I'm totally ready to attend a black tie only wedding event at the Drake Hotel thanks to TBT! Making an appointment online was the right move to make. "Gigi" took my measurements right away. My advice is to go through the tux styles and colors online and get an idea of what you want. It just makes it easier to have a starting place. The fitting appointment is good for 1-hour. I decided to go for the full package: jacket, pant, shirt, bowtie, and shoes. It get's mailed to me 10 days before the event so I can try it on and make sure everything is in working order. read more

The person that did my fitting was not helpful at all. They clearly just wanted to finish my fitting as fast as possible with no regard for how I looked They were annoyed that I asked to try on multiple sizes of items. At one point, they said I shouldn't try on one of the items because "it should fit" I ultimately found items that fit but they sent the wrong jacket size. I exchanged the jacket with a new size, based on the recommendation in their app. This new jacket size had extremely long sleeves and was not wearable. Tired of going back and forth with shopping, I asked if I could go into a store and leave with the garments that fit but they said no. I finally ordered third jacket but was forced to pay for shipping despite them sending the wrong jacket initially and recommending the wrong size on the second try. Pants for tux did not fit and they do not answer phones or respond to emails sent to support as they suggest. Fitting exp was good but once you order and leave the store the service is really bad. Had to wait over 20 min for call center to pick up. No way to directly call store. Frustrating exp. Suggestion. Have stores pick up phones or get a better call center. They have no in-person services for adjustments or alterations. They have no ability to fix their mistakes. This is not a real service. Original: I went to get measured. They sent the wrong size shirt. Guess what happens when you need to order a replacement: they hit you hard for the shipping. I've already paid them $300, and they want more to fix their mistake. THIS. This place is everything. Let me start off by saying that after many, MANY unsuccessful attempts at other tux rental places, I was dumbfounded. How are there tons of bridal boutiques, but not even a handful of tux rental places?! Isn't the groom as important as the bride?! My husband stumbled upon this place, and when we walked in I was first astounded by the beauty of the place, and then realized how personal the workers were. LOVED it from here on out. My husband wanted navy/blue suits- they had a range of blue hues. WHO KNEW THERE WERE SO MANY BLUES?! My husband wanted slim cut pants- easy as pie. My husband wanted different cuff links for him than his guys- done without a problem. Everything was so effortless and easy here. Icing on the cake was when I saw my favorite blogger also use them for her wedding. I was sold. I may be biased, but my husband and the groomsmen looked GREAT on our wedding day. Anything that needed tailoring was comped to a certain price point, and delivery (as well as any needed exchanges) were all very timely. I had an incredible experience with this business. I went in for a tux fitting and had no idea what to expect. The process was, smooth, professional, and honestly pleasant. The space is comfortable and the woman who helped with my fitting knew what she was doing. The tux showed up to my door, on time and packaged perfectly. We had our wedding and everything went great. The groomsmen all looked SO GOOD and outfits were definitely on fleek that day. While my husband got fitted at an actual store, all the other boys just entered measurements online. Everyone's suits fits very nicely and receiving and returning very easy. Received the first tux which was a little small so we reordered the next size. The first replacement looked wrinkled and not quite clean and was missing the buckle on the side of the pants. So we called the company to send a replacement same size. The replacement comes in also looking like it had never been cleaned or pressed. The jacket was also missing the bottom button. It is amazing this company can operate like this. At this point it's too late and we have no other options so we have to spend time pressing and trying to make it look decent for the wedding. If zero stars were possible that's what I would give this place. First, a week before our destination wedding they told us they weren't able to fulfill orders that had been confirmed and paid for for months. Second, no one answers their phone. We had to go to the store three days before we left (while another couple was also there in the same situation and panicked), and beg for a solution. All we got was some Gen Z chick, with zero customer service skills who said "sorry wish we could help". Third, when we finally did get ahold of their Chicago area manager, Albert, he informed us he was getting married in a few days and wasn't even using his own company because of how bad things were with them. He PROMISED us, the regional manager Nick would reach out to us for a resolution. That was five days ago and we have yet to hear from a "Nick". My fiancé went back to the store two days before we left and they said they would be able to provide other styles of tuxedos and would rush order them to the groomsmen. We were frustrated but had no other option than to have mismatched groomsman styles. Guess what! TODAY, we get an email from Sujin at the Armitage location who said "sorry, the alternative option got cancelled. We have nothing to offer you". Save your time, save your stress and save your money. Go ANYWHERE but this place if you have any expectations of fulfilled orders. Damian made us feel confident about our choices both in color and stylistically, and even recommended a few extra styling ideas