Before you think of The Barn as a wild and shit-crazy place, wait a sec! For at least half the day, it's far from what you think it is.
I'm sure most outsiders and even a couple of Taft-dwellers know Barn as the insane, noisy-as-hell drinking place for the true hardcore Happy Thursday goers. And when it's 6PM onwards (or sometimes even earlier), that description is completely accurate. There are no words to describe Barn on a Thursday night except WAG KA PUMASOK SA BANYO. Legit, unless you wanna walk into the most awkward situation ever, do not go inside that bathroom. I guarantee that you well never see as many tongues as you do in Barn on Thursdays.
Barn during the day, however, is a completely different beast: a full-fledged two-floor restaurant with some of the best food around the area. Daytime barn comes in two different flavors. There's the ground floor, which is filled with flies and kind of hot, but has this weird rustic appeal. Here's the kind of place where you can actually order a beer with lunch (you probably shouldn't though). Most of the items on the menu are fried foods. I suggest going for their wings and splitting with friends: they have an all-natural salted flavor which, for me, actually beats a lot of the flavored wings around the area.
On the other hand, there's Barn Cafe on the second floor. The ambience here is very classy; it's clear that they've paid close attention to their decorations. Living up to their name as a cafe, they make a hell of a good cappucino there, I have to say. Barn Cafe makes some of the best rustic, southern American cuisine around the area. They cook their chicken really fucking well too.
If you want to go to one of the best restaurants around DLSU, then Barn definitely fits the bill: regardless of its less than flowery reputation during the night. read more
