After some persuasion, I agreed to have a makeover done during one of the 'ladies' nights' that a friend of mine had organized. Rachel Renna was the makeup artist that they had hired for the evening. It didn't take long for me to figure out that Rachel is no ordinary makeup artist. She is the next big thing (mark my words). She is one of the most talented artists I have ever come across, and that's including all the encounters I've had with makeup artists throughout my TV career. The thing about Rachel is that she just 'gets' her clients' style. She had one look at me and knew exactly what I would love and what I would hate. Above and beyond that, she handles a brush like no one I've met before. The way she builds, the way she blends, the way she shapes brows... OH MY! The truth is, my words cannot do Rachel's talent justice. She is the best there is when it comes to makeup artistry (I've attached the pictures to prove it) and it wont be long before she becomes an industry leader. You better get in on this while you still can because now that the word is officially out, her waiting list just got a helluvah lot longer.

I found her on Instagram where she constantly advertises to call her for henna service. I contacted her via WhatsApp as advertised however she never responded. I emailed her and she responded with a general quotation. To inquire further on the pricing and understand her availability I called her. She picked up answered a few questions and said that I'll have to give a $100 deposit to secure the date and that she's very busy and will call me back to finalize the details. So I gave her the deposit. After that it went downhill. She was rude, unavailable to answer my questions and finalize the details of the service. In our last conversation I expressed to her that I made the deposit and would like to finalize the details and she lashed out on me very unprofessionally saying "how many times are you calling me". Again she claimed she was busy at that moment and said she will call me back. I asked her what time. She responded rudely "12 am". I was uncomfortable with her poor attitude and asked for my deposit back and decided not to continue with her service. It had been less than 24 hours since I had given her the deposit, so I felt asking for it back given the timing was fair. She refused to give the deposit back claiming it's non refundable. This lady is extremely rude, unprofessional and walked away with my $100. It seems she locks in the clients by taking their deposit and then takes advantage of the situation and puts the client in an uncomfortable position almost forcing them to walk away from the service so that she can pocket the deposit. Do not be scammed like I did. I have never had an experience like this before.

You could hire the fanciest stylist and most well-known makeup artist in Toronto, but what if they take 10 days to reply to your email or only give you the time of day a week before your wedding? That might not be a problem to some couples, but it was to us. It actually took awhile for us to find a makeup artist in Toronto who a) didn't have certain demands regarding travel, packages, etc., b) didn't take 5 days to respond to us, c) actually showed genuine compassion and interest in their work and craft, and for their client. I met Daniela a few months before our wedding, and knew she was the one! Out of over 20 makeup artists in Toronto that I contacted, she was the only one who suggested an in-person meeting to talk about my wedding. Honestly, I can't even express how much I appreciated that. She came to our meeting prepared, actually took the time to take notes and understand what I'd be wearing, the look and style I was going for, etc. I knew from the very start that, with Daniela, I was in very good, talented, and responsible hands. And as a bride, trust in your vendor is so key - and I trusted Daniela fully! On our wedding day, Daniela came early and prepared, and was totally unfazed when my mom changed her mind about what she wanted. She is the epitome of creativity, talent, and professionalism. And most importantly - I loved the look she gave me on our wedding day! She can do so many types of looks, and can totally diversify if you ask her to. Show her a picture of what you want - and she'll replicate it. She is so incredibly talented, and you absolutely can't go wrong with choosing her to do your makeup, for whatever occasion, wedding or otherwise! My make-up looked beautiful and I had loads of compliments about it all day. Daniela even gave me my own tube of touch-up gloss to go, so that I could keep myself looking fresh all day. She has a great set up with fabulous lighting and she did my make-up in a beautiful, natural look. She's also a very warm person and great conversationalist, even managed to make me forget I was getting married in several hours and I felt quite calm after. Thanks Daniela!!
