Got a group of friends together and did Airsoft for a few hours here. Definitely worth it! Would be a nice team building activity for companies too lol. The first floor has RC crawler and drift tracks too with a nice layout. You can bring your own RC or they have ones you can rent. My boys love The Battlegrounds, and I love to take them there. It's a great environment for pre-teens and young teens. They run around, they have fun shooting each other (for whatever reason, lol), but safety is a top priority so I don't worry about them getting hurt. I play gel blasters when they do that, because it really doesn't hurt and we all have fun. They like the airsoft too, even thought I don't do that. We don't do Nerf because my boys are too old for that, but their Nerf play areas are cool. They guys that act as refs do a really good job teaching and keeping things fair. And their process is just like an amusement park. Organized and clear and helpful. Def recommend. read more

Two different maps, the town and the warehouse. Town was good, warehouse was lousy, cluttered and too many gaps and openings to get shot from. Refs were professional and polite and kept games fair. Rental guns were actually pretty good. If I have a gripe it is that the prices are a bit steep. Most places that charge $25 allow you to play all day. Here, you get a 3 hour window. On the other hand, there was minimal downtime between games so you got some value. read more

Would not recommend. Will not return. We traveled roughly an hour and a half out at the recommendation of a friend. It did not live up to the hype. Several factors led to a rather lackluster outing. We'll start with the pros: One time fee ($5) for all day air tank fills Actual referee staff was friendly and helpful Unfortunately that's where the positives end. Expensive field fee (~$35) for a day pass Poor map design. One team was almost always spawn trapped. On site technician staff was friendly, but unhelpful "Briefings" were short, or non-existent Objectives were uninteresting, impossible, or absurd. Every match was essentially TDM. Management (anyone not actually out on the fields) was snarky, tone-deaf, disrespectful, and all around very unprofessional. Our group was constantly getting split up because (in a very loud staging area) we couldn't hear that a "briefing" was starting and were denied entry because we weren't present to listen to whatever drivel was presented. Worse yet, management was mocking when we expressed concerns, and I was told that if we were late again, we would be denied entry to any match for the rest of the day. $35 is quite a hefty fee to sit in the staging area and wait. We decided to cut our losses half-way through our paid-for time and just pack up and leave. We won't be returning. I don't understand the glowing reviews for this place. If you go here, you'll leave at best, indifferent. At worst, angry and frustrated. read more

Great for young kids, private parties but... wouldn't recommend for people who are not interested in being spawn trapped all day, told you are being aggressive just for being on a "streak" against newer players, having your friends split up from each other because your all wearing the same camo and to make it "fair" the place is limited due to its structure so for adults it's a bit frustrating something out of an 80's movie warehouse shootout. In business terms it's a money maker for parties and such But my largest issue is the all around... cockiness from staff or the "I'm better then you mentality" every time I've been there I didn't feel welcomed and also had weird issues like my gun chrono-ing "high" but had a spring out in and previously chrono'd under their rules and also would not let me see what it was firing at so I could make adjustments, which led with me being asked to leave if I couldn't follow the rules... this is just my personal opinion, There's bad employees everywhere, and I have not had the same refs and staff every visit.. so I don't know, hope they work things out and continue to shine read more

I don't do this, my kids do. And I'm sure they could go on and on about how much they enjoy the air soft arenas. But from a parent perspective top notch quality staff. Hands on helpful I can't say enough good things about the staff. I assume that's top down. You could make a day of it. Drop off the kids, head on over to the Waterfront some shopping, then pick them up on our way home. Everyone's happy. read more

I'm writing this review to give this place the recognition it deserves. My son went to two Nerf birthday parties back to back at the Battlegrounds today (what child wouldn't love that, right?!) He had such a great time & all the employees were so great with the kids. I wanted to write a review though to emphasize how great the owner is. My son misplaced his favorite hoodie at the first party. It wasn't until the second party was over until he realized it was missing. The owner noticed him crying & how upset he was. He took it upon himself to go & grab him a battlegrounds hoodie & give it to him to make him feel better. What a guy! I didn't catch your name but your small gesture made a little boys night! I have been here a couple of time now and each time I return I have fun yet I leave angry. The game itself and the maps there are amazing. The facility really sets the mood. They are also strict with their safety which help with possible injuries. Their rental guns and materials are nice quality stuff and not cheap stuff just to fit into their budget. However, some of their staff are not the greatest. The last time I was there we had told this ref that this one player had been shooting us from two feet away and kept shooting us after we declared we were hit among other rules he broke. When we told the ref he said he'd handle it. He did nothing. We told him about it again and he mention that he was a regular and that he knew that rules. He was playing favorites. I had finally had enough after the third time and ended up not playing anymore. Don't get me wrong there were other staff there that helped me and assisted me in what ever I need and were nice. It's just sad that it seem like every time I go there is always that one employee that happens to be be rude and mean about things ( different employe each time) also rental and entry for all day is $60 which is outrageously expensive read more

