My absolute favorite pub in London. When we are in town we make sure to stay in the Hyde Park area so we can end our nights here. Grab a seat, head to bar to order and sit back for a fun night until closing. Weekends you will be treated to love music and if Oasis, Robbie Williams or Cranberries then be prepared to sing out loud and proud. The bartenders and staff are super friendly. The regulars are fun and friendly. They also have games you can play at your table. Super clean restrooms in the back. You can also eat upstairs (or the bar area). Sometimes they have had chef specials-two years ago was a vegan dish that was mouthwatering. Even if you do not drink stop by to enjoy a fun night and have a pot of tea. Until next time read more

We stayed about 8 minutes walking from this pub. I actually passed it many times before I visited. Thought it might be too touristy. I was wrong! Lots of locals. Fabulous that they have live music every night. We ended up going 3 times. Ate there 2 of the times. Fish and chips decent. Burgers delicious as well as the chips! We had to order food at bar area and they would bring the food to the table. Extremely busy most nights. My son who has food allergies wanted to eat there. They were amazing! The GM, Will was super friendly, answered all my concerns and put my mind at ease that it would be ok to eat there. They had an allergy menu we could look at. The manager was so friendly and was working really hard to bus the tables. I talked to him before we left to tell him how much we appreciated everything. I would definitely go back more! We visited on 24th September to celebrate my wife's birthday, along with our daughter. Unfortunately, the evening was completely ruined due to the rude and unprofessional behaviour of the manager/barman. There were no waiters, so we had to go to the bar to place our orders. We weren't the only ones frustrated -- several other customers left without ordering after waiting too long. Here's the timeline of our orders: 20:40 - Ordered food and drinks 20:44 - Ordered chips 20:54 - Ordered another drink The food finally arrived at 21:25, and at that moment, we were told we had to eat quickly and leave, and that we couldn't order any more drinks because we had a child with us. This was never mentioned before we ordered. As a result, we paid for the food without eating and left, completely disappointed. To make things worse, the manager was incredibly rude - he constantly interrupted when we tried to speak and even walked away mid-conversation, refusing to listen or show any willingness to resolve the issue. What was supposed to be a special night for my wife's birthday turned into a very upsetting experience. Absolutely not recommended. read more

Yummy & Clean! I'm always a little wary of pubs, but this spot was great. We stopped in during the week for lunch and ordered at the bar. The staff was helpful, the atmosphere and music were perfect. We ordered the Steak & Ale pie which was delicious. The bathrooms are clean and modern and I'd highly suggest this little spot. Maybe next time I'll come in the evening and try their roof-top patio. read more

First night I ordered the cottage pie and it was so good I went back for more but sadly they ran out the second night so I ordered the bangers and mash which didn't disappoint either. This is the pub that was the closest to my place of residence in London so naturally this place has a special meaning to me. It was also the last pub I visited on my last night in London before moving back to San Francisco. Anyway, what you'll get here is a normal pub with normal staff and the drinks are the same wherever you get them. However, the difference here is that the feel is so much more relaxed. More places to sit so more people are sitting down as opposed to the crammed pub with everyone standing. I especially like the back room where it tends to be quieter and you can really have a conversation with your buddies over a couple of pints. read more

Right on Queensway road rests the Prince Alfred with high ceilings, airy space and dark wooden flooring. They have also recently opened up their rooftop garden with outdoor heating. It is a chilled out place to come enjoy a drink or a meal. Food is sufficient and comes with decent prices. They serve the usual pub grub, but it's not bad. Generally great, great food, friendly staff Unless you try to get amixef drink, which you may have gotten on a Monday, and suddenly they can make neither a bloody Mary nor a vodka & soda. Unless they thought my 30 year old gf was under 18 and week playing dumb (multiple bartenders), mixed drink making here is a certain level of total incompetence. Managing bartenders fixed it, don't take "we don't have it" here for an answer. read more

Great music. Great food. I had the Prince Alfred burger, double patty, delicious. My wife had the nachos, just ok, but what can ya do, you ordered nachos in London. I had a beer from Brixton Brewery located in London. They had live music that night which was great we stayed until 10, they close at 1030. Good times. read more

