Great little pub opposite the pond in Barnes and a great place to go in the summer. Nice outside area that is also well heated, so you can still sit outside most of the time apart from the sub zero evenings. Smallish in size it has two bar area's and then a fair few tables to sit and chat or get some of the improving food. Probably the best pub in Barnes (certainly to my knowledge) it is always busy after work/ early evening and also at the week-ends. There are not many reasons to go to Barnes, there isn't great shopping it is a pain to get too and not a lot goes on here. But if you find yourself over that way it is certainly worth a visit.

I mean, they sell so many beers, and seem to keep adding more to their list, it's nearly unbelievable. There are real ales, fruit beers, European beers (including three of my favourites, Leffe, Duvel and Erdinger), a chocolate beer, three ciders on tap, endless shelves of bottles... and Burt's crisps! Burt is very good at making crisps. What a wonderful bar snack. If it's more then crisps you're after, the menu aint half bad, either. Different burgers and sandwiches and salads are on offer as well as a couple of vegetarian offerings, the classic fish and chips, roast chicken and sausages as well... And as if that wasn't enough, the atmosphere is great, there are little cosy alcoves in which to sit on a winter's evening, and a great selection of board games to wile away a Sunday afternoon. 5 stars indeed. They offer food and there are some healthy choices on the menu but my Halloumi salad was utterly tasteless. The cous cous had no flavour at all - just a mushy mess. Eggs Benedict came with something that had the consistency of hollandaise but not the flavour. What redeems this place is that it's 2 for 1 on Thursday nights,the service is swift and it's in a great location. I'd drink in there again but I wouldn't touch their food any more.

There's no table service here but you can order from your phone using an app or just order from the bar. What makes this place great are their ridiculously cheap deals! OH how I loooove them great deals! You can get an ish load of food for about £3.50 (that's roughly $5 in American dollars give or take the daily exchange rate). They also have great deals on drinks and you can get pitchers of beer and cocktails for dirt cheap too. I ended up ordering their traditional breakfast in addition to a bowl of porridge which was too damn much food for lil' ol' me. But you know how Yelp goes; eyes are always bigger than your stomach! The traditional breakfast includes sausage, bacon, hash browns, toast, eggs, beans and a tomato. HELLA food for £3.50!!! As far as the food quality goes, it was nothing spectacular but it was still good. It did the deed for brunch so I wasn't complaining. I attended with my fiancé and was looking forward to what should have been a fun evening. At the start of the night, the karaoke DJ accepted my song request and our duet requests without any issue. However, as the evening went on, I noticed that we were being treated differently from other customers. Despite having submitted our songs earlier, we were skipped twice in a row. Meanwhile, a white couple who had arrived more than an hour after us were repeatedly called up to sing ahead of us. The most upsetting moment came when the DJ announced that it was our turn. I went forward expecting to sing my solo song, only to be told that I could not. The DJ claimed that he thought my fiancé and I were supposed to be singing a different duet first. When my fiancé politely asked whether I could simply sing my song next, the DJ instead blamed him for supposedly numbering our song requests incorrectly. This was not true, but my fiancé apologised anyway in an attempt to keep things friendly and again asked whether I could go next. Even then, the DJ refused and said he would call another singer first, despite having already announced that it was our turn. At that point, we decided to leave. Before leaving, we raised our concerns with the pub manager because the entire experience had left us feeling degraded and unwelcome. As a black woman attending with my fiancé in a mixed-ethnicity relationship, I could not ignore the contrast between how we were treated and how white customers were treated that evening. Afterwards, my fiancé followed up with the manager, who said that he had spoken to the karaoke host but did not understand what the miscommunication had been. He also explained that the karaoke host was employed by a separate entertainment company rather than by the pub itself, and that there was nothing further he was able to do beyond passing on our concerns. I cannot know what was in the DJ's mind, but based on what happened, I was left with the strong impression that I was not being treated equally. I therefore feel it is important to share my experience so that others can make their own informed decision about whether to attend this karaoke night. While I appreciate that the manager did at least raise the matter with the karaoke host, I was disappointed that no explanation could be provided for why we were skipped repeatedly, why I was prevented from singing when it had been announced as our turn, or why other customers who had arrived much later appeared to be given preferential treatment. I sincerely hope these concerns are taken seriously in future and that all customers, regardless of ethnicity or background, are treated fairly and with respect.
