I am very disappointed with Bell Tower Salon Spa services. They changed my appointment for a 90 minute Hot Stone massage 3 times without a valid reason. I received a TEXT from Bell Tower (610)372-6379 on 1/26/26 at 4:40 pm that stated: "Good afternoon Marie. This is Cynthia, Guest Service Coordinator, at Bell Tower Salon Spa. I am reaching out to confirm your appt tomorrow (TUES) 1/27/26 for a 90 minute Hot stone massage with Paige at 9AM. I tried calling you but there is a temporary error message instead due to a cancellation Paige has later in her day to help streamline her schedule more efficiently? Kindly let me know at your earliest convenience. Thank you." I responded with a TEXT: "Yes on 1030 am tomorrow is good. Thank you." I received a TEXT back: " Thank you for your TEXTING Bell Tower Salon Spa. You have reached us outside of our business hours. We will respond to your text message during our Guest Services hours Monday through Saturday 9:00 am- 5:00 pm." (So why was this message sent at 4:40 pm then? Why was this sent so late?? Bell Tower said they will respond to my text but did not do so immediately.) I received another TEXT from Bell Tower salon Spa at a different number (855) 661-0746 on 1/26/27 9:06 am that stated: "Bell Tower Salon Spa: " Reminder your appt is Tuesday 1/27/26 at 9:00 AM. Please call or TEXT if you need to cancel or reschedule to not acquire a cancellation fee." I responded with a TEXT: "Yes." (To confirm) On Tuesday 1/27/26 I arrived at Bell Tower Salon Spa before 10 am thinking my appointment was for 1030 am. I was informed by the front desk that my schedule was moved to 12:45 pm that day and a TEXT was sent to me the SAME day as my schedule!! This is unacceptable and unprofessional to change my schedule time 3 times!! I checked my text in front of the clerk and I saw a TEXT was sent to me the same day of my appointment on 1/27/26 at 9:19am from (610) 372-6379 that stated: "Good morning Marie I apologize for the confusion but due to the late confirmation the appointment was not moved and the 1030am spot has been filled. We can move you to James at 12:45pm or Paige at 2:30 pm." This message was texted twice at the same time. 1. I did not ask for and I would not want a male for a massage therapist. That is my choice, the customer's choice! 2. I left my house by 9 am to do errands before my appointment time which was supposed to be by 1030 am. 3. When I spoke with Joanna ( Manager) to explain this, she told me that the system does not allow for the staff to see my response back to Bell Tower. I questioned her response and said, "How do I know what you are telling me is true?" Then I showed her my the texts that I received the messages and I responded back by texting. Joanna kept quiet and I knew she lied. 4. Joanna could not explain why my scheduled time was bumped 3 times when I questioned her. 5. Joanna apologized and stated, "We screwed up." 6. The blonde clerk did offer to have Paige give me a 30 minute massage, but I said that should have been a complimentary massage. The clerk said, that I would have to wait for Paige at 2:30 pm and offered a small discount. This was unacceptable and my time and trip over Bell Tower was wasted. Who authorized this change? My time was jeopardized for the convenience of the staff to "streamline" her schedule?? Is her time more important than the paying customer?? 7. I explained to Joanna that my husband has been a long time customer, buying gift cards for the last 5 years for our family and friends, but this will need to stop! 8. I am disgusted with how management handled this issue. This is poor customer service, poor time management, poor satisfactory and poor leadership. This was not handled well!! 9. I asked for a full refund on my gift card and will not return to this place. This was a first and last time for me here. The customer service here is disgraceful!! read more

I had two fantastic services last week: a facial with Jamie and a message with James, both of which I absolutely loved. They are both very professional and great at what they do. Jamie gave me the BEST scalp massage! (Yes, it messes up your hair, but it is SO worth it when you have a facial). And the rest of the facial was equally lovely. It was very relaxing and my skin feels fantastic. James gave me the BEST foot massage, as well as a total body massage! He is strong but uses just the right amount of pressure. I have had many massages over the years and including the foot is rare. To me it is such a treat! (Kind of like a scalp massage during a facial.) The whole massage was a treat, and I came out of there feeling like a noodle. The Spa itself is very nice. The accommodations are appropriate and the staff overall was great. I live about an hour and 15 away; I picked this spa because I was meeting a friend halfway. I enjoyed myself so much that the hour plus drive won't stop me from returning. read more