that we think will really tie the whole wedding party look together! There were more options here than at other stores, and the fact that we could buy my fiance's suit and have his attendants rent theirs from the same location is excellent value. My fiancé and all of his groomsmen had issues with the sizes of the tuxes they got even though they all went and got measured. They were measured in Los Angeles (at a Nordstroms) and it was a thorough process. To pay a premium for a custom fitting and then receive clothes that aren't even close to fitting is ridiculous. Cool concept, poor execution. While my wife had some nightmares with online formal dress rentals in the past, I was hesitant for the same reasons to utilize The Black Tux. Our wedding planner had suggested them from the get go and I put out the option for my groomsmen to use the service. Not being so familiar with where to rent tuxedos from in Chicago, I figured I'd give it a go since we had a $20 off code. The way it works... show up to one of their store fronts or a supporting Nordstrom location to get measured, pick out your suit or tux and accessories, then everything gets shipped directly to your home "ready to wear". While the process of making an appointment and getting fitted I thought went great at their Chicago location, when they actually shipped out my tuxedo that's when everything went downhill... My shirt... too small at the neck. My bowtie... would just never seem to sit straight. The worst part... my jacket. One sleeve was longer than the other. W.T.F. After talking with a rep to fix the situation, they ended up sending me a collar extender and a shirt size up to fix the too small of a shirt, and to fix the jacket they instructed me to bring to the nearest tailor where they could reimburse me the cost up to $15. Of course price of tailor went over $15 and I had to argue with them that this two different sleeve length jacket was their fault and I shouldn't be paying for something they got wrong. Add in the fact that my wedding less than 2 weeks away, plus we needed to leave a few days early to get to the location didn't really help with the timing of getting everything fixed accordingly. That being said... if I had do it again. I'd rent through somewhere else. Maybe I drew the short end of the stick during my experience, but I felt like that was unnecessarily stressful. Do not rent from them! I have never experienced such unprofessional, unethical, and incompetent treatment from a company. My fiance went and got his tux fitted and ordered in July for our 9/14 wedding. The contract said we would get the tux ten days before our wedding. Eight days out, we never received any communication and called the hotline (you cannot call the actual stores). We were told they "didn't know why it wasn't sent but would be overnighted and it would arrive no later than the next two days." Two days comes and does, no tux. We call again and they said it was still not sent out and they don't know why but it would be overnighted again and be there Tuesday 9/10. Tuesday comes, no tux. Call again and they said, "we PROMISE it will arrive Wednesday, 9/11." I asked what happens now if it doesn't fit? They said it they will overnight new items if needed (sure). We get to Thursday 9/12 STILL NO TUX, lied to over and over again. FedEx then "tries" to deliver to The Black Tux store but "no one was there to accept it." So on late Thursday evening, we had to go to the FedEx warehouse to get it. Guess what? Two items don't fit. We went to Men's Warehouse who saved our wedding and got us a beautiful tux that day just in time for our Saturday 9/14 wedding. No bride or groom should EVER have to deal with this stress and being continuously gaslit and lied to. By the way, Men's Warehouse says this has started happening with Black Tux frequently and they get a lot of panicked brides and grooms. Save yourself stress, go elsewhere. read more

The Black Tux was incredible for my wedding. My groomsmen and I had a great experience renting from Black tux, with a good portion of us opting to eventually purchase our rented tuxes. Personally, the Chicago showroom welcomed me in for multiple sessions to both decide on the final attire for the wedding day and getting the fit absolutely perfect. The Black Tux was the perfect choice for our groomsmen & ushers for the wedding! I asked each of our groomsmen & they all said 5/5 stars, easy process, and they'd order from them again. Great experience, highly recommend! The process was VERY easy. My husband, being the groom, went online & added each groomsman/usher (so they'd receive emails/necessary information) & selected the suit he wanted them to order. They put in their sizing info & ordered, and the suit was sent directly to them. They have directions on how to measure yourself OR you can go into their on-site location (in Chicago) to get fitted. We had both situations & both worked out great. We actually ended up buying ties from The Tie Bar (attached to the physical location of the Black Tux in Chicago) as part of our gift to the groomsmen. One groomsman received the wrong size, and a simple call got him a new pair of pants mailed out within a day. He still received everything on time. Another groomsman was getting SUPER into the dancing & dropped it low at our reception...and ripped his pants! He was prepared to pay a fee when he let them know what happened & returned the suit, but they actually ended up giving him a DISCOUNT because they said they shouldn't have ripped so easily (and he had to change pants mid reception haha). Such a nice way to treat a customer! The suits looked fabulous & were great quality! More modern looking suits & better fitting than more traditional vendors...and for a better price. I LITERALLY cannot say enough bad things about this place. I woke up this morning, less than a month before my wedding, and