I visited this pub on 30/03/2026, between approximately 12:18 and 13:18. I was sitting on a stool at the bar and noticed that some people including the bartender were vaping inside the building. I asked the bartender if vaping was allowed. She replied that it was allowed in the pub, but not at the bar.
I then mentioned that, as far as I knew, smoking or vaping is usually prohibited indoors. The bartender responded very loudly and rudely in front of other customers, saying she didn't understand a single word I was saying. I calmly repeated myself, but she again replied in the same loud and rude manner, saying she had already answered my question and that was final.
Later, I asked another question - whether I would be allowed to vape while sitting at a table. After that, she told me she would not be serving me another drink, even though I hadn't asked for one. This all happened simply because I was asking questions.
I then explained that I am autistic and sometimes find communication difficult. She responded by saying that perhaps a pub was not the right place for me.
After I finished my drink, I asked, "I've finished my drink, do I have to leave now?" She replied, "Yes, you have to leave - come back another day."
I was simply trying to make sure that I would not break any rules by asking these questions, and I did not vape inside the building at any point during my visit.
I found this whole interaction very upsetting. Being spoken to loudly and rudely in front of others, and then asked to leave just for asking questions and after explaining my condition, felt humiliating. I consider this to be clear discrimination based on my disability and nationality. read more
