With all respect, Steve is an old man. Patience is thin and too much for him to handle. I believe some one that is younger or a family member that is younger to keep the legacy going and Ofcourse UPDATE THE PLACE with modern equipment plus little splash of attraction for more kids be interested in learning or focus on techniques needed to play better. I've been to this batting cage a few times with my children. After today I will never return. I made a reservation yesterday for a softball cage this afternoon. I show up a few minutes early with my child stating my name and that I reserved a softball cage. The owner Steve shook his head and repeatedly told me I asked for a little league cage not a softball cage and he knows what he said when I called for the reservation. Well rude sir, I said I know what I asked for which was a SOFTBALL cage not a little league cage (which I didn't even know he had those) and told him this also repeatedly as he continued to be disrespectful and rude to me in front of my child. Because I was raised properly, I decided not to continue to engage with a business owner who was yelling at me in front of customers and can't apologize for his own error, and walked out. Steve should learn proper business etiquette and answer his phone in an area where it's not so noisy so he could have heard me properly when I made the reservation for a softball cage. He was also rude then when I made the reservation telling me repeatedly to be on time as if I had intentions to not show up and screw him out of money. I am shocked this place has been in business so long with an owner who behaves that way. They just lost a customer and I'll let everyone I know know not to bring their money there. Pretty good batting cage. It is a relatively small place; they have 3 cages with baseball/softball pitching machines and a regular cage. When I was younger I used to come for team practices and use the machines and other nets for front toss. Now, I use the cages during the winter to hit off the tee and get some front toss so the cages really do their purpose for me. They have tees and bats to borrow if you want to come here with some friends for something fun to do. The staff is really nice and the rates for 15, 30, and 60 minutes are pretty reasonable (as shown in one of my pictures). To pay, however, it is CASH ONLY. My friend and I didn't know this prior to renting the cage, we were lucky we had enough cash! The good thing is is that they have an ATM by the front. Also, since there is a limited amount of cages I would recommend to call in advance. read more

I was here recently and the owner was extremely disrespectful to me and my son. My son came here to practice some hitting and he needed a new bat because his old one was too small for him. We ask to borrow a bat and he said "He's playing Baseball and doesn't have a bat he's not going to be a good player." My son is already insecure about himself within sports and this jerk made it worse. Never going back here and I hope this jerk learns respect to his customers. I used to go to Steve Tipa's batting cage years ago, and boy is that guy a hoot. First of all, he's this unshaven husky bear of a man -- looks like a cross between a washed-up 70s porn star and a car mechanic. Secondly, he has a plaque from his early Minor League career hanging next to plaques of Hank Aaron, Don Mattingly, and, like, Yogi Berra. All I can say is Yogi is honored to be in good company, Steve. As a batting coach, he talks to you as an estranged father would talk to his son after 25 years without contact. Once every ten minutes, he'll murmur, "Hands." He'll then take care of someone at the front desk, answer a phone call, and come back right before your half-hour is up and say, "Feet." There definitely is a mismatch between his prices and his facility. The place and machinery are a bit scuzzy, and you have to pick up the balls on your own. But Steve realizes three things: 1) There's an industry in fathers thinking their sons as future Yankees superstars, 2) Long Island location means Long Island prices, 3) Where else are you going to go? So then why did I give this place 4 stars? Because I spent my childhood here, and there are very few things in your childhood you'd ever want to give less than 4 stars to. read more

Nice spot to hit some balls. Never too crowded that you cant hit. Great atmosphere as well, a real-homey feel for a local athlete. The owner also gave me a discount on a carolina clubs bat when i broke mine in the cage. The typa guy that would split his last twix bar so that you wouldn't go without. You can usually hear him humming a beautiful melodic tune if you're lucky to get close enough. The sultan of swat ladies and gentleman. Stay hydrated fellas. read more
