Wanted my hair done for wedding. I had a hard time finding a place there are just so many places with mixed reviews and I didn't want to pay $100. It's a little hard to make an appointment from their website so I finally just called and made one. I didn't know that for wedding hair they do a trial run before hand to figure out what you want. The lady on the phone didn't ask many questions so I just made an appointment for a formal event which is $65. I was hoping they had hair pieces but they don't. I came here to get my hair done for prom 10 years ago and they had different Barrett's and things you could buy, not anymore. Made an appointment for 10:00. I was there before either of the stylists and they walked in at 10:05. I had Cassie. She usually does formal up dos and she is very fast she told me in the beginning. It probly took her 20 minutes to curl and put my hair up. I brought in pictures to help tell her what I wanted. She was nice, fast and did it how I wanted. Some little fixes were needed after loose ends falling out but the whole do has stayed in overall. I feel $65 was pricey for 20 minutes of work but everyone in town Was there or higher read more

Finally a salon where the beautician takes the time to really look at one's face and hair before cutting. Chris was open to suggestions from his coworker too. Between them, the end result was everything I'd hoped for. I went in with a boring bob and came out with an adorable pixie. I swear it took ten years off me. Cassie was WAY too much. Was TOO fast at getting me ready on time for my special event. Was TOO friendly and accommodating to all my needs. TOO open to any changes that I wanted to give me the perfect look. Had TOO many great recommendations for the area since I am from out of town. Was TOO talented at both hair AND makeup. 100000% do not recommend this salon. I've been a blonde for years, and get full highlights touched up every few weeks. My stylist in Florida was amazing and moving up here I was hoping I could someone just as great.... I'd rather put box color on my hair, then go back to TBR. Lexi did my hair ($220 - including $50 tip), and absolutely fried it. I did not get a chance to see it in the salon because she was trying to get ready to go out that night, so she rushed me out some random back door into the alley of the building. When I got home and looked through my hair, there were bleach spots everywhere, and pieces of my hair that had broken off. I called the salon every day for a week before a manager actually took my call (lexi refused to call me back), and she couldn't get Lexi to fix it either so had another newer girl try to fix what she messed up. She was kind, but barely did anything that could help. I've now spent months trying to repair that damage with deep treatments and finally going to a better stylist. There are way better stylist in anchorage that can color your hair with the same price tag, but now I understand why she charges so little. If you like having hair, avoid this place, or at least Lexi at all costs. read more

She hears me out on my needs (easy to style, short morning routine) and creates a haircut that is both super cute and functional and easy for me to maintain. It took me a long time to find a hair salon in Anchorage, but this is definitely my go-to now. I found Brenna on Instagram and immediately fell in love with her work. I came in not knowing how to explain the look I wanted . She quickly guided me and offered suggestions on what would look best on me. She even took the time to give me tips and tricks on how to maintain my hair healthy and gave me a sample of a hair product she uses. She's awesome at what she does and my hair looks amazing! I searched the internet frantically while stationed in Germany for a makeup artist and hairstylist around Anchorage, Alaska for my big wedding day! I read so many reviews on so many different places. I finally found the beauty room and saw some of the ladies work via Instagram. I saw makeup completed by Vianey and I instantly fell in love with her makeup skills! I called the Beauty Room and asked for Vianey specifically and then a hairstylist to come to my location in Girdwood Alaska to complete my look for my wedding day!! I met up with Vianey prior to make sure that my makeup would be perfect about 2 weeks prior. I was mind blown. She did such an amazing job and LITERALLY gave me exactly what I wanted. She also used fake lashes and they looked phenomenal! I was ready for my big day and never felt more ready and pretty! She came to my location the day of and did the exact same look! She was so down to earth as well! I highly recommend the Beauty Room and Vianey specifically if you're wanting gorgeous hair and makeup for your special day! I can't remember the name of the sweet girl who did my updo for my wedding, but she was also sent from the Beauty Room. I LOVED IT. I couldn't be more happier. Highly recommend! I'm totally screwed. Seriously. I live in Los Angeles, people. The city of people with beautiful hair. Try yelping beauty salons in southern California and I guarantee you will be amazed at the thousands of women (and men) devoted to finding the perfect cut and color. I'm right there with them. I never, EVER thought I would find someone to give me a good haircut, because I had never, EVER had a good haircut. In my LIFE. (thanks religious parents who used a bowl to cut my hair till age 12) I've tried the exorbiant prices and flamboyant stylists all over LA, and I've always left really disappointed. I have ugly hair, what can I say? That's why I'm totally screwed. After all this time, and all this work, I found the goddess of hair, and her salon is in freaking ALASKA. After working up in Anchorage for three months this summer, I had pretty much started wearing entire outfits made of flannel and not even bothering to put on make up in the morning. My fellow Californian coworkers, however, were trying to maintain their LA blonde and baked look by trying out every salon in the city. (Trust me, it's good we were only there 3 months, because they were running out of places to try) It's by chance that one of them found Debbie at Beauty Room in our last two weeks up there. Hell, I thought, I always really wanted to dye my hair, and it's my last week in Alaska, and my life can't really get much worse. I should just tell someone to make me pretty and see what happens. I can't believe it TOTALLY WORKED. Holy crap, I have the most amazing haircut and the most gorgeous color. Debbie steered me away from red, which is what I wanted, and at first I was sad. It doesn't matter now, because I've gotten so many compliments on the blonde highlights (and red lowlights, we had a compromise) that I don't know how to thank her. I simply told her that I wanted a change and had always wanted bangs. Let's not forget that I am useless with a hairdryer and I have a cowlick that makes my hair go in all sorts of weird directions. 2 hours and lots of foil later, I was a new person. I would never have believed I could pull this haircut off, but I am, and over a week later, I'm still getting people commenting on how good it looks. AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY USE A ROUND BRUSH! My MALE coworkers have commented on my hair cut! I am in awe and also seriously depressed. I've been going to Josh for about several years now and he does not disappoint! He has a fantastic sense of what will and won't look good on you and he'll be honest about it (which is what I need in my life tbh). Josh is also extremely professional and you can tell he is well trained and definitely has experience on his belt. I've had a contentious history finding the right hairstylist when moving city to city so when I was referred to Josh and had my first haircut I had a huge sigh of relief. I look and feel amazing every time my haircut is finished. Unfortunately, I can't speak on The Beauty Room's other hairstylist since I've only been going to Josh, but Josh definitely gets 5 stars from me! read more

