I was ready to drop this review to two stars, but , you have to remember its Schererville and not Chicago. You just can't rate them on that level. Their website boasts " The finest in banquet facilities" . Again I say, for Schererville, Indiana its probably the best place. It's surprising to find a place with smoking allowed in the main hallway / reception area and as the night draws to its close there is so much smoke its cloudy. They need to install a few fans to circulate air. Another example of the exterior not doing justice to the full breadth and overall size of a venue. I believe they offer 3 banquet rooms, all about the same size. The rooms are nice, nothing much to report back about, still better than say a banquet hall at a golfing club. Food was alright, plain, some might skip it and hit anyone of the restaurants on Indianapolis Blvd. I had the steak option it was overcooked and dry, served with a mushroom - brown gravy and boiled broccoli. A comment by another guest at my table, "it looks as if a plate was handed down a line and each person plopped a helping of food onto the plate, carelessly" Again, for out here, in a small town area it was better than I thought it would be. This reception had bottom shelf alcohol, I swear the bottles said it was alcohol but I couldn't taste any. If anything, the alcohol they used made the cocktails sweet tasting. Something that really stuck out was the care of the servers. There wasn't any. They were polite and quick with serving and removing. However when you come to grab the plates after the main course, please please!!! Grab one plate at a time. These people were stacking them on top of each other right in front of you! How disgusting and outright sloppy. A few times servers dropped dirty forks and spoons. I've never EVER seen this done right off of a table till the other day. Also the careless way the servers made their way through the aisles, they were good about avoiding collisions with people, but careless when putting down plates and paying attention. Thrice my bro got hit in the back and head with serving plates. Pay attention! Then the men's room, why do they have a closet type door for the entrance to the restrooms? Also why are there so few washrooms and positioned in different areas. As the night goes on doors to each banquet hall are left open. So any drunken or attention less person may walk out of the washroom and right into the wrong hall. As long as its open bar throughout, who cares right? For photo's they have a grand chandelier in the center of the main hallway, a pagoda style gazebo out back and a lighted fountain in the front. Bring mosquito repellent during summer months, I was getting eaten alive!

The food was not good and the service was nonexistent. This venue really needs some improvement.

As such an important part of our lives, it was only fitting that she take center stage on our special day. Bonnie was not only our Cat of Honor, but also the bride's bouquet, ring bearer, and even the groom's "cat wife." Her presence made our celebration uniquely personal and unforgettable. From the beautifully decorated gazebo to the elegance of the Oak Room, magic filled the air. Every detail came together to create a wedding that felt as though it had been lifted straight from the pages of a fairy tale. If ever there was a fairytale wedding, this was it. Our coordinator, Eva, was instrumental in bringing our vision to life. Her creativity, guidance, and dedication helped transform our dream into the magical celebration we had always imagined. It was truly a day we will cherish forever.

The ceremony was outside at the gazebo and the reception inside in the Oak Room. It does not even need much decor, the space itself is so pretty. We utilized the downstairs bridal suite. So beautiful. It was a small wedding, maybe 70 people or less. The staff did a wonderful job; they served appetizers and plated dinner. Very attentive to guest's. Excellent bartender. My mom utilized a partnered dj, limo driver service and shuttle service. Then, their event coordinator, Eva. The coordinator, Eva, deserves her own review- but if you are in need of a coordinator, she went above and beyond for my mother. She could not be happier with her service and compassion provided along the way and day-of event. Thank you, Meyer's Castle for an event we all will be talking about for years to come.

Every single family-style meal I've had here has had the same problem: not enough food to go around. People at my table didn't even get their first plate before the kitchen was "out of food." How does that even happen at a banquet hall? And what they brought out as a replacement was a joke--boxed frozen fried shrimp and French fries. Seriously, it felt like they raided a freezer aisle and hoped no one would notice. The guy at the table next to us was allergic to seafood, so all he got to eat was fries. That's beyond unacceptable. If I were the chef, I'd be embarrassed to send people home hungry. I actually had to stop at White Castle on the way home because this place couldn't provide a proper meal. Bottom line: nice venue, but if you actually care about feeding your guests, look somewhere else.

The dessert table was set out so early that that the guests ended up eating them as an appetizer since the real appetizers were no where to be found. We paid for the hall to set up the desserts but my wife ended up rearranging it to look presentable anyway. Should have just kept our money on that. The kitchen did bring out a small amount of random appetizers they somehow found in the kitchen to try to make up for it once they were informed our appetizers had not been served. We originally ordered enough appetizers for everyone to get some so when the replacement appetizers came out, not all of our 135 guests were able to receive one. They did get a plumber out quickly to address the bathroom situation, however, our guests had to endure the mess which ruined some of their dresses. The bartenders were not consistent. One said they were out of something then you went to the other one and they had it a moment later. We paid a required fee for a security guard and saw him for maybe an hour of the reception. The positives: My compliments to the chef and kitchen staff. The chicken and potatoes plated meal was amazing and our guests agreed. The weather was beautiful so we were thankfully able to have our ceremony at the gazebo as planned. The managers answered our questions promptly. They did apologize for the issues we had and that was appreciated, however, did not offer to refund any money and it does not change our experience.

A week or so before the event, I called to confirm, and give them the final count. Because I had rented a banquet room, I specifically requested 5 round tables with 8 place settings at each table. 2 days before the event, They called and told me I could only have 4 tables of 10. The day of the event, I find out they have moved my event out of the banquet room, into this tiny little room way in the back corner of the restaurant. In place of round tables, there were rectangles!!! When I told the manager that I had rented the banquet room, he LIED right to my face and told me I didn't. To keep this short, they switched rooms, lied to me, never told me about a price increase, and/ or overcharged me. I spent extra money on 5 floral arrangements but only had 4 tables. This horrible little room was so crowded you couldn't get to and from your seat easily to visit the buffet. It was a complete failure on Teibel's part.

He tried to work with the facility, but they said they only had one option...but it was also something we are allergic too. We thought they were going to work something out in the months before the wedding, but when it came time to eat dinner, we were offered nothing. No food we could eat except the green beans. What made it worse was that the serving personnel couldn't care less. They had attitude. Said they would check on things and never came back then got snappy when we followed up. They said they would send someone out, but no one came. The chef apparently came out to all the tables to check on things, but not about us specifically. We were seated at the mother of the groom's table. Next to the father of the groom's table and the parent's of the bride's table. We were the very last to be served. They served the room, starting at the outer, furthest from the head table. The bar tender was extremely rude. Yes, the bar was closed, but we had a kid who needed something to drink. She did end up serving the pop, but did so with anger. On tables of 10 people, they had one pitcher of water and refilled it once only. For the whole night. And this was NOT just our table. NO tables had more than one refill on the one pitcher. To top it off no one was attending the bathrooms. The trash cans were overflowing and there were no towels for your hands by 10:00 and we had the room until 12. The men's bathroom was apparently worst. I absolutely would not suggest this to anyone. Classless.
