What impressed me most, however, was the hospitality. From the young man who opened the door, to the gentleman operating the elevator, to our wonderful waitress, Kyla, everyone was pleasant, professional, and welcoming. The dining room was beautiful, the oversized chairs were comfortable, and the view overlooking Dolton and the Bishop Ford was relaxing. We felt genuinely welcomed. This is what supporting Black-owned businesses is about--recognizing excellence, investing in our communities, and celebrating businesses that are doing something RIGHT!

My aunt and I are big on supporting Blacked Owned Businesses. Today was our first time visiting this establishment. When we arrived, the lady at the door escorted us to the elevator. I was feeling the graffiti inspired art. When we arrived to main floor, the staff greeted us . We were the first customers. I admit, the ambiance was nice. Out waitress Lyric was really nice and attentive. We all ordered the Creole Fried Catfish. They have a nice menu selection. I admit the food was good. Fish fried to perfection, the creole sauce was at first a little off putting but the more I tasted, the flavor was even more delicious. The rice was everything! Although, this establishment did faced a rocky opening with all the views and the unfair controversy in its beginning stages of being a new restaurant , they definitely did not disappoint. I admit. I was impressed.

The food at Stoney Point Grill in Homewood was honestly disappointing, and the menu was not what I…read moreexpected at all. For the pricing, I expected much better flavor, quality, and overall creativity. The shareables were overpriced, the drinks were mid-level at best, and nothing really stood out enough to justify the cost. The space itself is nice and works well as a social spot or sports bar atmosphere where you can sit, talk, watch games, and enjoy company. That part of the experience was probably the highlight. However, the service was also lacking because the restaurant seemed noticeably short-staffed. It took a long time to receive attention and proper service throughout the visit, which added to the frustration. Overall, the location and atmosphere have potential, but the menu, food quality, drink execution, pricing, and staffing experience need major improvement to match the type of establishment they appear to be aiming for.

However, a friend got stood up, so I came in to fill the spot. First, I have to say this is definitely a nice little spot tucked into Homewood. It sits right in the heart of its town-ish downtown area and really completes that "where to go and meet the locals" vibe. The staff is always nice, and the drinks are always strong. Honestly, I would love to have something like this in the South Loop, but at the same time, I think part of what makes it work is exactly where it is. The main floor is comfortable and accessible, with loveseats, bar stools, and plenty of space to settle in. It falls just a hair short of having that comfortable neighborhood restaurant feel, just without the restaurant or the food. The cool part is that you can bring in food from any of the local places down the street, which fits perfectly with the whole neighborhood atmosphere. Then there's the basement speakeasy, which has an entirely different feel and is easily one of my favorite parts of the place. Overall, this is one of those places that reminds you that you don't always have to head into the city to find a great night out. It's comfortable, welcoming, has plenty of personality, and feels like it belongs exactly where it is. If you're in the south suburbs and looking for a place to grab a strong drink, meet up with friends, or just settle in and enjoy the evening, this should absolutely be on your list.

When you first walk in, there is the bar with comfy seating at the bar and lounge area. The concert was downstairs so staff guides you where to go when coming in. Concert was fantastic and pricing was excellent for all what we got that night. The mood setting is nice downstairs for a concert. I had a lemondrop from the bar which was really good. Karaoke was on a school night. A DJ controls the Karaoke selections using Karafun. There were about 8 of us there. The DJ was playing good music in between if you wanted to take the mic and sing. Our group individually sang a few songs. It would be nice to have more of an enthusiastic audience, that is what we are used to at other venues. All in all, this is a great spot. Staff is super friendly, especially the female bar attendant on the main floor. I wished they served food here but you can order food for delivery to eat inside. Thanks Copper Still!

It is so relaxing to have a drink on the patio overlooking the golf course. I have rarely seen it crowded unless there is a special event. They often have live music inside and that can generate a crowd. The hours are shorter than you would expect for a watering hole. They close at 8:30. I'm told that has something to do with their relationship to the park district, but whatever the reason it's kind of nice. It attracts adults. There will be no "going for one drink" and then somehow stumbling home in the wee hours (we've all done that right? not just me??). Pop in have a couple drinks and go home. As for the food, I can say while there's nothing particularly remarkable, I have yet to have a bad bite here. The menu is appetizers, salads, sandwiches and pizza. We usually gravitate toward the apps: fried pickle spears ($8.25) with ranch are delicious but eat them fast - soggy spears are no good, Angus beef sliders (3 for $10.75) are always juicy and well seasoned - you may even want to order 2, The big Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese ($10) an absolute must. If you're looking for a low key place to catch up with a friend or unwind after the day from hell, give them a try (and you'll be home in time for the nightly news!)

The dinner menu is heavy on fish and seafood: whitefish, perch, shrimp, frog legs, snapper, walleye, lobster, orange roughy, catfish, mahi mahi, crabcakes, fried clams, and basa. They filet all of it themselves. They also serve chicken, steaks, ribs, pork chops, sandwiches, and apps. I had the walleye and fried chicken. The walleye was lightly battered, the flavor of the fish coming through, and brushed with butter for some of the tastiest fried fish around. I haven't had fried chicken in years, but went back for seconds and thirds, it was great. Everything has a from-scratch feel to it. Rye bread from a local bakery is always available.
