We just moved into a new office in Rocklin, one of the best parts of this office was the natural light of the large windows. Once we moved in we discovered that we face west and the sunlight was very intense. We contacted The Blind Guy and Colby came out to meet us, he was very informative, showed us all the options and took the time to listen to our needs and wants and came up with the perfect solution for us! He made the entire process so easy we didn't even consider looking elsewhere. Since our order will take a few weeks he went to his shop and returned with some "temporary shades" to use until we get the real ones. I paid over $7,000 for blinds and shutters from another local "Blind" company. When a repair was necessary, I emailed him. I received an email with a dollar figure to make the repair. Nothing else. I sent several emails and made several phone calls asking for a date to make the repair. He was not responsive. Horrible customer service. That other "blind" company has many reviews expressing the lack of customer support, failure to return calls, etc. So I reached out to The Blind Guy. He got back to me within minutes and was out at my house the next day making the repair. Wish I got that kind of customer service from the other Blind company that I paid a lot of money to. All of my future business will go to "The Blind Guy". Don't be fooled by that other local blind company. Just compare the reviews. read more

We ordered shutters in December. They were delivered almost 12 weeks later when we were quoted 6 to 8 weeks. They were the wrong color (off white instead of white) and some were the wrong size (see picture) and they forgot a window as well. We were offered a discount to keep the incorrect shutters but we declined. They were reordered and came in wrong for a second time. They have been reordered for a 3rd time and we still do not have them - we are going on 8 months since our original order. The customer service has been poor. We have been in contact with 3 different people and still cannot seem to get our shutters. We have had to call several times to follow up and get updates when we were told we would be contacted and we were not. I don't feel I should have to manage my own order, that's their job. With so many mistakes made I would not go with this company. read more

I contacted The Blind Guy at the end of September for servicing on a custom-made Hunter Douglas shutter. The representative - Chris - failed to show up at our established appointment. When I called him, he said that he had the appointment written down for one week beyond what we had agreed upon. However, Chris did come to the house that day and assess the problem -- the replacement of a wood louver. He said that it would take approximately 2 weeks to get the part. When 2 1/2 weeks had gone by, I didn't hear anything from Chris. I called him repeatedly and couldn't get him to return my calls. I called about 3 weeks later, asked to speak to the boss and was told he was in Southern California. Finally I heard from Chris, who again told me he wasn't sure what the delay was and that he would get back to me. He did not call me back nor did I receive a call from the owner. By the last week of October, I called The Blind Guy and told them cancel my order; I didn't want to deal with a company that won't return calls to its clients. Perhaps all their representatives don't work in the same way as Chris did -- but that was my experience. I have gone on to work with a company called Three Blind Brothers -- please don't confuse them with The Blind Guy!! If you are looking not only to buy shutters and blinds, but also for on-going servicing of parts, I don't recommend The Blind Guy. read more

Be sure you check with other companies before calling the blind guys. We recently called these guys out for a quote at our new house and they were 25 minutes late to our appointment. Then when they were showing us their products they seem to be in a hurry to get done. We picked out what we wanted and they told us they would get back to us with a quote. It's been over a week and we even called the office to find out about our quote, but nobody called us back. Extremely poor customer service. If you see them at a home show, skip them. Total waste of time. Even after our appointment they went to our neighbors and gave them a quote the same day and even sold them blinds. To this day we had no response from them. read more

When we moved into our new house in 2012 we were excited about ordering our new Hunter-Douglas plantation shutters from "The Blind Guy". Their service was excellent! Over the years, however, the tiny piece of plastic that connected the slat and center bar that moved to open and close the blinds, began to break. Over time, more and more broke in every room, in every panel. I replaced many but finally lost my patience and called the office in October 2017 and insisted someone come and evaluate the situation. I really didn't think anything would be done since it had been 6 years since their instillation. Long story short, The Blind Guy determined that the binds were defective. Because of the poor service by Hunter-Douglas, they had to make several trips to our house, finally taking every single panel down and sending them to Hunter-Douglas to be fixed properly. The staff at The Blind Guy was very professional and responsive to all of our concerns and never charged us a penny! They always had a great attitude every time they had to come to our house. I highly recommend them. They really do stand by their product no matter what! read more

