We decided to replace all the 20 + year old Hunter Douglas Vinyl plantation shutters in our house with Hunter Douglas wood composite. After shopping around and going to a home show, I really liked the people and product knowledge from the Blind Guy Company. Mark showed us the product line and really knew his stuff. He spent the time to go over all the options and what he thought would work best within our choices. I really feel he was not trying to push us any certain way, he just wanted us to be happy with our choice. I have learned over the years, a lot of companies sell the same stuff, it's all about who will install it and who will be there if you have any issues. Well as it normally is with any large job, we did have a minor issue after the install with the way the old shutters and the new shutters appeared when looking at them from outside the house. The guys were very responsive and came out and agreed there was some additional trim work to be done. They measured ordered and within a few weeks came back with a team and installed trim in all the areas I had concern. This was very impressive as they not only made it look awesome, but they did it all as a courtesy. Like I said, many companies sell the same products, but it really matters who is going to install and back it up. We are super pleased with the outcome and would go with the Blind Guys again. read more

Wish I could write a better review and I have waited months and months before posting this. There is an extreme lack of customer care and service with this company numerous calls and emails have been made. No returned emails or calls were made back. We still have issues with the blinds that we installed the wrong measurements were taken. I placed our order prior to Covid March 2020 now I was very understanding of the shut down and delays ect so when our shutters and blinds were finally install in July. There was damages made and then to top it off the measurements were taken wrong and i had to wait months again for the new ones to come in. I am still due parts and a replacement shade per a warranty. So if at anytime the business owner who I have already spoken too as he personally installed my shutters the second time the company came out would like to reach out and make this situation right that would be great. read more

I've used The Blind Guy every time I needed blinds over the last 12 years. They did blackout blinds for us in two rooms in our house in East Sac, then when we moved to South Land Park we hired them again to do blackout blinds in every bedroom, and with our most recent move to West Sac we needed a blackout blind for my son's room. No matter how big or small the job was, they've done great work and their pricing is competitive. We've always been happy with the blinds (and if there were ever any issues they fixed it immediately) and this last blind was no exception. Chris did a great job installing the blind and helping to make a few modifications we needed to accommodate safety features on our window and some light leaking in with the new design of the blinds. We were disappointed that a specific fabric/pattern wasn't available (not their fault, Hunter Douglas stopped making it) but we were able to find a new one we love (they have SO many fabric options for roller blinds). These are not the roller blinds from the 1980s! They are sturdy, have a smooth, easy-to-use mechanism to lower/raise, and they darken the room so well. There's still some light that comes through in a couple places around the track, but Chris did a great job trying to minimize it as much as possible. I highly recommend using them for whatever blinds you need. I did have some issues (NEVER had them before over the past 12 years) but once a new person took over on my job all the issues were fixed immediately - thanks Chris for doing such a great job and installing my son's blind as quickly as you could! read more

I had a great, very pleasant, comfortable sale and installation experience with Brad Cocagne (owner) and Chris (sorry, I did not get his last name; he installed the shades). With Brad, he was very prompt, responsive, friendly, courteous, and professional. He took the time to show me options based on my preferences. With so many options (and pretty colors :-D), it took me quite some time to decide what to get. He answered all my questions and also provided helpful input. I ultimately chose the Hunter Douglas Urban Loft, White RLUL102 roller shades (see images). I am extremely happy with them. I want a lot of [natural] light inside the house while blocking heat and cold, and it does a great job! This superb, high-quality Hunter Douglas roller shade is the winner! (Whoohoo!) With Chris during installation, he was well organized, laid out each roller shade to its corresponding window, and installed them all pretty quickly. He explained to me how to operate them, answered all my questions, and also provided helpful input. Like Brad, Chris was also very friendly, courteous, professional, and likes Adam Sandler movies. :-D Furthermore, a couple of days after installation, I noticed one of my roller shades for the sliding door was rolling up uneven. We called The Blind Guy to install shutters on five of our windows in September 2019. They came out mid November to install the blinds. Three of the blinds were cut to the correct size, two were not. Of the two incorrectly cut shutters, one was made too big for the opening, and the other too small. I realize mistakes can be made, but when this is your business and you profess to be professionals at it, a 40% failure rate is not something to be proud of. We had company coming for Thanksgiving and really wanted the shutters installed before they arrived. They promised they would expedite the reorder for the two windows they cut to the wrong size and get them installed by Thanksgiving. It didn't happen. There was zero follow up from their office despite multiple phone calls from us. The office manager (Redina) who we spoke to on multiple occasions promised to call us back with updates. She never did. The second guy that came out near the end of December to install the two shutters that were originally cut to the wrong sizes made a complete mess of things. He spilled caulking on the wall and didn't clean it up, didn't clean up the wood shavings between the shutters and the windows, didn't put the plastic plugs in on the fifth window, damaged the frames upon installation, etc. All in all just an incredibly lousy and unprofessional job. Bottom line: their customer service is atrocious and their work is sub-par at best. So if you want overpriced blinds with horrible customer service and lousy installation, The Blind Guy is for you. If you don't, there are many other companies out there that will give you a better end product for less of you hard earned money. read more