Nice atmosphere in this pub. A real fireplace was a nice touch. Drinks are on the pricier side. Expect 2 drinks to cost over £10. Good if you're in the area, as this is the only pub on Queensway high street. Decided to eat dinner here after walking down bay water. The atmosphere of this place seemed pretty upbeat from the outside. Half the tables on the patio were full from people grabbing drinks after work. My husband and I decided to eat inside since it was starting to get chilly. We have to seat ourselves and found a quiet table for 2 in the back room. The menu was small but acceptable for a pub. Also, all orders you must order and pay at the bar and they will bring the ordered food to your table. There is no other service besides the time they bring you the food. They do not seat you nor bring you any water or take orders from the table. We ordered a cottage pie (£8.50), a deli platter (£9.50) and a mango orange drink. The cottage pie was very bland for me, so I was glad they have salt and pepper on the tables. The deli platter was very disappointing. It had 2 small loaves of breAd with 6 dips - peppers, feta cheese, humus, olive oil, olives, sour cream. I was hoping for a platter with some cold cuts given the price. During the time there (around 630-730) we did not see anyone order any food, but mostly beers and drinks. I probably would not go again. read more

Nice little pub in Bayswater on Queensway, not too far from the tubes. Decent food that you can find in most pubs and the drinks are priced ok too. Everyone is always very friendly here and the place is really clean. Free wifi for the customers as well, which is a nice plus :) read more

Someone had told me that this place had the "Best" steak sandwich in town, so of course I had to head on over to check it out. After I walked in, I was told that No hats were aloud in the pub, which I thought was odd, since it was lunch time and raining. Any way, I grabbed pint (not a very big selection to choose from) and ordered the steak sandwich, excited for what I was about to eat. When the dish was served, I thought that it was quite small. I started with the fries/chips which were cold and not crispy at all. So I moved on to the sandwich, which looked promising looking at the meat on it. Sadly I must say it was very disappointing. The steak was quite fatty and some bites I was barely able to chew due to the amount of fat on them. It was a sad lunch and I probably won't be going back there anytime soon. read more

We stayed in Kensington Garden when visiting London last month. This pub was recommended by the front desk. We came in for dinner and split fish & chips and a chicken sandwich. The food was decent but not memorable. The fish was like more of a fish stick, which I didn't like. I would not come back to eat, but it has a nice ambiance and would be a nice place to grab a pint. We were suppose to order at the bar but when we asked about it, a server said she would wait on us. She was Italian but spoke decent English. She was very helpful! They also have weird casino-like slot machines. It constantly blinks and flashes lights so it seems really fun... However, I quickly spent 5 pounds on it without really understanding how to play it. read more

Almost no beer in here to excite a beer geek. You can find something like Courage Best or Fuller's London Pride but that's about it. This place is an attractive venue and they seem to do nice food, but there are better options in the area for both drink and eats. Frequented mostly by tourists, I think. We called in early in the week but no food there were road works happening and they had no power to cook meals. Walking past today and notice a food sign out the front. I had The chicken sandwich and let me tell you I was not disappointed. It was delicious and it even had jalapeños. The price was reasonable for London standards. The food (I had a venison pie) is OK, if unspectacular. However, the pricing of soft drinks - I was charged £4.40 for a pint of Diet Coke - is utterly ludicrous. I'm a native Londoner so very conscious of the premium price most pubs charge, but this level is so eye-watering I asked the manager to come & try to justify it. He replied that this is the same price as other local pubs - which I find hard to believe since I live a mile away in a similarly-expensive part of London. Paid for food, had it delivered to other people by mistake, eaten by them, and left abused by the manager. Was partially my mistake as a i forgot the number on a table next door, but usually customer satisfaction is more important than 100g of squid. And here it was also accompanied by the manager shouting at me, shaking from anxiety and hatred to me. Still in shock, never had such horrible service in my life. AVOID at all cost. read more

Great place to have a few drinks, nice fire downstairs. Nice and spacious upstairs with a bunch of comfy chairs and couches, plus there's a bar in the upstairs area and an outside smoking area. All around a good place to grab a few drinks. Didn't have any of the food, but everything that went by looked really tasty. Staff were friendly and let us stay a bit later than last call. Crowded, but not too packed. Good mix of people. Definitely better than your average pub. read more

The pub is meh - overpriced as most Central London pubs but what is absolutely appaling is the bad service! Upon arriving in the pub - I was shouted at to take my hat off as no hats were allowed! Wow - what a welcome - not. I only stayed because friends had organised a work leaving party there but I really do NOT recommend this pub - you know what - I would pay double the prices anywhere else before I go back there.
