Not as severe as stadium seating in modern theatets but impressive for it's age. The seats are very comfortable and more impressive is there is plenty of leg room. The sound and picture are perfect. The concessions are very old school but acceptable. Sodas are the Traverse City Pop Company, can't remember their name. The only real downside is the bathrooms are up some very narrow stairs. Overall to me this was a 5 star experience. Will I return. Yes, I love this theater.

Of course, the ceiling black light mural is a delight for the eyes as well. But let's be honest. A big part of the attraction is the popcorn. This has got to be the best movie popcorn in the country. One taste and you'll have a hard time going back to the styrofoam they serve at the megaplexes. Going to the movies at the Cinema is an experience that transcends whatever happens to be showing on the screen...

Holy smokes, Batman! Movie ticket prices here are so cheap…read more We came on a gloomy drizzly afternoon. Perfect excuse to head indoors and watch a movie. Saw Mad Max in 3D for 6 buckeroos! What a pleasant surprise. It was matinee pricing so tickets are EXTRA cheap. I didn't believe the guy when he told us what we owed and I had to confirm with him that yes, it was indeed the price for 3D. Even further discounts given if you're a student, in the military, a senior (60+), or a child (3-12). Concessions are also priced very reasonably. Theater is very cute and charming looking, both inside and out. It's right off the main street. Our ticket seller was very friendly and chatted us up a bit. They're forced to wear black formal attire so that kind of snazzes up the place. Comfortable seating, no complaints about our movie experience. Perk about seeing movies here are there a ton of commercials for local businesses shown some of which are wow, just no words. Pretty amazing to watch though. You get the impression this is a tight knit community. It was cute though because I walked by a candy shop just minutes before and recognized the owner after seeing him in the commercial for his shop. Pretty nifty!

There is only a tiny angle to the seating, so it is far from stadium seating. The seats are very crunched together so not the most comfortable. The picture and sound are good. Just not alot of charm to the place. So it kinda fits that it was built in the 90's. Overall I'd give 3 stars. Would I return? Yes if I was in the area and it was the only place showing what I want to watch or had a better time or I just wanted to eat in Charlevoix.

I thought their prices would be a bit more reasonable but was disappointed. Concessions were as expected, popcorn was cold and drinks somewhat warm. I had very high expectations from this place and was let down, unfortunately. Kids enjoyed the small playground they have, was glad for that. Still debating if my family and I should visit here again, we'll see.

A great concession stand that isn't over priced or ridiculous like modern movie theaters (seriously--a bucket of popcorn for $3? A jumbo soda for $2? Insane) and they carry more than just popcorn. Candy, caramel apples, ice cream, milk shakes, a variety of fried foods including funnel cake. The place just smells awesome. Old neon signs adorn the walls as well as photos of classic Hollywood stars. Neato! Each night your entrance fee buys you into a double feature. Usually it's a kid's movie first followed by a grown up feature. This past weekend it was two adult films-- Salt and Grown Ups. You pull your car into the slot and you have the old fashioned speakers hanging next to your car should you choose them. I'm a mosquito magnet so leaving the windows open would just not do so we opted to listen to the radio feed that runs over a local FM station. Right in front of the screen are swings and a few playground pieces for kids to play around in. Some folks choose to sit on blankets outside of their cars. However you feel most comfortable you can go for it at the Cherry Bowl. The show begins after dusk and before the first film they make special occasion announcements and everyone lays down on the horn in congratulations of birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc. So cute! Then they play an old cartoon short (e.g. an old Disney Mickey Mouse short) and then the first feature film. Following that is a classic intermission with old "let's all go to the lobby" reels, commercials for mosquito repellant and pickles. Really awesome old timey stuff. Then the second feature beings. We were exhausted and not particularly interested in seeing Grown Ups so we made sure to stick out for the awesome intermission and took off after. If you're up in the Leelanau area I highly recommend this wonderful blast from the past. The films never go over pg-13 so it's usually kid friendly faire and fun for all ages!
