I have been to places that look nicer- it has more of a bare bones clinical feel than one of those spa like environments but I imagine as business grows that stuff will come. As a newer business, the priority seems to be on providing what is needed for delivering a proper technical service as priority, which I can't fault. My wax service itself was excellent. Walking in was the smell of disinfectant and looking around it seemed really clean and sanitized practices. I love that she used hard wax. I find that a rarity and but my wax was so clean. I didn't really notice the pain or discomfort since it was so minimal compared to other waxing I've done. Even as it grew back in I had no ingrown hairs and I swear it grew back slower. Waxing is incredibly tricky with black skin as the hair is coarser and ingrown hairs and hyperpigmentation are a concern. So if you can wax black hair well you can wax any hair well. I have had waxing done for over a decade at various establishments but here I really saw the difference highly skilled and knowledgeable specialist makes here.

She then told me a Brazilian is $40... I only got a Brazilian that time and paid $45. I respect Lynn and for what she does, but I too deserve the same respect. Great for first timers! Firstly, they were able to accommodate me ASAP and it worked with my afterwork hours (i really appreciated that). Secondly, I was assigned Priya as my hairdresser yesterday and she immediately took me to her clean workstation and started to do a consult with me. I only had to use a few basic words, and she was able to show me pictures of her clients. We planned the style together and adjusted as we went along. Not only is she so kind, professional, and accommodating but she made me feel like her sister by the end. She took her time; she made me feel comfortable throughout and I would definitely recommend her again and to everyone in need of a professional & clean cut. Two of my best friends went back and each of them had a different experience. One friend went to Marie, and she said she was amazing. Honestly it's a hit or miss, but make sure you do your research before you go, because a lot of people complain from the services they get done here. The front desk staff is RUDE! I spoke to someone named Amanda who seemed kind over the phone and she told me to come in for a consult, however the next day when I came in, another girl was being blunt and really rude saying oh who told you to come in and what not. I've been coming to this hair salon so often and never experienced that. Oh well, they lost one of their valuable customers. Jasmyne was my aesthetician, she made me feel comfortable and walked me through the process of my service. I left not knowing what the results should look and feel like, but now that I've gotten a bunch of Brazilian sugars done (with another business), I can confirm that my experience with Sugar Me Spa was not great. I still had a lot of hair that hadn't been "pulled" out by the sugar, but I thought that's how Brazilian waxes were as it was my first time receiving one. It looked like I had shaved quickly and didn't bother to go over a second time to get all the remaining hairs. It didn't bother me as I trusted the process and was planning to book with Sugar Me Spa again once time came. Their online booking was extremely inaccurate in regards to the times and/or dates available for services. I booked my second appointment, only to be texted that the establishment was closed during the time slot I had chosen and I had reschedule. I wasn't able to reschedule, so I cancelled it instead. I booked another appointment 1 month later (with Jasmyne as I already dealt with her my first time around), through the same online system. I received another text a week before my appointment stating Jasmyne was not working during the date and time I had chosen. I was offered different dates and times to reschedule, however, time was too tight to reschedule. I asked if another aesthetician could provide the service, to no avail. I rescheduled my appointment 1 month later (with Jasmyne) in August 2019, only to be texted that Jasmyne couldn't make it to work and was asked to reschedule again... Overall, over a span of 4 months, I went once with mediocre results. Their appointment booking service is extremely hectic and inconsistent.

Here's what I like about New Skin: 1) Effective laser - I have tried 3-4 different lasers in the past and have had little to no success (I have have medium-dark skin with very dark hair). They are always making sure that you are comfortable and that you're not in any pain. Other places I've been make me feel really rushed and unimportant (especially when you use a Groupon like I did), but these guys are great! 3) No trouble getting in touch to book an appointment - Really easy to get an appointment, they will always get back to you. I've heard horror stories about places that sell tons of Groupons and then don't respond to phone calls. This is not that kind of place. 4) Virtually pain free - Overall the treatment is very comfortable, and since this is the type of laser that they keep in constant movement, you don't get that one 'flash' of pain. It just feels warm over your skin, and they will always ask if it's too warm for you and make adjustments if necessary. The only drawback with this place is that the office is kind of strange, the room you get the treatment in is really nice and clean but the waiting room is a little odd and there's no receptionist, you just have to wait until they're done with their last patient (so far they've been really punctual). Other than that I have no complaints at all. Just know that you're not going to walk into a super swanky spa or anything, the office is minimalist but it's clean and it gets the job done.
