Had everything I needed. Very helpful staff. Mix of yarn and bead supplies was amazing. Have a wonderful yarn stock. Went for beads and findings but will definitely be back for yarn. Just have to remember not to buy their entire yarn stock, even though I am tempted. Amazed that this local yarn shop has been here all along and I didn't know about it. Lots of natural fibres. And I can shop hands on!! And they have classes too. Group and individual if needed to help problem solve. So glad a member of my local yarn group meny this shop. I am 100 percent not a crafting-type person, but I was invited to an ornament party and I wanted to make little bead dolls, so I headed to this well-reviewed place in Metro East. So glad I did! The owner was super-helpful as far as helping me figure out what I needed, including recommending things I'd never heard of like jump rings (I think?) and spacers. (I had brought a sample of what I wanted to make.) She answered all my questions and suggested a technique I could use, and gave me a link to a tutorial so I can try to figure it out. In the MetroEast Area of St. Louis, this is the only place to go and find quality and quantity. They have beads, cabochons, Swarovski crystals, hand-made beads, tools, yarn, components, Miche purses, greeting cards, ladies' clothing, jewelry making supplies, bookds, magazines, kits, and much more. The price of their classes are very cheap compared to comparable businesses in St. Louis. How do I know??? I am a teacher for The Bead Place. I teach wire wrapping, silver smithing, and copperworks classes. I just checked the price of a wire wrapping class offered at the bead show in Milwaukee in June 2011. It was $295 for the same class which I teach and charge $35. Their supplies may be included whereas I allow you to select whatever you want to use in the class. A stop at The Bead Place will be well worth your while. There are many classes offered in jewelry making, knitting, crocheting, and much more. read more

When you are looking for special, gorgeous and unique beads, this is the place to go! Their inventory is amazing and the quality stunning! The staff is also super helpful. I'm hoping to take one of their classes soon as well. You can buy a single bead, a strand or a bag. Lots of options! The only reason this one is not 5 stars is that I feel that some of the supplies and maybe the classes are a bit overpriced. HOWEVER given that they are a privately owned shop and not a big box store you expect to pay a bit more. Its not that I don't feel the prices are unfair, just that it puts them out of reach to a beader on a budget. I do wish they had some less expensive options for silver pieces/spacers. They have yarn too but I don't know anything at all about yarn so I can't really offer any insight there. If you are a beader, this is a must visit shop for sure! read more

Have a large and varied selection of beads, probably one of the best selections in the bi-state area. My only problem with this business is I find some of the staff to be downright rude. I visited today, 9/24/16, and put my items down and walked out. The young lady was friendly, but the other more "mature" lady walked away from me twice when asking a question. She , also, turned her back on me when I came to check out. As I was walking to my car, another departing customer was commenting to her companion that she hated to shop there when certain lady was there. read more

I'm not really into bead crafts, but I stopped in here one day to find a replacement for a bead that had fallen off a cocktail dress. The staff was friendly and very helpful without being the least bit pushy or overbearing. The beads seemed high-quality and the selection was huge. The owner and another employee were both very rude when I went in to the store for earring advice. My daughter and I had been talking about making earrings for some time; because of that I was really excited when I saw the store online and made a 45 minute special trip there...only to be told that I would have to come back "some other time". Both were very dismissive...so much for trying to patronize that small business! read more

Staff is friendly and helpful, bead selection is great and yarn selection is pretty good. From what I saw though, prices seem to be about 25% higher than other local stores, at least for some of the yarn. For this much of a difference it would make me shop elsewhere first. read more