Brad was great in presenting his products and writing orders but upon delivery and installation things really fell apart. The roll up shades for the kitchen are great and function as they should. However both sets of vertical blinds have had problems since installation. One is almost tolerable but a slat was to be replaced but has yet to happen six months later. The second has been a disaster from the beginning. Installation was wrong, slats curled but the manufacturer on replaced so another trip was required to fix that. The blind still does not close properly and has yet to be fixed or replaced. Should have just bought the blinds off the shelf from Home Depot and installed them myself! read more

Sales and service guys: 5/5 - even more. This review is not a reflection of them. Colby was our salesman and was just awesome. So friendly, incredibly helpful. He was running late for our appointment but was beyond communicative about it and even offered to show me the receipt from his van service. We really enjoyed our experience meeting with him, and he took all of our wishes into account, steered us away from expensive blinds upon learning we have big jumping dogs that can ruin them, and gave us a deal we couldn't refuse on shutters. The guys who came to measure (forgot his name since it was a while ago) and install (Steve and Chris), also awesome. Courteous, took their shoes off as soon as they walked in, friendly and efficient. Really appreciated all of them. Our shutters ended up looking amazing. Add a really nice touch to the house and we're happy with how they turned out. Service and communication from the main office was nonexistent. Colby told us 6-8 weeks for the shutters to arrive. After 8 weeks, I called the office. They said there was a delay because of the holidays and to call them back a week later if I hadn't heard from them. A little annoyed that it was on us to call them back but whatever. Week later my husband calls. The person that answered the phone said someone will call the manufacturer and see what's up and call us back. Never heard back from them. Husband calls again the next day and person says manager will call back. Never heard back. At this point we were extremely frustrated and husband called Colby to say that if we didn't hear anything we would cancel. Colby had to call them, called us back to tell us that our items would be in early February. FINALLY an answer, not even straight from the manager. A week later I got a call to schedule. Lady on the phone said 9:30-10. They showed up at 10:20 - apparently on their end the window was 10-11. Not the end of the world since the installation guys were awesome, and not their fault, but it was the nail in the coffin for communication efforts since my husband and I both rearranged our work schedules for it. I don't know if there was a delay in the ordering or what... that's fine, we can deal with that, just tell us. 2 second email or voicemail. I would *only* recommend them because everyone who came to our house was stellar, which is the reason for the second star. Anyway, almost 3 months later we have our shutters, and like I said they look great, but it was not without frustration on our end. read more

