Whenever you'd ask for something to be done, it mostly got done. The apartments in the independent living section of the retirement community were spacious. The apartments typically had one bedroom, a bathroom, a small kitchen with appliances and a living room area. The bathroom didn't have a bathtub but the shower was big. There was also a few closets. The residents upstairs have a balcony. It has enough room to put in a small table with chairs. The balcony also had a small room for storage. There's also laundry rooms and a driver for the residents. They are able to order all three meals from their kitchen. If not, meals can be prepared in their own kitchen. The food is pretty good from here. My favorite desserts were the spumoni and tiramisu cake. They are wonderful! Their Mexican and Chinese food is also pretty good. Prior to the pandemic, residents were invited to social hour, Bingo, outings to restaurants, live music and more in their activity room or lobby. The staff still provides them with activities to do in their apartment these days. I'm going to say it's pricey to live here.

They don't shower residents daily (that's a minus). Great rehabilitation therapists (super bonus!!). The main reason for only 3 stars is that it's always a hassle to get a hold of the social workers here. They get annoyed by dealing with the kids, if we the kids have questions on the $$$ charges and really are not helpful to understand beyond: that is how it is! They are not upfront on the costs. Admin staff really need to understand that not all people talk and understand the process of Medicare, Medicaid and we don't know all the options, and them being the professionals don't help out to make it more understandable so they leave you hanging with all this doubts and questions. Other big minus is their medical staff (or lack off) they only have 1 doctor that visits the patients for less than 1 minute and they make the residents try to schedule an appointment for which they wait maybe 8-10 days and the doctor is so unprofessional that skips or forgets so if your elder or rehab patient needs primary doctors review good luck!

I was in town briefly for my…read moreGrandfathers funeral & I accompanied my Grandmother to an appointment she set up that same morning for exceptional pain (probably brought on by stress due to her husbands death) First, the clinic is very clean, they offer coffee & offer snack to the patients by taking a little snack cart around. These people are on a first name patients with their patients & not just the Doctors, the entire staff! Once we got in to her exam room, the Medical Assistant, Jesse was taking her vitals & I told him that my Grandfather passed away & if there was anything he could do to get us through the appointment fast, it would be greatly appreciated because his services were in just a few hours. This staff sprung in to action! Jeff Taylor, the Nurse Practitioner who she was assigned to came in to the exam room, looked straight in to her eyes and sincerely apologized for her loss. He addressed her pain and distress in a professional and compassionate manor & we were on our way in no time. On the way out, she was hugged and greeted by this wonderful staff. I live in Los Angeles and can't be with my Grandmother but I'm so grateful for this caring staff & feel relieved that they care for her so well. It eases my mind like you wouldn't believe. The best and my only choice when it comes to my new baby girl, Penelope! We had our delivery at UMC…read morebecause of the great hospital staff and MDs but little did we know our baby girl was gonna need the help of EPCH. Good thing UMC has their L&D inside of EPCH! Right when the MD recognized our situation, the number of specialists that came to our aid was not only comforting but reassuring. They quickly went to work and got her home with only 3 days on the PICU. The whole hospital staff, from MDs to RNs, front desk to behind the scenes, were helpful, very informative, and very patient with our million questions. Being in the medical field myself, it was great to see everyone take their time and be very thorough with us. All to often, people are in too much of a rush, but not at EPCH! We got all our questions answered and got answers to questions we didn't even know we had! Our frequent visits to the PICU were spent by picking the brains of all the RNs about routines, nursing, sleeping, swaddling, to use or not to use kinda advice. So I guess you can say we made the best of our situation. I love that EPCH is a teaching hospital because it allowed us to clue in to what concerns the MDs had and what they were looking for, allowing us plenty of opportunities to ask and learn from the specialists. But with that being said, the residents were super knowledgable and very approachable and friendly. Overall, if you or your wife, or you are pregnant and your looking around for a hospital, take a look at EPCH with the UMC L&D floor. The only worries you'll have is how are you gonna get some sleep afterwards
