Let me start this review by saying that there truly may not be enough words with enough power to describe this magical man and his talent. Rio is without a doubt the kindest, most loving, artist we have ever had the pleasure of meeting and then when you taste his craft...you can die happy! My husband and I had the honor of having Rio create, and execute our once in a lifetime wedding menu. From the start, Rio's first concern was us (my husband and I) where we were from, what we like, who we were as individuals and as a couple. And he created the most beautiful menu with us as the inspiration. Completely custom. Rio did our Rehearsal dinner, wedding and brunch the following morning, ALL farm-to-table!. I have attached pictures of all of our menus as well as photos from the wedding for all or you review. Not only did all of our friends and family leave our wedding saying that "it was not only the best wedding food that they had ever had, but some of the best food of their LIVES." My brother in-law refuses to eat a short-rib ever again because it will never TOUCH Rio's. I truly could go on and on about the food, its beauty and all of the love and care that goes into it, but it has a lot to do with the individual(s) behind it! Rio and his team are kind, compassionate, FUN, filled with class, love, an eye for beauty, and a mind for a good time! When you work with Rio you are truly working with someone who ACTUALLY gives a damn! He was so instrumental and so helpful through the whole wedding process, even sending me photos of tables that some of his past brides had done, sharing his thoughts and ideas as to how to make our wedding unique. We love him so much! He even made sure to come and dance with me! I am for certain that this review is most likely all over the place and my excuse is that Rio, his team, his talent and everything about him is so fantastic, so memorable, SO DELECIOUS, it is nearly impossible to explain and should just be experienced! Rio catered my wedding on New Year's Day of 2011 and his personal touches made our small, intimate wedding all the more perfect. My wife is a chef, with pretty significant dietary restrictions, but Rio made it so easy to confidently hand the reins over to him. We had an incredible family style meal with vegan and carnivorous options for our 30 closest friends and family. The food was fantastic, the service was seamless, and Rio made the entire process completely painless. Let me first start by saying that Rio is the kind of person who feels more like a friend than a vendor right off the bat. He was so kind, courteous, professional, and witty from day one that we just felt so comfortable. Especially since we didn't give him the easiest task...a full vegetarian wedding! Rio hosted a tasting for my husband, myself, and my husband's parents and they were BLOWN AWAY (having previously been very nervous about a full veg wedding). Every single thing that Rio creates is a piece of art that almost looks too beautiful to eat. The number of people who Instagrammed the salad at our reception....I lost count! After the first tasting, Rio worked tireslessly with us, coming up with such intricate and creative ideas for three different entrees and a slew of appetizers that people are still talking about today....quinoa, currant, and pistachio stuffed mushrooms, pumpkin and brown sugar raviolis, spicy black bean sliders with carmelized onions....every dish was like something out of a magazine. Rio's team of servers were fantastic as well, serving everyone in such a timely and professional manner, and just being all-around fun to talk to! Bottom line: If you love food that is prepared using the freshest, seasonal, and local ingredients.... served by the kindest most wonderful people....led by the most creative and all around fantastic chef, Rio is your guy! read more

My wife and I hired Rio to cater our wedding rehearsal dinner in July and he did a fantastic job! Rio was incredibly easy to work with and prepared a menu that perfectly suited the needs and preferences of our guests. The food was delicious and all of our guests couldn't stop talking about how the caterer had expertly chosen foods that appealed to a diverse party. The menu also worked well with the location of our dinner - we were in an old, historic space with a limited kitchen so Rio prepared foods that were easy to serve, and the result was a beautiful (and delicious) display. We felt very lucky to have made such a good decision, as choosing a caterer for a 50+ person party can be difficult. We would absolutely hire Rio again if the opportunity arose - highly recommended! read more

Rio is the BEST. Unconditionally, categorically and without argument the best. We could tell this from day one when arranging the tasting. I always assumed that the tasting meetings were to see what food we did or didn't like and make selections accordingly. However, with Rio everything was absolutely exquisite, and instead what we left with was 100% trust to give him complete creative license to put together our menu. For months and months before the wedding, when asked if we were excited about getting married, my husband and I would respond with "Absolutely - the food is going to be amazing". Rio is an artist and what he does is nothing short of culinary magic. The attention to detail that goes into each dish, from the overall meal to the plating to the subtle combination of flavors, even the wine pairing; he puts his spirit and love into everything he does and it shows. My husband, friends, family and I are all pretty big foodies and we are STILL getting told daily how incredible, beautiful, and unique each and every morsel was. The cornish game hen with apple and brussel stuffing I could not devour fast enough. The beautiful beet and goat cheese salad, the pan seared wild sockeye salmon in a blueberry dijon glaze, the filo wrapped asparagus spears with parmesan peppercorn sauce were all out of this world. He also prepared the dinner for the rehearsal, which was equally incredible, and included things like a lobster bechemel mac and cheese. I could go on and on...but its just making me hungry! Of equal if not more importance, he is one of the most genuine, delightful and awesome people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Rio immediately felt like a close,dear friend and has such a warmth, contagious positivity, and humor. Truly, everything he does he does so with love, and getting to know him was such an honor, a pleasure, and a blast! Again - the BEST. The food is fresh, organic, and artfully presented. The meals are nothing short of culinary masterpieces, and I have yet to see their equal. But most of all, Rio cares so sincerely and makes sure to not only create exactly what meals you were hoping for but exceed your expectations tenfold. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! read more

Rio's team catered our wedding this past August and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! To start with the tasting they so graciously hosted for us was presented with such beauty and care as if was a special event in and of itself, with flowers, wine and AMAZING food! Rio listened to all of our requests and dietary needs, creating a unique menu that was friendly to vegans, vegetarians and meat lovers alike. He and his team were so nice and easy to work with, taking care of everything without any added work on our end. The food on the day of the wedding was PHENOMENAL! Our guests are still raving about it! The presentation of everything from the passed appetizers, to plated sides and butlered entrees was flawless. Rio is incredible! He catered our rehearsal dinner and wedding last summer and we couldn't have been happier! We scheduled our tasting with Rio and knew immediately this is who we wanted for our wedding. His philosophy on food, creativity and love for what he does shines through with everything he delivers. He sources local, in season food, which stands out. A number of items on our menu we had asked for 'whatever looks best at the farmers market this week'! And we ended up with delicious, fresh, locally sourced food. Rio is fantastic! He catered our daughter's outdoor wedding this summer and he met and went beyond all our expectations in every way. First off, he is a wonderful person and never lost his cool or his kindness, even when a thunderstorm forced his team to move all the set up tables under a tent at the very last minute.Throughout the months of planning and the day of the event, he was always highly professional and attentive to all the important details and responded quickly and respectfully to all our many questions and wishes. And then there was the food which all agreed was exceptional. Guests said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. We have been described by many friends as foodies...the quality of the food was extremely important to us and we could not have been happier.
