - the bad reviews are from drunk people getting kicked out (and we saw it happen too). We looked at the reviews and it was all people complaining about the bouncers. Wanted to try a restaurant that had some live entertainment. Piano bar.....guy who played was awesome, his ability to play all types of music was unreal. Service was great as well. Server was quick, responded right away and even cracked a few jokes which made it fun....but the reason for only giving them a 3 star was the wagyu burger wasn't very good. Tasted burnt, not charred but burnt....like a burger you would get after some dad cooked some burgers at a youth sporting event. Everyone else seemed happy but I didn't taste anything else. We've visited here many times for drinks and entertainment but have only eaten here once. When we were here it was for lunch, which is slow, so service was great and food was as expected. Nothing crazy to rave about but satisfied my family with no issues. Typically, we stroll in after dinner elsewhere for drinks and to hang out and sing along with the live music, dueling pianos or whoever else happens to be playing. The bartenders all mean business and serve you and move on. I like it, they take care of me and leave me be small talk with everyone else around. We've seen many bachelor/bachelorette parties come through and have a great time. The later you come they eventually turn it into 21+. You have to try the Bushwhacker with a shot of screwball. It's like dessert in a cup. Like ice cream with peanut butter topping. Sooo good and worth the visit just to get one of those. We sat down at a DECENT looking establishment, if that's even what you call it. While our server was great! The manager along with head bartender have completely lost it, I mean off their rockers. Ordering strawberry daiquiris was like going on a quest to find gold in the Amazon rain forest. Telling my family they have fake ids... the nerve, won't even scan our ids to check. Moving on to the food, let's go down the list. Blackened chicken Alfredo/ blackened shrimp Alfredo. The chicken/shrimp was burnt to pieces that tasted like coal. The noodles were soggier than sitting on a wet towel on a picnic. And if you are thinking about ordering a chicken sandwich, or to be honest any sandwich! Order 2! They cut the meat in half I think because they think you're "fat". They claim they upcharge because they need to pay the rent... didn't realize Trumps tariffs hit American chicken and grouper. The Bad: food was very slow. We had a party of 3 (2 adults and a child), the restaurant was less than 20% occupied, and it still took 55 minutes to get our food. That's not right. At all. The Ugly: the value here is embarrassing. We ordered fish of the day basket (1 small piece of fish, estimated at 4oz, a crap ton of fries, and watery slaw that was served in a condiment sauce cup. Thanks you keep that. That was $34. I'm sorry what? My wife ordered fish of the day sandwich- same thing. Small fish, covered in 5,000 French fries to fill up the basket. $29. Here is my favorite. We asked for waters all around after a long day in the hot Sun. We get 3 bottles of Dasani. We look around and every table is the same. Water bottles are $3 each. My child got a small hamburger kids meal and thought it was fine but nothing special. For 3 of us, getting baskets of fries basically... $95. Baytowne Wharf is like a run down Six Flags. All restaurants we've eaten at there are poor quality food, over priced, but you are captive because of the good music and nice views. A place like this in Dayton OH would never survive on such bad value, slow service, and deceptive $3 water bottles. read more

Food was good. Service was subpar. Yes it was busy and I allow for that. I've been in the business for over 30 years but to wait 25 min between visits from server is ridiculous. Then she dropped check at 10:02 and came back 30 min later. I've never ever not tipped but this time I left without tipping. I would have left you more than some of them inside ordering 1 beer at a time. Taylor was our server. Sorry Taylor!! Maybe focus on the ones spending than the 1 drink at a time. this review is for drinks/entertainment only. we did not get food. rum runners is super fun for their dueling piano bar. every single night from 8 pm to about midnight or 1 am, they have dueling pianos & the place gets super energetic (& drunk). the drinks are really good! i got the killer colada which is a frozen piña colada & i added a rum floater. the second drink i got was the bushwhacker with a skrewball peanut butter floater - amazingggg. my mom got the strawberry daiquiri which she liked & the raspberry martini which was pretty sweet. i can't say anything about the food, but we would definitely come back for the drinks & entertainment. read more

This place is honestly one of the most mediocre experiences I've had in recent years. From the service, to the music volume, to the food quality it was all frankly below average. The hostess didn't begin the experience very well, in that she was quite rude from the jump - the waiter we had was great but everyone else wasn't. We sat down and ordered, then proceeded to try and converse over the insanely loud, ear ringing live music for what seemed like an eternity. The artist was great, but the volume was ridiculous. After our literal hour plus wait for food, it came looking like they'd just warmed up a microwave meal and served it on a plate. I got a grilled Mahi-Mahi sandwich and the fish was so hard, small, and rubbery I could've given it to the singer to pick his guitar with and it woulda worked just fine. This place excuses it's extremely long wait time on the fact they are a small team and work on "island time" i.e. "shut up and accept the bad service and then be fine with plastic, overpriced food." I have never left a negative review before, I am saddened to say I have never been more disappointed in a turn of events. After getting in the bar once my id was checked by the bouncer. The bald bartender with dorky glasses demanded my id in a very rude manner. I hand my id to the bartender and he asks me to leave the premises (I am 22 will be 23 in 2 weeks) I then go on to tell him I have another form of identification and he storms out and demands I leave. I am very offended by this bartender and will be giving a call to management tomorrow. This is not something I do often but after reading reviews, I see this is not the bartenders first offense on treating someone in this manner. The reason we went here was we were referred there by a local. He made a scene by taking my ID to the security guard outside. I would not give this place a dollar. read more