Since using THE BLIND GUY in our first (and only) home, I have made 2 mistakes! The first was not giving them a rave review in 2007 when they installed shutters for the first time. The second was not giving them a rave review when they installed more shutters in 2014. I am not going commit a third mistake by not leaving a well deserved full star review for their third install, that completed the shutters on all the windows of our house, a total of 19 windows! In the beginning we called at least 2 local companies. THE BLIND GUY was the first to respond and schedule a visit to our home to provide an estimate... the rest is history. Their sales staff was well dressed, professional, and ready to do business. We felt like they were more than just contractors or vendors, they were subject matter experts in all things window treatments. They were confident and stood behind their product without being boastful or arrogant. Our last two installs were handled by the same sales staff, Marc. Even though we did business with them before we still got quotes from other companies, and he still came in the lowest! We get along great with Marc. He is friendly, listens to our concerns, definitely is not pushy, and he made us feel comfortable about the price. He described how the goals and values of THE BLIND GUY put the customer first, which has reflected in the success of the company. Our product even arrived much earlier than expected The installer was Gary and he did a great job. Again, professional and friendly. He even made adjustments to our previous installations so they felt even sturdier than before; a service that they would have been happy to do for us anyway, even without the current installation. Even if they were not the lowest estimate, I would be willing to stick with THE BLIND GUY knowing that they do such a great job; and that is saying a lot because my wife and I are frugal. The fit and finish is clean, and the frame and shutters feel firmly mounted in place. I have no doubts they would make it right if I noticed something was loose, crooked, or warped. The product itself looks great. The shutters we picked made our house feel like new. The first installation has held up great over the years, and so far does not show any signs of aging. Honestly, some of their competitors probably carry the same stuff, so it really is about the awesome customer service. We also felt the appreciation they have for us as return customers, even now Marc is helping us resolve some minor details with our shutters that we missed AFTER they were installed! I met with quite a few window covering companies and found a huge range in pricing. In the end, I went with Brian from The Blind Guy due to the fact that his pricing was the best, I felt a good rapport with him and he pointed out some things about my windows that no one else did so I knew he was knowledgable. I ended up putting 3.5" shutters on 12 windows. The shutters took 5 weeks (I knew this up-front) but it was worth the wait. We just moved into a new home in Brentwood. I called 3 companies to come out and give me a bid for shutters. Brian, The Blind Guy, was the first to show up. He was professional and knew his product line. He measured all my windows and gave me a bid. When he left, he went across the street to give my neighbors a bid. A few days later, I talked to that neighbor and discovered he had bids from all the others I was planning to have come. My wife and I decided to start a major remodel project on our entire house at the beginning of 2018, which needed to be completed in multiple phases throughout the entire year while we occupied the house. We started to shop around for Hunter Douglas window coverings at different places, but we didn't get very far. Then we went to the Cal Expo Home Show and met Colby Black at The Blind Guy booth, told him we were right in the middle of our projects and needed to get some ideas for what was going to work best in all the newly remodeled rooms. Colby came out to the house with lots of showroom samples for window coverings, but with his professional expertise of design options and good eye for coordinating colors, it didn't take long at all to finalize exactly what we wanted. And to prevent us from having to live in a fishbowl, Colby hung temporary paper shades which worked out just fine during the fabrication process, and although that doesn't occur overnight, the wait was well worth it. Steve and Ron did a great job with the installations and Colby followed up to make sure everything was perfect, including the wireless connections and phone app for the motorized operation of the shutters and shades throughout the house. We are extremely pleased with not only the product and service we received, but all the new window coverings really put a beautiful final touch on our remodel projects. We went with the Blind Guy to replace the horrible blinds on all the windows in our newly purchased home. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience working with Colby. He is very personable, extremely knowledgeable about his product line, and truly understands the value of providing great customer service. He listens to what you want and makes great suggestions if you aren't sure what you want. Actually the whole crew was wonderful. I work at home, and everyone who came to my house to measure and do the installations was very respectful of this and worked around me with minimal disruption. They were quick, efficient, and neat. My only complaint is that I (like everyone else) was given a 6-8 week delivery window, and even though I was told that delivery could take a little longer because of the holidays, I wasn't prepared for the 12 weeks it actually took. I know it was a manufacturing issue and I don't blame the Blind Guy-- but waiting for your new shades when you can't stand looking at the old ones is like waiting for a bad haircut to grow out. Perhaps they should give a more realistic delivery estimate in the first place so that people aren't set up for disappointment. In the end, we're very happy with our new shades, including the perfect color Colby suggested that we would not have picked on our own, and we would use The Blind Guy again. read more

As a first time home buyer I was overwhelmed with purchasing appliances, furnishing rooms I'd never had before etc, etc. Truthfully window coverings had almost slipped my mind. I found The Blind Guy on Angies List and they came highly reccomended, so I arranged a consult. Mark ( the salesman ) arrived promptly and was very friendly, seemed to be honest and was full of ideas that I would have never thought of. He explained the difference in products and the quality of those products. Most of all I did not feel " Pitched" too...We had a conversation about blinds, and that was quite comfortable. Got two estimates and chose blind guy on the recommendation of a relative and because the sales rep did not seem so in a rush to leave and product appeared better than the other. Ordered shutters and drapes. Shutters were on time and installed without incident. We are very happy with the shutters. The drapes were installed in two narrow pieces (was supposed to be one large piece) and covered only half of the intended opening. Half of the payment was made at the time of order and the balance was to be paid upon completion of the job. However, the company charged my credit card for the balance two months before the job was completed. Chris promised us a discount of slightly over $200 to compensate for all the snafus and delays. Sent him e-mails and left messages on his cell phone. No response. We do not recommend doing business with this company. read more

I created a Yelp account specifically to leave a good review for these guys. I had a challenging requirement, with some very high windows and needed motorized blinds. The design team know exactly what was needed and made great suggestions. The installer was very polite and professional. He even padded the top of the ladder as to not mark up the wall and wore gloves when handling the new blinds. I was extremely impressed. On top of the great service, their prices were half what others wanted to charge for similar motorized solution. BTW, the Hunter Douglas PowerView system is very cool. Brian was great when we purchased a new home last year and needed $7000 worth of shutters. He was responsive and quick delivery/installation with a fair price. Our satisfaction stops there. I have been trying to contact him for 2 months (MULTIPLE PLEAS to contact me) to Order the Shutters for the last few Windows we were undecided on originally. He had the measurements and already gave us the pricing. He literally just needed to get our credit card and to place the order. So simple! I guess the order for the 3 remaining shutters isn't worth his time as I can't even get an email reply out of him. I finally called another local company which turned out to be about $100 more overall but within 8 days of my original call for an estimate I had the exact shutters installed. That company gets a 5 star review and the blind guy gets a bad review from us. Anyone considering this company should take their money elsewhere. We live in a new subdivision so as our new neighbors are moving in we will be highly recommending that they call Michael at catalog blinds. read more
