I'm fond of this pub - just off the main road which runs alongside the canal, it's a quirky little place. It serves a range of usual lagers/ ciders/ decent wine list. But it does a very small but effective range of real ales - for which it won the CAMRA North London pub of the year (i think) last year. (there is a certificate from CAMRA behind the bar) If you are a fan of Black Sheep, Spitfire, Timothy Taylor, Ruddles County etc then you could do worse. The landlord also promotes a different malt whiskey each month. The menu is large enough, quality is reasonable. Most dishes are under a tenner. The Sunday roasts are vast!. For fun there's a quiz night every Thursday night - quite popular, and you can win some serious money if there is a roll over, it's not that serious, plus a pool table, and table football table upstairs, and a large screen for sporting events. The pub shows most football games, plus cricket, rugby and, occassionally, WSB and MotoGP.
There are live music events - the Blues Bandits being a regular
The pub also has supports a football and cricket team.
It's a short walk from the Wenlock Arms (a yelp fav). The 2 respective cricket teams have an annual match - the mini ashes. read more
