I am also not sure if it was the owner or manager that was working when we went in, but she was royally rude. While it's not typically a place you would find yourself window-shopping (due to location) when I happened upon The Balloon Store last Saturday, it was loads of fun! This store sells a few stuffed animals and a little giftware, but overall remains true to their name. While looking around, there was a couple purchasing a near-life-size Buzz Lightyear balloon. Needless to say, I was impressed. So here's the balloon low down: I love balloons!! I think that shiny, elegant or funny, foil balloons can add such a presence to an event. From giant Y.E.L.P. in red at an Elite Event, to the 3 foot tall silver foil 007 balloons I bought from The Balloon Store for my James Bond themed event. My friends, you have got to add some balloons into your lives! Peoples faces just light up when they see balloons, they are airy, and up-lifting. They add dimension and depth to a space, and serious "oh snap!" to your selfies and pics. The Balloon Store is located right on Calgary Trail, so it is easy to access. They have a super fantastic selection of all kinds of balloons, and, I really, REALLY appreciate their knowledgeable and helpful staff. Seriously, I just can not take the incompetence of the employees that work at Party City - along with the long line ups, and the amount of times I have received half inflated balloons (that deflate in a day because they aren't properly sealed).... Rrrrr. And I digress... Yes, you are going to pay about 10-20% more for a balloon bouquet at The Balloon Store than you would at Party City, but trust me, please trust me that it is sooooo worth it! You get what you pay for, and I would way rather pay a few dollars more for quality, helpfulness, peace and kid-free quiet, and the knowledge that my money is going to a locally owned business and not a giant corporate chain. Worst experience ever.... I asked for a special arrangement for my son's thirteenth birthday. I drove into Edmonton via highway on a terrible winter day to pick out balloons and have a spectacular arrangement made. First I was greeted as though I was an interruption to their day. Next I was told that many items were out of stock. Finally, I picked out a number one and a number 3 to make 13 as well as some latex happy birthday balloons. The owner/balloon designer started to arrange the balloons with the 1 on top of the 3. I asked if she would please place them together....Big mistake for I had ideas of my own and they did not agree with hers! She basically wrapped up my almost $50 purchase and said you can put them together yourself. I drove all the way home and did just that. I would not ever go there again--Party City here I come! read more

We purchased XOXO for an engagement party and when we got to the venue to set up, one of the "O"s had started to deflate. The party was not until Sunday so we had to pick up on Saturday due to them being closed on Sunday. I had emailed the store once we realized the "O" was deflating and the owner emailed me back. She apologized for the issue and offered to go in to the shop on the Sunday to get us a new one. How fantastic to arrange this for us! Upon meeting them at the shop on the Sunday morning for the replacement they had run out of gold "O"s so she gave us 2 new "0"s as replacements. Such great service. Thank you so very much!