I'm conflicted as to how I should write this review. On one hand, they did a fabulous job on my hair and make-up, but they screwed up in so many areas, I can't justify rating them very high. Let me dissect this for you a little bit at a time. We went the Friday before the wedding to get manis and pedis for four girls. My youngest sister had to leave early to get her eyelash extensions put on (not worth it in my opinion), so they started her with her mani. Two of us sad in the pedi section while the last sat out. We then rotated. And then again. And yet somehow (with only two people working for four people, it isn't a surprise), they didn't finish on time and we had to leave for the rehearsal dinner. We came hours and hours ahead of the dinner, but we were definitely not finished in time. I got a very poorly done pedicure and no manicure--and I'm the bride! I was assured that they would do it the next day while I was getting my hair done. No biggie. Well, we show up the next day for hair. My hair is perfect. Exactly what I wanted and so beautiful that I didn't need any accessories to add to the beauty. Of course, a girl can't resist a tiny tiara and the veil on her big day, right? Right. And for the rest of the party. . .well, my bridesmaids looks fine, but they butchered my mother and my grandmother. My mom was on the verge of tears as she left the salon. She went straight home and had my sister re-do everything. She was so stressed out and frustrated that she couldn't even speak. Then came my grandmother. All she wanted was her hair pulled back in a bun. That was it. They couldn't do it. It was short, but not that short--I'd seen her with her hair in a bun all week long so I knew it was possible. Luckily, my grandma is very laid back (plus, she doesn't speak a word of English, so who was she going to complain to?!) and my sister also fixed her hair. My make-up was fine. I touched it up and added a little bit more "me" and the girl agreed that it looked much better after I'd finished. I never got my manicure. I think this place would've been fine if we were a smaller group, but they weren't prepared to help us all. Also, I think half the reason they had so much problem with my mom and grandma was because they have Asian hair (if you're Asian, you know what I mean) and it can be hard to work with. Luckily, the rest of us were halfies, so our hair is pretty easy to work with (or so I'm told). All in all, I'm not sure I'd recommend this place to anyone with more than just one or two people getting ready there. They were friendly and nice, but the particular girl working on my mom's hair could care less that she would unhappy. It actually was my hairdresser that tried to work on my mom's hair because she could see how disappointed she was. I'm sure there are better places to go to in Anchorage. There has to be. Right? I've been going to Debbie for almost a year now for cut/color/highlights and am so thrilled to have found her. She listens, and makes an effort to know me and my personal style, and always has great ideas for me. We're at the point now where I just put my total trust in her, and I am always rewarded with a result that is better than I could have dreamed up myself. That right there is priceless, but surprisingly, the rates are incredibly fair for the quality of work. Every time I leave her chair, I always feel so pretty. I never look quite as good as after I walk out of the salon, I ALWAYS get compliments on that day, always. I had been going there for 14 years, last time I went I explained how tired I was and how much of a struggle my life had been and it was taking s lot out of me. While processing I relaxed and closed my eyes, then I spent a good amount of money on products and getting my hair done yet they told me to find a different salon because I was closing my eyes in the salon. They also called people I knew and told them how much I had spent and embellished upon me resting my eyes. Totally unprofessional! They charged me twice for one product and a product I never even purchased. I had always been singing their praises but after that I will never return and suggest to those considering this salon to find a less snobby place that knows not to overstep their boundaries and show some compassion. read more