My facials and massages here have been wonderful. The massage therapists and estheticians are extremely talented. If you go wearing boots and sweat pants feel free to observe some staff members that work there look your outfit up and down ( judging you) before they know you're their paying client. .Also a bit too pushy with trying to sell products and having you schedule more appointment's. read more

Beautiful salon! Great products! Professional stylists! Overall great experience! I came in for a color/blow out and manicure. I have never done done the powder manicure before so I was a bit nervous but I was reassured and honestly, I may never go back to gel after this. Sabrina was my hair stylist. She was prompt and professional and listened to my preferences and what I hoped to achieve from this appointment. The entire appointment took about 3 hours, but it went by quickly because she interacted with me the whole time and made me feel welcome. I just got a cut done by Carolyn and I am very impressed with her layering skills. I told her what I was looking for and did not have a photo to show. She analyzed my hair texture and gave me exactly what I wanted. She also explained the products very well to me and did not pressure me into purchasing them. Her assistant Audrey was also very helpful and professional. Carolyn is one of the more experienced artists there but is worth the money. I did get a massage about a year ago and loved it. It definitely has that spa feel in terms of the rooms, decor, and process. The only thing I wish they had was a little lounge area to relax and hang out with friends after a massage like the other spas I've been to in the past. The Bell Tower was once in the city in an old mansion with a brick tower, hence the name. It is known as one of the best in town, quite the status symbol if you went there at one time, though Berks has tons of great salons now. Its new location is in what looks like a former carriage house on Penn Avenue and State Hill Road. My spouse goes for his hard-to-manage Russian hair. Laura understands his needs and always gives a great cut. I'd give them a try but am loyal to my own salon. They have the amazingly scented Oribe products, but at $50 each, he doesn't buy often. I almost did once, with a $10 coupon but then was bummed to find the coupon was only for their boutique. So no Bumble curl creme for me. They finally let you tip on a credit card, hurray. Their apothecary has plenty of neat things to keep you sniffing and spritzing if you have to wait, which is rare. There is a coffee bar and cafe in a small building in the parking lot. It can be a bit tricky getting in and out of here, despite the convenient geography. read more

If I am being totally honest I was a little worried walking into a salon all the way across the country to get a trim and a blow out from a salon I had never been to before. I was completely wrong in worrying. This place is fantastic. I can't say enough good things about the about this location. It's clean, the staff is personable, and trendy to boot. Kelly did my cut and blow out. She was fantastic. Not kidding... THE BEST BLOW OUT I HAVE EVER HAD! I have my hair blown out at least once a month here in LA and she put them all to shame. I try not to wash my super curly hair everyday in fear of excessive drying. Literally three days later its still bone straight with incredible volume! She never even touched my hair with a flat iron which I love because I feel like she kept the heat to a minimum! I've already told my friends that live in the area how pleased I was and that they should visit the salon immediately. Whenever I'm in Reading, I stop here to get my hair done by a Level 1 stylist, usually Hayley who is just fantastic. So I decided that I would come here for my wedding, bringing two bridesmaids along. If you're not having a huge princess wedding be prepared to fight with them. I had to explain, multiple times to multiple people, that no I would not being paying for a trial styling because I live four hours away. The receptionists believed that the trial was absolutely required, because it was a wedding, and told me that I had to get permission to skip the trial. The fact that I was told I had to get permission was absurd, but I stuck with it because I knew that I absolutely wanted to get my hair done by Hayley. I left messages, and played phone tag, with the very curt woman who manages the reservations that I seemed to be inconveniencing with my questions. I gave her the names of my bridesmaids (and spelled my friend's last name which was short but unusual) and what they needed, and when I asked for a confirmation email and found that their names were completely butchered, that the services I asked for were wrong - maybe I wasn't being clear enough. I was almost afraid to call back and deal with that woman again, but I was able to fix everything via email. Luckily that's where my bad experience ended. Day of, my manicure and pedicure were the tops and my hair looked AMAZING. I would recommend Bell Tower again, just not for anyone who has a group. Including a bridal party. read more

