We had a great time there during the whiskey and wine walk. I'll definitely come back. It seems like a really fun place to be.

Harbor Bar and Grill - 16oz prime rib with German American potatoes

Came to N Dakota to visit some friends at their lake house on Audubon lake. One night, they decided…read moreto take us here for steak night and to experience some of the local ambience, and we were so happy they did!!! Talk about a quintessential mom and pop bar that serves great, non-pretentious food. There were three choices of steak, and a few potato side dishes to choose from. No frills, all thrills. The steak was labeled as 12 ounces, but I'm not sure what their benchmark was. It was a heaping side of cow, easily 20-24 ounces. They treated the meat well, like royalty, and did their damnedest to NOT screw up quality ingredients. I ordered my steak medium rare, and exactly like so, it appeared before me like a magicians trick. A beautiful, meaty, delicious magicians trick. LoL. There was a fantastic hard sear on the outside, and inside, a gorgeous pink medium rare that just melted in your mouth. The owner was in the kitchen visible from our table, and didn't break a sweat cranking out plate after plate of tasty cow. I'd put this steak up against the best steakhouses I've been to around the world. Who knew you could get this at a joint like Harbor Bar and Grill, for a mere $25? We'll be visiting our friends again, and when we do, we will get our cow on at Harbor B&G.

( I am in my 50's, to give some perspective) Solid & hearty food: meaty shrimp, yummy made to perfection baked potato, tender steak... Reasonably priced. Fabulous & friendly service. I highly recommend. 5 out of 5 for me !

We were advised at 639pm that they were sold out of both the tenderloin & ravioli. That had a bait & switch feel to it, as I find it hard to believe that they sold out of tenderloin, a main meat dish, the BIG DRAW IN, in 9 minutes, unless they only had 2 to begin with. We change the plan and half of us order halibut (with a 50 cent upsale for sauce, which was more of a laughing moment than anything- as they ask when you order if you want the orange sauce or tarter sauce, as if you were choosing between one or the other... then pop a 50 cent charge on for either option selected.) The other half, including myself, order the prime rib. It was a mediocre cut but was cooked properly & came with a baked potato. Butter packets on the side & no options to load it up. Adding shrimp was a great value and they were probably the highlight of the meal. Overall, it was not as expected & I regret not choosing elsewhere. The drinks, (we ordered top shelf), were light pours, tho reasonably priced. Not a mask in site, aside from our own & no social distancing in table arrangements. The company was great and service was good. We probably won't give it another shot as there are better options available & plenty of new digs to try!

It was popper stuffed egg rolls. Secret cheeses and diced peppered, deep fried in the wrap. Really really good and unique. I had to try the Bacon Macaroni and Cheese burger. It was really incredible, coming from a restaurant in a town with a population of 300+ folks. The burger was thick, and perfectly cooked. Not too dry, with a slightly juicy light pink center. The Mac and cheese and the bacon crumbles were so good and the potato roll was soft and I just loved it . I could only eat half, the rest is coming on the plane ride home. I don't know when I will be back, but I'm glad I stopped!! I wish them luck! PS: The sweet tea was perfect too, for a hot summer day and the cool breeze of ND. Friendly service, unsuspecting amazing food!

Unfortunately their cook was hospitalized and their kitchen was closed so we went to the other option in Max: Pour Choices Bar and Grill - formerly The Max Cafe. Pour Choices Bar and Grill was having their Grand Opening Weekend so we decided to eat lunch there. My buddy ordered an Aloha Burger which he said was just ok but he said the fries were great. I ordered the Chicken Wing Basket they were excellent, very nicely rendered and crispy. I ordered garlic parmesan wings and they had very good flavor and even with the garlic parmesan they remained crispy and delicious. The wing basket comes with fries and cole slaw but don't get the waffle fries unless you want a $3 up charge! We ate in the bar and it was dimly lit and I didn't see that the waffle fries was an upcharge, I thought it said the wings came with waffle fries and cole slaw but they assured me when charging that the menu said it was extra... 4 Stars for the wings but minus one for the food taking a very long time... 35-40 minutes to come out and it wasn't that busy but I'd still recommend eating there but YMMV. We'll definitely make another drive to Max and try out the Red Light next time. One thing that does bother me is the waitress just announced the bill total without presenting a printed bill for the customer to examine and then pay. I had to ask for a printout and I think that should be a given. $14 wings and a $3 Pepsi turned out to be $21+ because I didn't see the fine print about the waffle fries. They were very good waffle fries but had I known I wouldn't have opted for the extra $3 charge as the regular fries would have been plenty good to have as well.
