    Delcious Calabrian chili and shrimp!
    Tia P.

We came to The Bistro on 2nd to celebrate some fantastic news. We made a reservation. When we got there we were greeted right away and taken to our table. The service was excellent, polite, friendly but somewhat reserved (not too much in our face). The atmosphere is nice with dimmed lighting ... but not so dimmed that you can't read the menu. It was quiet and serene. My wine was fantastic. My husband enjoyed his IPA. We started with a calabrian chili pepper and shrimp app. Loved it! Cooked perfectly with just such a nice heat level from the chilies. We both ordered the elk tenderloin and it was the best elk I've ever eaten. (I grew up rural in Idaho and ate a LOT of elk.) The elk was cooked beautifully, the flavors amazing and so cohesive. The brussel sprouts were so delicious with excellent textures. I could eat that meal every darn day! YUM!

My group of friends came here to celebrate a birthday and found the experience to be wonderful. Service was friendly and attentive, the food and drinks were tasty, and the ambiance warm. Starting with drinks, I was unable to drink alcohol at the time and asked for a mocktail. Our server described a drink that included lilikoi and a few other fruit juices. It turned out to be an incredibly delicious and I wish I had a recipe for it! Our table shared the bacon wrapped stuffed dates, fried brussel sprouts, and the watermelon salad as starters. The sweet was of the dates along with the strawberry compote and balsamic reduction went well with the creaminess of the chèvre and savoriness of the bacon. My one nit here would be that parts of the bacon were a bit hard and chewy. The fried brussels were also well done with crispy exterior bits and soft interior bits. The watermelon salad was a refreshing option to counteract the richness of the other two starters. Half our group got the pappardelle and the other half got either the elk or the filet mignon. The meat options were all very tender. The ancho coffee rub added a nice smokiness to the elk. The pappardelle was also really good. Can't really go wrong with fresh pasta, pesto, tomatoes, mozzarella, summer vegetables, and a balsamic reduction. If you're looking for a good place in or around Monument, you can't go wrong with bistro on 2nd.

Everything here is absolutely amazing, from the intimate seating, great staff, great outdoor seating, and the menu and food are freaking top notch! It's now my favorite restaurant in the Colorado Springs area. You definitely want to come here!

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. We stopped in here having no idea. This would be such an exquisite dining experience. Truly fine dining. The chef has put a lot of thought into the dishes. We had the brussels sprout appetizer. The best I've probably ever had at any restaurant in my life. Not soggy. Quite tasty. The dates and the bacon are just the right touch. My wife had the pans your chicken. Not heavy or rich at all. Potatoes were fantastic. And the roasted tomato was fantastic. I had stuffed pork loin. The stuffing was perfect sort of a cornbread mash with chopped jalapeños and seasonings. On the side were roasted potatoes along with roasted arugula season with a candid jalapeño sauce. Not heavy at all. Extremely tasty.

Filet with mashed potatoes & asparagus

This has been on my list to check out since it's close to home and has good reviews. We started with the heirloom tomatoes and mozzarella. It was on grilled bread and while the flavor was good, eating it was not. It was too tough to really cut or bite through the bread. Causing a bunch of the topping to fall off. All three of us had the filet, so I can't speak to any other entrees. Without fail, I always get the filet with the fat or tendon piece! The filet was tender, but about 1/4 of mine was inedible stuff. My son ordered medium rare and his was more rare than my husbands or mine and we ordered rare. I'm not a huge mashed potato fan, but they were pretty tasty. We each had two huge spears of asparagus that were okay. All three of us said we'd give it three stars. This includes a 14 year old and we all know their standards aren't that high! It's in an old house and there are multiple small dining rooms, so it's definitely not private.