My visit was booked using a Groupon:1 hr massage, 15 min sauna, 30 min facial and lunch. Massage was 45 min long and massage therapist used very lite pressure never addressing any problem areas. Sauna was not warm and lasted 5 min before the the facialist told me to come out. Facial was 20 min long; steam was used, cleaned, and moisturized. Never used a lite or magnifying glass. Lunch was salad which was fresh. Staff was friendly. If you are impressed with fluff (changing areas with robes and plastic sandals) rather than substance, this is the place for you. I've been an on / off customer since 1979 , and with that said I've seen many changes to the Bell Tower. Back in the day, customer service was paramount and every service was always top notch. The services are still very good however I am very disappointed with the customer service. Let me explain; two times my appointments were cancelled without my knowledge. Two years ago I arrived for my appointment and was told my appointment was cancelled - the girl behind the counter was blasé and offered nothing! Not a " lets reschedule your appointment " or " I'm so sorry, let's look at your information in the computer so it doesn't happen again " NOPE!!! There was nothing offered to rectify the really crappy finish to my day. So, I too a 2 year break. I decided to go back to Bell Tower because I really do like the products they use and the stylists are really good. I made an appointment with a level one stylist ( who is excellent and I could afford ) I've been seeing her for at least three colors and cuts. Today would have been my 4th visit ( or 3rd) visit. SOMETHING told me this morning - CALL AND CONFIRM your appointment-- I didn't do it in the morning. I called in the afternoon and thank God I did because MY appointment was cancelled!!! again the girl on the phone told me WE CALLED YOU. I told her I did not receive a call. I asked - what number did you call? The girl said " well I can tell you we didn't call the number you called us on" I said - that's good because I'm calling you from my work phone I'd expect you to have called me on my cell phone.... The girl told me " I can't tell you what number we used but we did call you." By this time I'm shocked that I'm even having this "pissing match " with a customer service rep who should be taking care of me NOT challenging me. I did not get the call AND THAT IS THAT. I told her that I am very thankful that I did listen to my intuition because had I arrived for my appointment and TURNED away I would have been extremely annoyed. She said " I don't blame you" Here is the thing - had she said to me - Tara how can we make this up to you? Or - Tara how about we give you a free hair treatment the next time you come in for a service.... SOMETHING!!! But what happened was ... she was silent..... I finally said - Can I please rescheduled? I have to admit that I'm happy with my hair (Meaghan did a great job and I don't want to discredit her talent / hard work), but I'm not happy about the customer service that I received after my appointment. I have been a loyal customer to Bell Tower for the last 7/8 years. I even drive from Phoenixville to Reading for your services. I used to go to Laurie when she worked there, then I transitioned to Emily and since Emily left, I saw Meaghan for the first time yesterday. Meaghan is the same level as Emily was (a resident stylist), yet I got charged over $45 more yesterday for the same services that Emily provided to me only 8 weeks ago. There was no communication as to why the sudden increase in price. All I got was balayage, a trim (not even a full haircut) and gloss. Emily did all of those things for around $180 (which I thought was steep, but was willing to pay). All of a sudden yesterday, I got charged $225 something. I was really taken aback by that drastic increase in price. It would have been nice if someone had communicated that there was a price increase prior to me even making the appointment with Meaghan, so that I knew what to expect. Monetary surprises are never fun, unless you're being given the money. I hope that Bell Tower is proactive with communicating price increases to their customers in the future. Honesty is the best policy. I don't like feeling like I've been duped. No one does. The hair looks nice, but not for $225 and definitely not worth it for being treated like a fool with that very sneaky price gauge and no explanation. I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future...especially since I live near the main line. Frankly, I wouldn't even pay those prices on the main line (the most expensive place to live in Pennsylvania)....but at least I won't be driving 40 minutes out of my way to get those kinds of price gauges. read more