thank freaking god I checked my email because they cancelled my order. Again, less than a month before my wedding. I'm the groom. Kind of a big deal to have a tux at your own wedding. Here's what's worse - I got fitted and made the order 11 MONTHS AGO. So for 10 months, the Black Tux sat on their hands, did absolutely nothing, decided at more or less the last minute to cancel my order, and then decided "hey an email should be totally sufficient, no need to call this groom and let him know in case he doesn't check his email for a day or two." A lesser, though still deeply irritating, detail - they are absolutely impossible to get on the phone. Uncommunicative, unresponsive, absolutely horrendous service. Ok, what started in disappointment ended in The Black Tux doing everything in their power to make it right. They same day aired a suit to my wedding location, which required putting it on a plane the hiring a courier to drive up to the mountains for two hours. I already bought a backup suit for my brother, they offered to give the cost for that. They refunded my order. Then allowed me to rent another suit at a later date. Yeah, they shouldn't change shipping programs at the height of wedding season. But the amount that this company did to make it right was truly incredible. The suit looks nice also. I tried to reschedule the appointment, and they were booked out past my event. I was just renting one tux as a wedding guest, so my guess is they prioritized a larger group order. Great concept, but poor execution for a business that requires more personalized attention. We drove about 40-miles and arrived late because of traffic. Although an e-mail told us it was okay, when we arrived the lady in the store there no way to accommodate us. She said she was the only person there and therefore she absolutely could not take us. She wasn't very helpful at all. A wedding is a very personal event in persons life, so the thought that we drive that far and was planning to use their business which only offers very limited hours, really sucks. Makes me wonder what would happen if changes occurred had we used them, Not on the top of my list for what should be the start of a great experience. My husband is in a wedding next weekend and all of the groomsmen have received their tux rentals except for my husband. We've spent several days calling customer service, waiting on hold for over an hour, to never get anyone on the phone. There is no direct number to the stores themselves. My husband also put in an online case number and finally got a response saying that the shoes are out of stock and won't be available any time in the near future. The options offered do not even come close to comparable. This business prides themselves on custom and quality however there has been no quality work done in this situation. When I called around to other tux rental companies to see if they would have a similar style shoe, they mentioned that I was not the only person calling due to an error caused by the black tux that needed to quickly be resolved. do not use this company if you have the vision of everyone in your wedding party coordinating for your wedding day! After being extremely disappointed with my experience at Men's Warehouse, a friend recommended that I check out The Black Tux. The difference was night and day. I had the pleasure of dealing with their salesperson, William - he was great (deserves a raise). Super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. My husband is standing in a wedding in 11 days from today. His tux delivered on Friday evening, 5/14 and tried it on in less than 48 hours of delivery as noted in the instructions should you need to get another size, sure enough he needs to go a size up. We cannot get a hold of anyone since our request on Sunday, (5/16) at noon to ensure he will get a new size in time for the wedding on 5/29/21. We need someone to help ASAP please! Working with this company has been an absolute disaster. I rented a suit in September and it fit perfectly and was a great experience, two months later I am just now having this rental resolved. They make a beautiful product, but they are disorganized. Make sure to save copies of anything you receive with pricing on it, lest they charge you more for it. I ordered a tuxedo, tie, shirt and shoes for a wedding I attended in September. They arrived in a box along with a card that offered for me to purchase some of the pieces, all I had to do was keep them when I sent back the box. I had returned all the pieces, save a shirt and tie. I received an email that I was not able to buy the tie and had to return it and that the shirt would be $30 more than the price it was offered for me to purchase it at. After going back and forth for countless emails, I am just now (9 weeks later) getting this issue resolved. The service representative that I have been working with was also very flippant and at times downright rude. It has become somewhat more work than I had anticipated it to be and has put me off working with them again. read more

I walked in off the street to buy a tuxedo. Apparently, the way this shop works, is that you have to establish an online account once you are in the shop. I was not comfortable with that and said so. They said that's the way we do it here. Then they ask for an email address, a date of birth, and when buying a tux shoe size. I explained that I don't see how my shoe size is relevant when I am buying a talks. I got pushback telling me that these are all normal questions that they need to ask, I said I don't see how my birthday is relevant. I did not care for the attitude, when when I explained I didn't see how my date of birth or shoe size had anything to do with me buying a used tux. That's when I decided I was not going to give them any more information, and said I'd have to leave the store and said thank you.