Debbie and Sasha couldn't have done a better job determining what my hair needed and executing it! I'm so happy with how my hair turned out. I LOVE this place! Like so many others, I spent years jumping from salon to salon without being satisfied. I have Asian hair that's difficult to color, and well, I'm also very particular. I found The Beauty Room almost seven years ago and I've been a loyal customer since that time. Debbie is, hands down, the best colorist in Anchorage. She gives me rich highlights without the brassiness. Her cuts are modern and she has good instincts about which styles look good with which face shapes. I trust her completely! Each time I leave the shop I feel beautiful and pampered and I get compliments nearly every day, which I always refer back to The Beauty Room. The staff is friendly and warm, the shop is clean and hip and the prices are reasonable. I'm also thrilled they carry my favorite makeup (Bare Minerals) so I can pick that up when I visit. read more

I got a perm last week which cost me an arm and a leg. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for great service. My perm is flat and I have to do everything I can to get my curl to have a little bounce. My hair is past my shoulder blades and I asked more than once if she should use a second bottle on my hair, she said no both times. I've gone to the Beauty Room for several years, but this last time has ended my time there. Truly disappointed with my perm and my haircut. Time to find someone new. read more

Do NOT go to Mary Alice at the Beauty Room. I asked her to cut bangs and long layers - pretty simple - and she managed to completely butcher it. The bangs are jagged and uneven, the hair is longer on one side than the other, and I look like an idiot except with all my hair tied and pinned back. $45 for that garbage! Then I asked her for a simple eyebrow wax, especially to clean up the top edge of my eyebrows, and to maintain their natural shape. She reshaped the outside edges and didn't do anything to the tops of my eyebrows as I'd asked. Bottom line: Mary Alice does not listen and does not produce acceptable results. I'm very angry that I had to pay $60 altogether for a service that was not even remotely what I wanted, and will be going back to my previous stylist to fix this monstrosity as soon as possible. When I make an appointment, I make sure to be there on time or early so that I don't waste the other person's time. I was a few minutes early for my haircut appointment with McKayla. The desk staff greeted me politely, pointed out items on sale, and showed me the waiting area. Twenty minutes after my appointment was to start, McKayla finished with her previous client and came over and asked me if I was ready. I told her curtly that I had been ready for a while. Seriously, a little "I'm sorry that went a little long, are you ready?" would have gone a long way. The haircut was ok. She didn't butcher it, but I couldn't style it the way I normally do. *** It was my FIRST time going to The Beauty Room, my coworker had recommended it and since I haven't trusted anyone with my hair in years, I was EXCITED. I made my appointment for a cut and color (mind you, my hair is VERY dead and i wanted a noticable red color in my hair). I came in and I had a great gal who was very inviting and talkative, and made me feel like I was in good hands. I showed her pictures of what i wanted, and kept showing her the dead parts of my hair. After 3 hours of doing a "color correction" on my hair, with no cut at all, I left with wet hair, no hair cut at all ( she told me to come back another day and would take 50% off of the hair cut that i expected that same day) and 2 days later my hair looks the same. There is only red on the roots, the ends of my hair are black still, and I feel cheated for paying 200 for a color that I could have paid 10 dollars at Fred Meyer for the same color. They would not refund money, or correct it for me unless I paid for 3 more sessions to get it to the color i wanted. I guess the customer's satisfaction does not worry them all that much. **** read more

I cut my hair at home for Locks of Love and went in to have it evened out on a Saturday afternoon. It had been years since Id been to a salon and going from long to short hair, I wanted to make sure it looked good. Walking in, everyone was really nice and the place was very inviting. I wanted a subtle A-line cut. No more than an inch difference between the front and back and overall not go too short. I noticed the hair dresser paying more attention/cutting on one side ,but figured she knew what she was doing. I didn't notice until I got home that one side was pretty much a straight cut and the other side was the subtle A-line I wanted. I called right away but the stylist had already left for the day and the salon was about to close. The receptionist said she could put me on the wait list for Monday afternoon, but couldn't guarantee me in until Tuesday....(to her credit she was sympathetic, made some calls to see what she could do) I was irritated that I wouldn't be squeezed in since it was due to the hairdresser, but what could I do. I had to face the world with this cut and tried pinning it up so it wouldn't be so obvious, but going from long to short, everyone noticed. No one canceled Monday so on Tuesday I walked in and saw a different hairdresser. (Phew! At least I didn't have to deal with the awkwardness of seeing the first hairdresser again.) She fixed me up in 2 minutes flat and cleaned up the back a little better. Since the one side was already cut like a bob and not wanting to go shorter, I had to have the other side evened out that way... I ended up with a bob.... Not what I wanted. : ( Overall everyone was really nice but If I knew I was going to walk out with a crooked cut and not get the cut I wanted, I would've just gone to Great Clips and saved $40, embarrassment, disappointment and time. Not sure if Ill go back. If I do, I know who not to see. read more

Went in for a cut and color....I have long hair and am always scared about someone cutting too much....Donna was my stylist....she did a great job! Great cut however I wanted red hombre and I even brought a picture to show exactly what I wanted...I like it at first but after a few days it looked orange so I had to go back they fixed it but that will keep me from going again. read more
