I've been wanting to try Lona for a while and finally made it in for lunch today, and I wasn't…read moredisappointed. Lona is a huge lateness restaurant and juice bar on Gloucester Road. I'd say that it's probably one of the biggest restaurants in Bristol! From the outside it looks like something you'd sea on a beach front, with it's big terrace area and large sign. Step inside and you're greeted by a huge open kitchen and a circular juice bar in the middle of the room. The ceiling is covered by red drapes and set a really nice colorful tone for the restaurant and sets it apart from any other restaurant decor I've seen in Bristol. Then, all around the juice bar is lots of tables from 4-10 seaters. They have 2 menu's, one for food and another for juices. I was here for lunch and it was a shame that they didn't offer a cheaper lunch menu. The mains were all between £9-16, which was a little steep, especially when you add a £3.50 smoothy into the mix. So I opted for a Chicken Wrap which I was surprised when it came with chips. The chicken was devious, really nicely seasoned and spiced and really juicy. Unfortunately for me the salad in the wrap had cucumber in it, which I really don't like - but I still ate the lot! This is definitely one of those restaurant that you'll want to keep going back to try everything on the menu. It would be great as a large group so that you could share lots of stuff on the menu. I already can't wait to go back!

I think most of their meat is supplied from Pipers Farm, where the animals are treated incredibly well, they are mostly grass-fed and the meat tastes incredible. I was there during the week on lunchtime with friends, it's got this really lovely laid back cosy style, and was super friendly. I like the fact they have a massive blackboard wall, with lots of menu choices, from tapas to light bites, and have specials too. We headed to the back of the building which almost feels conservatory like. The whole menu looked mouthwatering, I opted for the Home Smoked Trout with cream cheese, scrambled egg and radish salad. All of the flavours really complemented each other, and the scrammed egg was the lightest and fluffiest I've ever tasted. It was an ample portion, and really set me up for the rest of the day. The other thing I should mention is price, you get high quality for a great price. My brunch was priced at £6.90. The perfect price for a lunch deal in my opinion. I shall most certainly be back, and would highly recommend this place.

I love the decor- very mythical fishermen with posters for movies and wanted signs. They have an extensive menu, including alcohol and their cider comes in 500ml bottles. I've been told it's quite expensive in local standards but for the atmosphere it's worth it. I'd like to give a shoutout to one of the chefs. We had shown up here and the hostess had said they were not taking any one without a reservation. But there were open tables. Disappointed, we walked out. Standing in front of the restaurant, trying to figure out what to do, the cook comes out and says they will make room for us. Absolutely the sweetest. We were so stoked to eat at this place again. He even brought out tasty food out to us himself!

The food is great! Cafe Ronak has fantastic curb appeal. Situated on the most buzzing part of Gloucester Road, it's got some stiff competition - but it really stands out! It has a really cool wooden sign and outside seating area that make it really stand out. Inside has a really nice atmosphere and casual decor - with lots more wood. You'd be forgiven for missing it, but a few steps passed the counter and there's a realy nice garden/terrace area out the back. It's nicely covered for it if rains but seems to also be a nice little sun trap. I actually only went in for a latte and to work for a couple of hours, but saw the menu and had to have something. So I went for the Croque Madame. It was different to any other I've had, but it was great. Instead of being like a sandwich, it was 2 slices of sour dough bread resting partly on top of each other. The sauce that the ham had been coated with was really good and although the cheese wasn't the best, it did top it all off well. The latte was also superb. One of those that you just wanted to drink it in all in one go. I'm making myself want one just thinking about it. I'm really glad I finally went into Cafe Ronak and will definitely be going back again soon.

All the food looked delicious actually so I'll be going back to try some more of what they have to offer. The staff were very helpful and friendly and it was obvious they knew their stuff. They asked what level roast of coffee she wanted and recommended a lovely herbal tea to me. Anyone is welcome; there were people in there working on their laptops and Mums with their children. The garden at the back is the icing on the cake. It doesn't feel like you're on Gloucester Road at all. Overall, it's a no frills cafe that just got it right.

As you arrive here you drive up to a car park and then walk through the walled gardens following the signs to the cafe, as you walk through the gardens you can see an abundance of wonderful plants and vegetables, its such fun trying to identify what is what, on this particular day we didn't linger too long cause it was raining. The ethos is that they make their food using ingredients that they grow themselves in the garden, for all other ingrediants, meat, dairy etc they use good local suppliers. We had booked a table which was a good job because it looked pretty full, I was pleased to see that they had the best highchairs you can get (the cheap ikea white ones), my little girl has one of these at home so I'm always pleased when a place has them (most paces do cause they are so brilliant). The menu was very interesting and had lots of very unusual things such as sweetbreads, lacto-fermented eggs and massicated strawberry salad, we of course went for the more unusual things and I must say we weren't disappointed, all of the food was amazing, I had massicated strawberry salad to start which was sharp and tangy and delicious, then I had confit duck leg as the main course which was also delicious but a little on the dry side and a sticy toffe apple pudding for desert which was moist and very tasty. Unusually we didnt go for wine but instead we went for cider, it was Crossmans cider which they sell at Crossmans farm in Hewish, we love this cider and pop into the farm to buy it whenever we are heading down south so we were really excited to see it for sale in a restaurant. Our designated driver had hop cordial which was actually really quite horrible tasting but is probably an acquired taste, I assume that they make it there. After the meal the rain had stopped and we really got to appreciate the beautiful gardens by having a lovely walk around. In a nutshell The Ethicurean is not the cheapest lunch you will get with starters at about £8 and main courses at between £17 and £22 but the quality, care, thought and effort that has obviously gone into every dish makes it worth it.
