Meyer's Castle - Meyer's Castle Wedding Venue - Franzi Annika Photography

    Meyer's Castle

This review is for Meyers Castle event venue:…read more My mother, and now husband, hosted their wedding here the end of May. The ceremony was outside at the gazebo and the reception inside in the Oak Room. It does not even need much decor, the space itself is so pretty. We utilized the downstairs bridal suite. So beautiful. It was a small wedding, maybe 70 people or less. The staff did a wonderful job; they served appetizers and plated dinner. Very attentive to guest's. Excellent bartender. My mom utilized a partnered dj, limo driver service and shuttle service. Then, their event coordinator, Eva. The coordinator, Eva, deserves her own review- but if you are in need of a coordinator, she went above and beyond for my mother. She could not be happier with her service and compassion provided along the way and day-of event. Thank you, Meyer's Castle for an event we all will be talking about for years to come.

As such an important part of our lives, it was only fitting that she take center stage on our special day. Bonnie was not only our Cat of Honor, but also the bride's bouquet, ring bearer, and even the groom's "cat wife." Her presence made our celebration uniquely personal and unforgettable. From the beautifully decorated gazebo to the elegance of the Oak Room, magic filled the air. Every detail came together to create a wedding that felt as though it had been lifted straight from the pages of a fairy tale. If ever there was a fairytale wedding, this was it. Our coordinator, Eva, was instrumental in bringing our vision to life. Her creativity, guidance, and dedication helped transform our dream into the magical celebration we had always imagined. It was truly a day we will cherish forever.

Golf Course and Driving Range Review-…read more I wish I could give this place 10 stars - that's how wonderful it is. Driving range is open 7 days a week, $5 for a bucket of balls, about 30 balls. Machine takes cash or you can can get a token at the club house. Grass area, roped off so you don't have new people teeing up 15 feet in front of where they should be. Well kept. The putting area is wonderful and can be found just behind the first tee box. Club house opens at 5:30AM in the summer so there are people hitting balls before work! Golf Pro - Matt - is amazing. Great with kids, gives lessons. The course is a 9 hole, executive course with a level of difficulty that is hard to find in NW Indiana. The course itself is narrow with lots of long marshy areas that will eat your ball. The elevation changes are fantastic and again, really rare for this part of Indiana. The course itself is the most well maintained in the area. 9 holes will cost you about $27 with cart. The ranger on the weekends is Wayne and he is such a wonderful, caring person. In passing, I told him I was looking for a specific type of golf ball and the next time I saw him, he had a bunch for me. Wow! The carts are electric and very smooth. Most of the leagues are during the week and in the AM so this is a great place for twilight golf as well. 9 holes typically takes me about an hour 20. Tips - The range is closed Wednesday afternoon until Thursday morning for maintenance. If you are just going to the range, park near the back of the lot.

In addition to an intimate 410-seat thrust stage theater and an art gallery, this facility has a pair of elegant dining rooms for banquets and special events, and also a gift shop featuring handcrafted items. We were participants in a 'group package' which included a hot multi-course lunch followed by a matinee performance of "Ghost." The meal, consisting of lemon rice soup, a choice of Chicken Tetrazzini or Beef Stroganoff, and chocolate cake, exceeded our expectations. Though basic, this 'comfort food' was yummy, attractively plated, and served at just the right temperature. They were a bit parsimonious with the rolls and a basket of crackers (the latter was whisked away as soon as we finished the soup), but otherwise the portions were ample and the servers were genial and attentive. Afterwards, we had time to explore the gift shop and art gallery. The restrooms are immaculate. The theater has comfortable seating with generous legroom and excellent sightlines. Although the scenery and props for "Ghost" were minimal, the performance was so absorbing that we soon became too engrossed to notice the bare-bones setting. We also enjoyed chatting with General Manager Richard, who likes to mingle with the guests. If only the staffs at other fine arts venues were as personable and informative. All in all, it was a perfect day.

Every single family-style meal I've had here has had the same problem: not enough food to go around. People at my table didn't even get their first plate before the kitchen was "out of food." How does that even happen at a banquet hall? And what they brought out as a replacement was a joke--boxed frozen fried shrimp and French fries. Seriously, it felt like they raided a freezer aisle and hoped no one would notice. The guy at the table next to us was allergic to seafood, so all he got to eat was fries. That's beyond unacceptable. If I were the chef, I'd be embarrassed to send people home hungry. I actually had to stop at White Castle on the way home because this place couldn't provide a proper meal. Bottom line: nice venue, but if you actually care about feeding your guests, look somewhere else.

The dessert table was set out so early that that the guests ended up eating them as an appetizer since the real appetizers were no where to be found. We paid for the hall to set up the desserts but my wife ended up rearranging it to look presentable anyway. Should have just kept our money on that. The kitchen did bring out a small amount of random appetizers they somehow found in the kitchen to try to make up for it once they were informed our appetizers had not been served. We originally ordered enough appetizers for everyone to get some so when the replacement appetizers came out, not all of our 135 guests were able to receive one. They did get a plumber out quickly to address the bathroom situation, however, our guests had to endure the mess which ruined some of their dresses. The bartenders were not consistent. One said they were out of something then you went to the other one and they had it a moment later. We paid a required fee for a security guard and saw him for maybe an hour of the reception. The positives: My compliments to the chef and kitchen staff. The chicken and potatoes plated meal was amazing and our guests agreed. The weather was beautiful so we were thankfully able to have our ceremony at the gazebo as planned. The managers answered our questions promptly. They did apologize for the issues we had and that was appreciated, however, did not offer to refund any money and it does not change our experience.
