Bacon, egg, avacado and hot sauce on a plain bagel
    Breyanna A.

I ordered a bacon, egg, avocado, and hot sauce on a plain bagel, which is my usual order at bagel stores except this one was the best one yet. To start, normally bagel stores just put a fried egg on your sandwich but no, bagel tree exceeds expectations and gives you a nice big fluffy scrambled egg! Additionally, the bagel was super soft and really good consistency. I also loved that they put the avacado on the bottom instead of the top this way the egg and bacon doesnt just slide all out of the bagel!

Located in a nondescript shopping center just off Route 23 in Franklin Township, The Bagel Tree is a no-frills bagel and coffee shop offering a tasty selection of bagels and traditional brunch cuisine including breakfast sandwiches, omelettes, deli sandwiches, and salads. The Bagel Tree offers traditional bagels -- plain, egg, poppy, sesame, onion, garlic, salt, whole-grain, pumpernickel, and marble rye -- as well as a handful of innovative varieties, such as cinnamon raisin, blueberry, and two seasonal flavors from a rotating list of customer favorites -- jalapeño, sundried tomato basil, spinach garlic, chocolate chip, cheddar, vegetable, cranberry, french toast, and banana nut. My dining companion and I recently stopped in for a quick lunch while passing through the area on a recent Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, cleanliness of the dining area, the variety of options on the menu, and the friendliness of the staff. The menu is relatively limited -- with a handful of omelettes, a dozen sandwiches that run the gamut from single-meat staples to more innovative options, and a few salads. While most diners were ordering iterations of breakfast sandwiches featuring the local staple Taylor Ham, we opted for the more traditional lunch selections. I ordered the breaded chicken cutlet, pounded thin and served with bbq sauce and frizzled onions, served on an everything bagel. My companion ordered the Smokehouse Panini, comprised of turkey, smoked gouda cheese, bacon, avocado, and tomato pressed on rye bread. Both of us were very happy with these selections -- made to order and served hot -- although my companion indicated her panini was missing something salty. Perhaps a pickle? The real star of the meal for me was the tasty starch-dipped french fries served alongside the Smokehouse Panini and generously shared by my dining companion. We'd definitely stop back next time we're in the area.

    Where's the cream cheese?!

I recommend egg and cheese on a bagel here. The lines are especially long on Saturday mornings.

Ummm hello? This is my new jam when I'm in town. What?! Real food, seasoned perfectly, and fall off…read morethe bone. And wait wait, I can get plantains, near Sussex?! I've been blessed ! Olluco offers homemade bbq, and some extras that will make you happy. The prices are decent too. For me, traveling with the kids is always tough because eventually you need to find real protein.....they can't survive on pizza and hot dogs for very long. We came here and got the chicken and Peruvian fried rice. The rice had great flavor and lots of veggies(peppers, zucchini, etc...). The chicken was seasoned PERFECTLY and so tender, like even the breast was juicy! We also got ribs and they were fall off the bone!! Yes finally, ribs that are seasons with a delicious rub(no need for sauce) and also fall off the bone tender. Yummo!! The place is very shack-esc lol...there's no decor and maybe 2 tables and a bar too. You can dine in but really it's more of a takeout joint, and that's OK! You can also grab drinks from the cold case. No fountain unfortunately. This is my new stop, I HOPE they stay in business so please give them a try my local Sussex friends!

a not-so-hidden gem! it's not every day you find authentic afro-latin food in sussex county…read more if you want to support a small minority-owned business, this is absolutely the spot for you. the place itself is cute and quaint, with big windows that let the sunshine pour in while you people-watch and enjoy your food. the staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and our server, chelsea, was an absolute angel. she stayed on top of everything and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time. we started with the loaded nachos with jerk chicken and OMG--the portion was huge, decadent, and absolutely delicious. we also got two iced coffees that were so good we had to get refills. the real stars of the show though? the catfish and grits and the catfish sandwich. TO. DIE. FOR. grits can be very hit or miss, but these extra cheesy grits were genuinely the best we've ever had (and we've had a LOT). and let me talk about the fried catfish for a second--it was perfectly battered and fried while still being super tender inside. i genuinely had to stop myself from audibly moaning at the table because it was that good. 10/10 for the service, food, and ambiance. you'd be silly not to give this place a try if you're in the area, especially since their menu has something for everyone. i already can't wait to come back and try more dishes. thank you again, chelsea--we absolutely loved you!