Marinated tomato & burrata bruschetta (left) and Calabrian peppers & shrimp

I had a chance to visit this cute bistro yesterday (6/22/2021) and had a wonderful experience so I must write about it. This place is situated on the main 2nd Street in Monument which will be like the next Castle Rock (as it is a growing residential area) in my opinion. It's got a great ambiance with good amount of seating inside and outside. It's charming may not fully describe this place's lovely Euro atmosphere. This place may look like a restaurant for wine lovers (and it actually is) but they do have an extensive drink menu (beers to mules to other hard liquor cocktails, you name it.) The only thing I can state in this review as a suggestion is that I wish it had a larger food menu. It'd be nice to see at least one more item added to the main/entree section. We ordered marinated tomato & burrata bruschetta and calabrian peppers & shrimp (both of them are appetizers) to accompany our drinks and they were a good portion for their prices and were delicious. If you want to take a break from the busy city's hustle bustle and dine at a quiet, quaint restaurant with a great ambiance then this is the place for you.

A lovely place for a romantic birthday dinner located in the heart of old town Monument. Friendly hostess and fantastic wait staff.

This place was impressive from the minute we arrived till we departed from the restaurant. The server & server assistant & bartender were on point very professional , friendly & very attentive. Forgive me , I forgot their names but one young lady looked she was still in high but she was super sweet & attentive & our server was a Hispanic lady who was very attentive & efficient. We didn't get any full on dinners but appetizers & dessert & cocktails. The bartender suggested the house hot chocolate which was a totally clear no whip topping it was good but I preferred the key lime mule ! Sushi ( ahi) nachos (absolute favorite ) and steak bites w/ a cheese dip & sticky noodles & key lime mule which my daughter bragged about & it was absolutely delicious & amazing! I would definitely order that drink again ! It honestly looked too pretty to drink . We had lemon type of cake & my daughter didn't care for it . The appetizer special was burrata with prosciutto and bread which was phenomenal. The cheese wheel was really good and obviously had LOTS of cheese. I recommend adding the meatballs or lobster if you like that. Desserts were par for the course: chocolate cake and cheesecake when we went. Definitely recommend!

The ambiance is as good as it gets in town, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a special night out. HOWEVER, I would eat at home and come for drinks and MAYBE dessert. There were eight of us, and not one of our meals was palatable. The steaks were tough, overcooked, and tasteless. The sharp scent of the lobster mac and cheese reached clear to the other end of the table. The baked brie tasted good but needed a knife to cut through the skin. And the Beef Stroganoff was in a class by itself. Tasteless, and the "homemade noodles" were like cutting and eating rubber bands. I don't think there was a mushroom on the plate, and I've never had dry Stroganoff before. The trout looked and felt like leather and was totally tasteless. The only thing any of us would have reordered was the Brussel sprouts. We have eaten here several times (the definition of insanity?), and I kept making excuses thinking maybe the chef was sick and someone else was cooking that night. But at roughly $100 per person with a drink and tip, we won't go back for a meal until they get a new chef or a new menu or new recipes - or all of the above. Love the place, but the food is ALWAYS a disappointment.

We were a party of six and the largest table in an otherwise nearly empty restaurant. I was dining with my autistic son and politely requested his burger and fries at least three times so he could sit and settle. Despite this, his food took over 30 minutes and all meals came out separately. While waiting, I was actively supervising and redirecting my son in the empty restaurant. The owner approached me and stated that if I couldn't get him "under control," we would need to leave, repeatedly mentioning that she also has an autistic child--an irrelevant and dismissive comment. Autism is not one-size-fits-all. Once my son finally received his burger, he sat calmly and ate without issue, exactly as explained. Instead of enjoying time with family I hadn't seen in 20 years, the situation escalated unnecessarily. After the meal, the police were called to trespass me despite us already leaving. The officers were polite and professional. Food quality was also lacking (the fish was chewy). Children, including autistic children, belong in public spaces. My son didn't need entertainment or judgment--he needed his food. This restaurant failed in service, accessibility, and basic decency. I was not able to even get a picture with my family.....