I went this weekend with my friend, and upon getting there, we had to have our masks examined. Neither of our masks were allowed to be used, and we were somewhat disappointed. However, they let you use one of their masks for no extra charge because you attempted to bring one. I was pleased, and, compared to surrounding locations, this was the cheapest alternative. Now, you can either rent a gun and a mask, or, if you have guns and masks, you can go and pay a fair bit less. We spent about $25 for 5 hours there, when we had brought guns and masks. Now, 5 hours is about 11 15-20 minute games. They give you a short 10 or so minute break before resuming the next game, but you are welcome to sit out of games if needed. To keep it simple, here is a pro-con list about the place. Pro: Staff is very friendly, as well as other players. Nerf Parties are welcome as well, for those who are too young or like nerf more than airsoft. Owner makes regular visits to lobby, and is very friendly. The multiple game modes give the users experience more variety and, overall, makes the time more fun. Staff is always willing to help out new players Arena includes store for guns and equipment, all high quality All staff members are familiar with the game and are in a good mood Groups are sometimes split up to make the experience more fun for players that are less experienced and more experienced While refs and staff are very strict when it comes to safety, it is all for good and keeps players safe Cons: Not all guns there are the same, so based on the gun you have, you may have a serious advantage or disadvantage There is a 365 fps limit with .20 gram BBs, so if our own a gun over that it is not allowed and you will have to buy either a velocity reducer or rent a gun. Otherwise, it is a great place to spend an afternoon and a good friendly environment. read more

Went here with a few friends... took an hour and a half to get out there. Upon arrival, we were hit with a startling $30 all day fee.(our local field charges $10 all day) Disregarding the fee, we were then met by a man named Alex, a very nice, understanding, and helpful guy. He and the female employee who's name I did not get Were the highlights of our disappointing trip. The staging area was large and well able to accommodate A large number of people, however this quickly became an issue when games were called and announcements were missed to due to the noise. The games were hit or miss and the objective games slowly turned into a game of tdm. At the end of our visit, we were greeted by one of the staff members, he asked how it was and if we were ever going to come back. We all responded with a quick "Never again," and went on with our business. He then asked us if it was the fault of their female employee, when she was probably one of the only friendly staff members. I found that to be a little sexist, but that's just me. On a side note: Tech Service: IF YOU AGREE TO HELP A PLAYER OUT WITH A PROBLEM, ATTEND TO THAT FIRST! Realize that the reputation of your field and tech skills is going to be based on your readiness to help and your ability to be time efficient when helping people with a problem. Would I recommend? No, I think it's worth it to spend your money elsewhere and not have to deal with that kind of snarky and rude(excluding the two employees previously stated, I would praise them)staff and have a sub par time at the cost of $30. There's quite a few fields in Pennsylvania, and this one is at the bottom of my list so far. read more

This place is the best. If you are a fan of airsoft you NEED to come here. There are 2 fields which is awesome! And if you haven't played airsoft before you should really come here. The are opened every weekend and are opened from 12 pm to 12 am. So REMEMBER to come here. read more

The games here are based on the honor system and ridiculously stupid. If you get hit, you are to yell "Hit!", raise your hand and return to base to respawn. What happens is, guys will not yell hit when they are hit then when you yell hit they will continue to shoot at you as you return to base. They will even aim for your unprotected raised hand. I left with two bleeding wounds. There is no scoring system. It's just a free for all. There is no point at all to these games. Don't waste your money here. The staff are also a bit rude and very cocky. They all think they are so cool. read more

We had my son's 8th birthday party at The Battlegrounds in the Nerf Castle Arena and it was fantastic! The boys had a blast and even the parents got in on the action. It was great fun for all!! Note this is not about reserved parties. This is about when you have a small group and show up to play the regular two arenas they have available. Very unprofessional staff. NO consideration for the fact that people pay to be here and the refs are part of the experience. Its like they gave a bunch of teenagers the keys to the place and said good luck. Referees are usually mean and grumpy and on a POWER TRIP. They will ask someone which side they want to play and then say they have the opposite side. It'd be different if it only happened occasionally and it seemed playful but it is instead used as a way to exert their authority and is obvious they get off on it. Publicly humiliate people if they did something wrong instead of taking them to the side and telling them what they did was wrong. Often times some refs will also participate in the games and neglect the rules while acting hostile towards the players. You would think someone in that position would take the higher road. This is not just one experience. Have been here many times as it is the only indoor arena in Pittsburgh and have finally decided to stop supporting this business.
