I can't recommend this place enough!…read more I was with a group of 6 gal pals exploring Northern Ireland, and this recommendation came from our cab driver in Dublin a few days prior. We decided to check it out since it was on our way to Belfast, and we were so glad we did! What an AWESOME spot! The decor is incredible - so many little old school trinkets jammed in every little cranny - it makes it feel like grandmas house, and so charming at that. And the food... everything we ordered (which was a lot!) was incredibly delicious! The bread they served for appetizer was so good we bought a loaf to take with us for breakfast the next day! Highly highly recommend the French Onion Soup - best I've ever had. And the fried fish/shrimp appetizer was delicious and so cute - served on individual forks! The beet and goat cheese app was also superb. I could go on and on about how much I loved this place, from the decor to the food to the service, but instead I'll leave it at this: Visit! If I'm ever back in the area I know that I'll for sure be back. Yum!

This was hands-down the most aesthetically pleasing place we've eaten in all of Ireland. And the…read morefood was good too. We found this place close to the hotel we were staying at and it had great reviews and so we decided to give it a shot we were not disappointed. I bad the steak it was cooked a little more than I would like for a medium rare, and my partner had the salmon and a zero Guinness. The service was fast and Everyone was friendly and we would definitely stop in again. Wheelchair accessibility: there are several disabled parking spots close to the venue and a zero rise entry to get into the building; the doorways are slightly narrow, but they were easily able to accommodate us with a wheelchair at a lovely table. There's also table seating inside and out that would be wheelchair friendly and the bathroom was roomy and accessible.

We enjoyed a life saving stop at Lumper's Bar this past July. We were making our way north from…read moreDublin on a cycling safari, and getting terrific tans in an unprecedented Irish heat wave. We staggered into Lumper's, situated at the base of the Tain Trail, before our anticipated afternoon climb over the Cooley Mountains down into Carlingford. Suffering from heat exhaustion and hunger following the morning's 30 mile ride in 91 degree temperatures, we tottered into the pub. After pouring buckets of water over our heads in the restrooms, we were revived enough to dive into the many life-saving baskets of triangular-cut sandwiches, bowls of comforting homemade vegetable soup, and the seemingly endless pitchers of fresh water that John quickly placed in front of us. When we could eat no more, John entertained us with many tales about the famous lumper potato, the nearby Magic Hill where cars, when placed in neutral after traversing the fairy-inhabited hill, rolled backwards back over the hill, and hiking and camping adventures John leads on "his mountain." If we are ever again in this corner of the world, we will be stopping at Lumper's Bar for sure!

The hospitality of the owners was great too who really went out of their way to look after us who even allowed us to use their showers. The following morning we were invited to join them for some hill-walking. We would have been completely lost if we hadn't found this place. This is a must stop in the Tain Way.

This is my favorite place to eat in Dundalk!…read more My other half and I just LOVE it. The food is absolutely superb. Portion sizes are great. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Its great value. We had a starter and main along with one drink each and it was just under €50. Excellent value. The decor and atmosphere are just lovely.

We were invited guests and had been told that this place was as good as Fitzpatrick's without the…read morehigh cost. It's not as good. That said there were lots of five star elements here but while I settled on four stars I've knocked one off for reasons that follow. If you hit Fitzpatricks on a good day it's exceptional and the difference in cost between these two places is not significant. The key problem with the food put before me was lack of proper seasoning. I had scallops to start and they were very good indeed. The seasoning in this dish relied on chorizo 'crumb' and chorizo featured in other dishes. It added to taste but not enough so chef needs to be brave. There was no sea salt on the table and when you offer crab claws, prawns pil pil and scallops then tables should have sea salt, black pepper and tabasco as norm with smoked paprika, if required. My mushroom pasta main was a generous portion but very poor tasting. The pasta wasn't fresh but a dried product - the quality could have been better so go for the higher cost bronze die cut pasta. My main was not an enjoyable eat. I left half of it - there was not enough cream, not enough butter and not enough high quality parmesan and just not seasoned; great parmesan alone with sea salt and pepper would have greatly benefited the dish. My wife had the Caesar salad and a hake main and she thought both very good. One of the party shared a sage croquette and it tasted excellent. The restaurant was bright, airy and warm but the problem with seating is that four of us were at a small corner table so it wasn't as comfortable as I'd like. What I really disliked was one of the party - a customer that makes paydays - asked for onion rings with his main and he was refused. Yet onion rings come with their steaks. What's the problem - just not good enough really so a star off but I'd still like to know why not and I know Fitzpatrick's certainly wouldn't refuse? The staff were ace and very attentive. We didn't have desserts and the cappuccino was just about ok and needs focus to improve which isn't hard. Fitzpatrick's do do great coffee. We will likely return as two where I can be more fussy about the food. In fact I look forward to it.