We have used The Blind Guy for various home projects over the past 3 years; plantation shutters, corded blinds and motorized blinds on several windows. I went with The Blind Guy because i noticed the Hunter Douglas warranty... i don't mind paying a bit more if I don't have to worry about warranty issues later, especially with motorized blinds, which are pricey. The original install went well. We had a few teething problems with the motorized blinds (network issues), but Chris and Steve have always been responsive and effective in solving any issues. He not only answered all out questions patiently but looked for ways to keep our vision within a tight budget. These guys have been around for a while and made it through some tough times. We've had occasion to call on him for a few follow-up items, and he couldn't have been more responsive. He goes out of his way to be supportive and provide excellent ongoing customer service. On the other hand, our experience with the office staff was completely opposite! They were neither pro-active nor responsive in terms of providing any kind of information regarding delivery. They didn't even seem to care that the delivery was late. Once we threatened to cancel the order, we finally got some action and some information. Spent a very large amount of money for custom blinds for my home. Was ensured by brad and shannon, the owners that the job would be completed in 3 weeks time. Fast forward to 3 months later, and still no blinds, no returned phone calls, no follow ups, and plenty of exuses. I finally said no more, and cancelled.. and guess what? still no refund. I have been more than patient, but I can not handle giving my business to a company with this kind of work ethic, no thanks! next up, is contacting the better business bureau, my bank to dispute these charges and much more. Just purchased a brand new home in Folsom, CA. We needed window coverings for the entire home, as the builder did not provide them as part of the deal. Truthfully looking for window covering companies was proving to be extremely difficult. I was actually on the road, when I saw "The blind guy's" Mercedes Van drive by. I thought at first, maybe the Mercedes van might mean they will charge a high price? But I liked the wrap and professional appearance of their vehicle. Looked them up here and read some reviews. We then scheduled an initial appointment to get an estimate. The representative was extremely helpful, and helped my wife and I (which have zero artistic ability) pick out some amazing Hunter Douglas, designer roller shades and 2" wood blinds. Seeing that we have zero skills for interior design, we were nervous on how everything would come together. When the product arrived, we were blown away by the quality of the product as well as the appearance. I'm very OCD about having work done on my home, and the installer was meticulous and installed everything with the skill of a surgeon. After posting my Yelp review I was contacted by Chris from the Blind Guy. Chris was very disappointed to hear I had such a poor experience and was very interested in changing my opinion. Chris immediately looked up my order and gave me a timeline on when my second order would be received. The arrival date was still about 2-3 weeks out which was disappointing but just having an answer was super helpful (and really all I wanted). Chris also came out personally the next day and provided me with temporary shades --awesome! Even though they are just paper I appreciated the gesture and having something to cover my windows. Chris was so interested in turning around my experience that he offered me a discount if I were to order shutters for another room and a free blind for our garage window. I took him up on his offer and really hope that my experience turns out well. I will not use this company again due to the lack in follow through with the customer service. My holidays were spent trying to obtain my refund of about $1000 for the product that was cancelled and unavailable at time they promised, they were having internal issues with THEIR vendor. STILL NO refund has been given after almost 1 & 1/2 MONTHS. Several calls placed to track down MY MONEY due to the Rockiln office giving me the run around...horrible company!!! read more

Was on the market for plantation shutters and I called to get a few quotes . Two other competitors came out and I felt like they were rushing me and did not even show me samples. Colby black showed up and took his time with us , showed us the shutter designs and samples and what blew us a way was him walking us through the house to make us imagine all the windows , where the breaks would be , how they would look and made us visualize how they would look. He even price matched and beat the two other bids. We signed up , knowing to would be about two months for them to arrive , but we aeee patient , only problem was he quoted 6 weeks in reality they took 8 weeks , but we are understanding cause they had to be fabricated . I called Tiffany and Ravina were very friendly when I called at the 6 week mark . They kept me constatly updated when they would arrive . Great customer service ladies. Steve and Ron and brad showed up to do the install . They were fast clean and efficient . Steve made our shutters seem less and cleaned up all the mess like no one was ever here. Absolutely terrible workmanship and service. I own a restaurant and we have glass on two sides and my restaurant becomes hot on summer evenings. I had asked for blinds inside and outside. After the work was done I had issue with my door. I had to call them and remind them of the problem to get it resolved. More recently a month ago. Both my external blinds broke and fell down due to faulty workmanship. When a customer ion a wheel chair enters the premises and some lbs holds the door wide open if bends the bracket holding the blind. This is a technical issue and they failed to advise the need for a door stopper or the blinds could have been fixed 6 inches higher. My calls to Mark are always unreturned. They removed the blinds more than 25 days ago and I have not heard a word back with an update. With Sac reeling under a heat wave my customers are feeling the heat in the restaurant. Please stay away. read more
