We typically come to this "plaza" for family dinner as many local families do. If I'm not mistaken The berry bar is the only dessert place in the area and that's why the customer strategy amazed me. The ownership/management is terrible they are terribly RUDE. First it's a frozen yogurt place. If anyone has been to a frozen yogurt place you know it's self-serve. This place does not believe in sample cups. Which okay I can get past that but their thing is "grab a cup serve the yogurt you are interested PAY for it. If you don't like it do it all over again" the toppings ... you may not touch them ur self someone is there to serve them for you. The owner yelled at us over placing the levelers all the way up on flavors WE SID NOT EVEN USED!! and on top of it all he asked for a tip after their horrible service/attitudes Just skip it better stuff with amazing service down the road. Soooo I didn't read the reviews before going, but I definitely experienced the whole "read the sign" treatment. HOWEVER... as someone with severe OCD, I actually prefer this format. I love knowing the items are well attended to and not mushy or days old like the froyo place nearby (super gross!!). The owners and the employee running the shop operate it stricter than the army -- and you know what? I actually kind of love it. Environment looks and feels clean. we're visiting Houston and I decided to take my sister into the berry bar on a Tuesday (and that's most definitely my fault) my sister is disabled and has severe episodes that are debilitating and cause fainting and collapses and subsequently has a fully trained medical alert/mobility service dog to prevent her from severely injuring herself and to alert of her status. When we entered the berry bar we were greeted to the kind face of a woman at the front and the not so kind face of the owner who in no uncertain terms (against ADA guidelines) told us that my sisters service dog that she needs every moment of every day cannot enter the facility and proceeds to yell at us that there's no service dogs allowed (against ADA guidelines and rulings by The Doj) and that the service dog would have to stay outside he followed up with a very angry tirade that caused my sister to walk out of the establishment and immediately have a medical episode my mother was with us and proceeded to go in and alert the owner of the distress he caused. the owner, proceeds to slam his fists on the counter and say " I didn't make anyone upset" the atmosphere was nice and needless to say we didn't try the froyo because the service was bad enough and it made us want to "fro go away" If anybody ask us if we would go back again I would definitely say fro no read more

I wanted some dessert after dinner and stumbled on this place after looking at maps for some nearby icecream/froyo places. All of the froyo dispensers had signs on them that stated that customers could not take samples of the froyo flavors with the cups provided because it was unsanitary. I thought that the sign meant that we couldn't get our own samples using the big cups so I asked if there was different sample cups like other places have and if a worker could get the sample instead. The lady at the front started screaming at me that I should've read the sign and that it said no samples allowed and that it was unsanitary. She was unnecessarily rude, and the male owner came out to say that they don't offer samples (which is 100% fine- she didn't have to be rude about it). While I was looking at the different flavors to decide which one to get, the male owner came up to me and started boasting about how he has been in the business for over 20 years, has multiple froyo locations, how he makes his froyo fresh everyday, and that its the best froyo shop in the area. When I got my froyo flavors from the dispenser, the lady in the front came up and started immediately yelling that the handle wasn't up all the way (which it was). Then the male owner told me I couldn't scoop my toppings because it was unsanitary and they did it for me (which is also fine, I don't mind). While I was eating my froyo, the male owner came outside and continue boasting about his froyo shop and how it was the best. Honestly, the froyo wasent that great. It was subpar at best. The flavors all tasted not great, I got the Strawberry and Cheesecake. The froyo consistency was somehow grainy and liquidy at the same time. It melted quicker than usual froyo and was like flavored watered down milk. I would not come back, the lady worker and male owner were both rude and made me feel really uncomfortable. Do not listen to the bad reviews of this place! I have been going here for years (probably over 100 times) and the food is so good, the owners are so nice like some of the nicest and wholesome people ever, it is a little weird when they look at the cameras to make sure people don't steal but I've seen kids and adults alike try and steal frozen yogurt but they are seriously some of the nicest people I have met, the frozen yogurt isn't expensive at all, way cheaper and healthier then menchies. The froyo is fine; the people are RUDE. My daughter accidentally dropped an empty cup, and I told her to throw it away and get a new one, as anyone would do. The people there yelled for her to wait as she was at the trash can, which I thought was weird, but she threw it away too quickly and they said, "it's fine" and we kept going. As we checked out, the man told us that next time we ever drop a cup, give it to them because sometimes people come in asking for water and they use those cups. Wow! Decided to partake in some froyo after dinner. Walked in and there were a few family already sitting, and it seemed like a nice environment... we couldn't be more WRONG. We notice there was no way to sample, and decided to put a little in a cup to try before committing . We thought it was all fine until the manager comes from behind us, and proceeds to treat us like children. Yelling " if you don't like sour don't get sour we DON'T do samples here." And immediately blamed us for a mess on the floor we didn't make. We felt so awkward and didn't want froyo at that point, but decided it would way more awkward to leave. So when making our second attempt to get froyo the owners wife felt the need to scold us too. Telling me to pick a basic flavor like chocolate or vanilla, the audacity. The checkout process was even more awkward as they felt the need to continue to criticize our topping choices saying "if you don't like sour froyo why do you like sour candy?" That's wild. I absolutely LOVE The Berry Bar! My husband stopped here one night because he wanted a smoothie and it came up on his phone maps. They had an avocado smoothie on the menu, and I being an avocado aficionado had to get one. I happily sent him there. The avocado smoothie was delicious! I hadn't found a good one since I left California 8 years ago. The place I used to get it from was a small Vietnamese place so I wasn't sure I'd find something again. The Berry Bar proved me wrong. If you're an avocado fan I recommend you try it. You have the option of adding boba as well if you enjoy them. My husband has gotten the piña colada boba and since our first visit I have gotten the Mangonada (extra spicy) and Vietnamese iced coffee. All were amazing and delicious. I am going to stop and say it here: I'm addicted! The prices are reasonable for and smoothie bar. Aside from smoothies and milk teas you also have the option of getting frozen yogurt or an açaí bowl. I haven't tried any of those but have heard great things about those items. The place itself is very cheerful and bright. There are a few games like Jenga and checkers available to play with while you wait or hang out with friends for a bit. I think my favorite thing about this place, though, is the owner. She is so welcoming and super sweet. It's always a pleasant experience when I do stop by for a treat. If you're a fan of boba milk teas, fro-yo, or açaí bowls I highly recommend a visit to the Berry Bar. You won't be disappointed and who knows? It may be you're new favorite smoothie place. Product: decent selection of flavors but not too many that jumped out at me. I tried the coconut and cookies n cream but neither really wowed me; they just didn't pack enough flavor compared to other fro-yo places I have visited. When you get to the counter, you can add a number of toppings. I do like the option to be able to do that but if you *have to* pile on toppings to enjoy the fro-yo then something is lacking in your main product and, sadly, it was. My sister who works in the area and has been here before said she normally orders shakes and she highly recommends them. Venue: not very busy last night but that may have been because it was Easter and many folks may have stayed home after a busy morning & afternoon. At any given time while we were there there may have been another 1-2 customers. The tables and surroundings were very clean and I did observe the staffer come by when she was free, between customers, to wipe down the fro-yo dispenser area. Apart from the tables inside, there is also seating on the patio. Parking: there is tons of parking around the venue and additional parking in the garage that's a short walk down.
