Referred to us by Horizon Window Fashions of Reno (NV) to perform the cleaning of (6) Hunter Douglas duo-lite Duette and (1) Hunter Douglas Luminette window treatments, I reached out to owner John by voice mail. Very shortly thereafter, arrangements were made for pickup, cleaning, delivery, and re-installation of the (7) window coverings. Service technicians Jamie and Stacey arrived on time to remove and carry away the window treatments. In under a week, John advised that the window treatments had been successfully cleaned using their ultrasonic cleaning technique and were ready for delivery. Jamie and Stacey once again arrived on time to deliver and reinstall the window treatments. Stacey performed an adjustment (that I didn't realize could be done) on one of the duettes to make it operate better. After re-hanging the Luminette, Jamie very carefully applied a steam treatment to remove fold lines and smooth out the fabric. The final tally for the services was an excellent value for the money. We were extremely pleased with the turn-around time and the results of their services. A few months ago we hired The Blind Man to repair a Hunter Douglas honeycomb blind that had a broken tension string. We were amazed that they were able to repair it, as we had been told by other technicians that on-site repair was impossible. Today, we had them come to clean our blinds. We have a sunroom which needs sliding roof blinds of some sort. This was the 1 business who replied that they had done many of these in the past! Febr 7th, Jaime and Stacey came out and spent about 40 minutes measuring the sunroom windows carefully and chatting about another sunroom they'd done! I was so excited as we want this done before summer arrives. After 4 weeks hearing nothing, I began calling. Left at least 4 messages about a week apart with no response at all! Finally John called and said he hadn't used the company who makes these blinds and would need to reestablish contact with them. That was the first part of March (or so) and now it's April 4th and again, no word from John or anybody else! I'm so disappointed but also disgusted that neither Jaime nor Stacey have gotten back to us. At this point, I cannot give this business more than 1 star and that one's falling from the sky fast!!! read more

We were so happy to have gotten the process started to replace blinds for a large slider, we made the appointment, they took measurements and that's where it all stopped. They couldn't order any of the samples we chose from their books, but left looking into one that had limited availability, we never heard from them again. I've used this company twice. The first time, Jaime and Stacey came out and they were awesome! Last month I called them again because I had broken Hunter Douglas blinds that needed repair. I got John this time and it didn't go well. He arrived 20 minutes late without even an apology or acknowledgement that he was even late. He took measurements and said he'd have to place a special order. When I asked him to let me know the cost before he ordered, he looked at me like I was crazy (like no one ever requests an estimate before purchase?!!). After he left, I never got a call back. I tried calling a couple of weeks later and left message. Still no call back. It's almost like he didn't want the business. Think he needs to retire..... Bummed to have such a crappy experience after the first time was so great. read more

We had the Blind Man put shutters in our new home. Stacey and Jaime were great to work with. Jaime spent a lot of time helping me decide the style and customized the split of the shutters. Now we can have the tops open for light and the bottoms closed for privacy. We have a weird window over the stairs, but Stacey even got the shutters up there! Hired John to install fabric blinds on two large windows at our office. Quoted with a two week turn time, we had to leave messages every week for nearly 6 weeks before John and his two assistants showed up. They dumped all the materials in the middle of our office floor, argued loudly amongst themselves, and were generally unprofessional. Once the blinds were in place, it was noticed that the valances didn't match the blinds. It took another three weeks before John's crew arrived and installed the correct valances. The blinds are fine now, but it took more than two months from estimate to completion for just two window coverings. On John's last visit we requested a quote for a matching Velcro-applique for an adjacent glass door. Quoted at two weeks, it's now been three and we're not holding our collective breath. I've dealt with other blind installers and never seen such low attention to service. You will never actually get a person on the phone, it requires several voice mails before you get a response, and forget about sending email. The price was average, but the unprofessional attitude of this three man shop leaves a lot to be desired. There are better options in town, including just doing it yourself. read more

The Blind Man came to my client's home to clean and repair about 15 large blinds. After removing all of the old blinds we discovered that they were basically defective. They needed to be thrown out. The Blind Man did not charge my client for their time, and instead took some Blind wands as payment for all of their work! I cannot say enough how much I appreciated this kind act! I just used the services of Jamie and Stacey at the Blind Man repair. they were very professional and went on and above the service I hired them for. Now only were they able to fix a stuck traverse curtain rod but they did it without having to ta take the whole thing down. It was a simple fix after they figured out what was going on and and had the project down in a short amount of time. They also siliconed my other vertical blind traverse rods, and one was high up and needed a ladder to reach. They replaced an old curtain pull and now all my curtains open and close like new. I highly recommend their services as they aren't overly priced and very friendly and professional. read more

I used The Blind Man last year to repair our bedroom blind, I was pleased with the repair and it's worked great until last week. The same blind now needs to be fixed as it's having the same issue. I called the Blind Man again, spoke with John, and made an appointment for yesterday, Tuesday Dec 4th between 11am-12pm. At around 11:50, I thought I would call to inquire and get an updated time frame..no answer at either the cell or landline. My husband looked out the window and saw The Blind Man truck across/up the street at our neighbors house...no one was in the truck, we just figured maybe they had two stops on the same street? A few minutes later the truck was gone. I called again...no answer. No one called me? I called again this morning and left another message...I was so confused. We had such a nice experience the last time? At some point today, I was wondering if he was avoiding calls from my number. I blocked my number and called again. He answered. He told me he was sorry, there was a mix-up on the address, we can try again tomorrow. I mentioned my messages and confusion about yesterday and he said that he hadn't had a chance to return calls yet today (it's 1:30, also no calls yesterday) and was also a tad rude. I said thanks, we will find someone else. I have an appointment Friday with another company. This is the weirdest and strangest thing that has happened to us with a local business. I've never left a Yelp review before, but I felt it was necessary. We are just normal people who needed a service, waited patiently for our scheduled appt time, no call no show, left a few messages, no answer, no calls returned. Of course there are address mix-ups at times...but can you at least call the customer who is patiently waiting to double check the address? So weird..? Stacey and Jaime Dawson were wonderful. I called due to the strings on one of my Hunter Douglas Blinds had broken and all the pulls on all three blinds were cracked and broken. They called to let me know they were on their way, and arrived on time. I took them to the room that had the blinds that needed to be worked on and they set to it. The repair took maybe twenty minutes, they explained what might have been the problem, and how to avoid it in the future. Most, maybe all, blinds dealers really just want to sell you a new blind while the one you own has a minor broken part. Most often they repair only the blind they sell. Why? Blinds are like specialty watches requiring deep knowledge of the parts and processes. Dealers can't fix them but the Blind Man can! At moderate cost too!