I went in here the other day to get my hair colored to a light ginger color. At the end of my appointment, I was basically made a vibrant blonde. Normally I am not one to call and complain, but it was completely different of what I asked for. I ended up calling the salon and telling them that I was not pleased with how light my hair ended up and they agreed to fix it. The hair dresser never admitted to making it too light and then charged me again for her fixing it. And to make it even worse when she made it a shade darker, it turned vibrant orange. Make no mistake- I go to The Bell Tower because it is the single luxury I give myself. It is pricey, but a wise client knows exactly what to schedule and how to buy "in bulk" at times when specials are offered. I do wish they offered more specials aimed toward long term client-needs, however, why do I spend the money? Simply put: this place is on par with the likes of salons in Europe and LA. There is no comparison in even a long-range area. My suggestion is to find out from other clients beforehand who are the best stylists before booking. Yes- level 1 may be better than a level2 or higher. It depends who is there. The facials are also exceptional, with much of the staff having been with the company for 10-20 years or more. They are knowledgeable and courteous. The only issue I have with Bell Tower is that the lobby area is "high pressure." The glamazons behind the customer service desks seem unable to smile and send the welcoming area into a dark frost. There is no joy in the waiting area. The glare at incoming clients and dodge direct questions with one word answers or glazed over looks that are too cliche for reality. No warmth and welcoming, just taking a guest name and staring blankly. Twice this month, I was checked in and then stared at, ...silently,...rather than directed to the seating area. *Knock knock, hello?* (Past this area, with the professional services, the customer experiences completely the opposite- warm, friendly, professional). However, even on check out, the glamour girls at the desk lack the small talk skills and are all about the bill. They seem irritated if asked about anything other than the bill or other appointments. After the massages, facials, and beauty fun...this end to end treatment by the front desk staff is rather like throwing a bucket of cold water on the entire experience. I hope the management pays attention and adds color, warmth, and personality training to the front desk staff. read more

I've been to the Bell Tower many times but lately everything seems to be getting messed up. They booked the wrong amount of time for my massage, booked me for the wrong massage, used the wrong oils and overall have just had poor customer relations. The people who work at the desk are stuck up and try to help you the least amount possible. They never take any responsibility for anything. I complained about not getting my facial that was included in one of the massage specials and they told me they would honor the facial and call me back to schedule a date. When I called questioning about when I was to get my facial (since I paid for it! ) they pretended to have no idea what I was talking about and didn't do anything to correct the issue. Every time I book a special they use the unscented oil (probably because it's cheaper) when I specifically request their special of ginger oil. You have to check about every small detail with the masseuse or you will not get what you paid for. The last massage I had was very fast paced and actually made me more stressed by the end. It was almost as if they were ticked for having to do their job and were trying to do the worst job possible. The girl was nice but did not know how to give a relaxing massage. I felt as though I was man handled. To top it off they used the wrong oil again for their special! When I said something they told me that the oil didn't really have a scent anyway. I've been seeing Pedro for 2 years and he has be wonderful! Unfortunately due to a schedule change I had to switch stylist. For the last 8 months I've been growing my color out (was full red) Pedro has done a impeccable job blending my natural regrowth with my hair. On Monday I seen a new stylist who advice a soap box would be best. I really didn't need to come in again but figured it wouldn't hurt to blend it a little bit more. What a mistake! 3.5 hours later, I ended with glosses, Color and who knows what else. 8 months ruined. I look worse now than I did coming into the salon. The worst part when I called to express my concerns it took multiple calls and emails to finally get a response. It only got worse from there. Chuck (the manager) had no empathy, when I expressed how upset I was that I've spent 8 months working on this for it to be ruined. Also mentioning I fly out for business tomorrow and look ridiculous. He advised I could come in be consulted, wait for a half a hour for another appt and they could possibly fix the bright roots but or course there is no fix to dye that is now on my regrowth. Needless to say I don't have another 4 hours before I fly out to spend in the salon when what should have taken maybe an hour has not cost me so much progress, time and money.
