takes forever to get call back.. still waiting on follow up appointment 5 months later

Absolutely unprofessional staff. They called to move my appointment but didn't leave an alternate time. When I expressed my frustration and asked to speak to a supervisor they refused to reschedule or answer my calls. I ended up getting an appointment at 1pm. It apparently that's just when I'll be there and my procedure will by at 2:10 but the staff said that's not even necessarily the case. At the end of the call today I'll have to come at 1pm and got lecturered about not letting my driver leave. They said I could be done anywhere between 2pm and 4pm but that all depends on how things go with my procedure and how I do with anesthesia. I've had this done before and had no issues and was in and out in almost an hour when I did this at the Houston medical center. I hear over and over again this doctor is amazing it's just a shame the office staff is such a nightmare but as you can see from other reviews it just seems to be how this office runs. I almost feel like I should double check my will so fingers crossed I actually leave here without any major medical issues. If you could rate less than 1 star I would. Update*** I was able to speak to the office manager today and she claims my appointment will be closer to the 1pm time but that's not what my appointment reads in their own app. Long story short she essentially considers this not an issue anymore because I have an appointment. She stressed several times that she already took time off during vacation to call me but honestly had the staff not been an issue she wouldn't have had to get involved at all. I did also file an OCR complaint. From what I gathered today this behavior won't be changing and I'll just have to decide if this doctor is really worth all this trouble. Below is what I filed the OCR for the lack of concern this office has when working with disabled veterans. Issue with retaliation from scheduler Penelope when told my appt was not going to be possible in AM. She informed me she had a 1pm appt and I informed her to schedule that and let me speak with supervisor to confirm. She then refused to schedule and told me she'd let the office manager do it. I later found out after reaching out to the providers I see there that the office manager was on vacation. I asked Dr S asst to inform them to schedule me for the 1pm and she again refused. The office manager told me she was on vacation. Penelope had told the office manager I had used profanity which was untrue. On several occasions I noted my disability of anxiety as well as being in Houston to assist my parents with their cancer appointments for Chemo. I was eventually contacted and told they would move my appointment to that day at 2:10 as there was no longer a 1pm appt. I also had to contact the VA about possibly moving my provider as I was concerned about my care at this facility. I believe I was treated inappropriately especially after noting with Penelope my disability status and concerns personally of being in Houston to assist family. read more

This is one of those cases where you almost feel bad for the skilled provider, with their office staff being so inept. I had appointments with Dr Hynes and Datta and both were professional and skilled. Dr Datta did a procedure on my back that went fine. At that time as you can see from the plethora of notices here, the office staff was worst-in-class. NO staff would have been an improvement. I can only imagine the thousands of wasted hours patients spent trying to reach them on voicemail. Hopefully they all found more suitable positions where customer service isn't important. Maybe toll booth attendants? However recently I think they're part of HF now, and I suspect at least all of THOSE problems are fixed. read more

Was referred to come here by my orthopedic doctor . The building is quite big and bright which is a nice feel for a doctors office . I was greeted very quickly after I was told to take a number. Since I was a new patient there was a lot of forms to fill out . My appointment was at 11:30 thou I was seen at 12 noon. My doctor was extremely helpful and the staff there was kind as well . I am not qualified to rate the professional staff but the office staff is in great need of retraining. Phones are rarely answered. Messages are not returned. Forms are not filed with insurance companies. Medicine is not called in to my pharmacy or sent to the wrong place. The patient advocate never answers the phone or returns a call. Dr. Solis' staff is the worst. I dont mind waiting for the doctor but the receptionist forgets I am in the exam room. If I wasnt in between procedures I would go elsewhere. Those folks dont realize, or care, that the patients are in great pain. read more

My husband went to back center in Aug of 2023, had to see physicans asst. first then saw Dr Hynes he came highly recommended he set up surgery for for Jan 2024, We had numerous appointments with everyone on surgery team. When you call office to check in they leave you on hold for 2 hours before being disconnected. If you ask for office mgr she is in and out of office you never get to speak with anyone. Surgery was for 1/17/2024 on 1/16/2024 at 6:35 pm we rec'd phone call surgery was cancelled but she would call back in morning with new date today is 4/30/2024 haven't heard anything called and as stated get the same run around I've read that before first health took over was much better. Now we're trying to get another Doctor but need previous test results. How long do you think that will take? LOL! I hope insurance will understand my Husband is in Pain every single day. my husband suffered months with back pain which radiated into his hip and leg. they did several injections over 5 months, which only gave him little to no relief. Dr Hynes performed my lumbar fusion on August 5, 2019. He and his staff were very thorough, patient with all of my questions, and super informative about my options. I have degenerative disc disease and went through back pain for over 20 years before I had an L3-S1 fusion. Lots of follow up and xrays to make sure everything is healing properly. I couldn't be happier with how my surgery got rid of my pain immediately. Also, it made me an inch taller! While I have lost a lot of flexibility (its my own fault becuase I don't stretch), I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat. I love the B.A.C.K. Center! When I went to Deuk Spine Institute, they suggested facet joint injections. I didn't want a bandaid- I wanted it FIXED. Dr. Hynes did just that. None of this would have been an option had not my insurance been stellar....that is why I waited 8 years in having the fusion. Bad insurance in 2012. Sad, but all too common in the US. read more

Took my wife there on 11/14/23 to get an appointment for a shot because she has Spinal Stenosis PA Emily Finn said someone would call in 2 weeks we are still waiting . Scott T 2 reviews I wished I had of read the reviews before I ever made the first appointment. Trust me, if you read a bad review, it's true. Yesterday will be my last appointment. They accused me of taking fentanyl at my prior appointment, but when the specimen was retested in a lab, it came back negative. I offered to go directly to Quest labs to confirm the results, or to take a polygraph test, which would have cost me $500 out of pocket, but was told it wouldn't make a difference. They don't put patient labels on the specimen containers, which is against policies in any hospital or lab. You just urinate in a cup and place it on the counter. You can't get these people to admit their mistakes. Unanswered phone calls for weeks, not days, weeks. Lost medical records, canceled appointments, false accusations, etc... It was bad enough before Health First, but has went downhill even further. Some of the rudest, most miserable people I've dealt with, and I've been an ER Nurse for 20+ years. Good luck attempting to reach anyone by phone, or the patient portal, or even carrier pigeon. On one visit, I had to show one of their techs how to take blood pressures. She just kept taking them until there was a reading she was happy with because they were all too high, as was my heart rate. The original vital signs were 180/92 and I was tachycardic with a heart rate of 110. Elevated vital signs can be a symptom of several things, including pain. You just don't keep taking them until you get a normal reading. They also sent in a prescription to my pharmacy for a narcotic that I had not been prescribed or taking for months. I called it to their attention, and was told to bring it in so they could count and destroy it. So, even though I caught it, and it was their mistake, I had to make a trip to their office the next day. They wouldn't let me just wait until my next appointment which was only 3 weeks away. Never an apology for any of their shortcomings, but they are quick to treat people like lowlifes. Hopefully, I can save others from such poor treatment. Dr Datta was great with the epidurals, and his staff were far more pleasant and professional than the miserable crew led by Dr Morris Solis. But the chances of getting anyone in the entire building to answer, or return a phone call is slim to none. My pharmacy has been attempting to contact Dr Morris Solis's office for 3 days because they made another error with a prescription. They won't admit it though. Trust me. It's frustrating enough to deal with the constant pain after spinal injuries and surgery. Being treated with such incompetence is aggravating, to say the least. I had an appointment on 3/3/2023. Unfortunately my MRI has been denied five times, which is an insurance issue not an issue I have with the BACK Center. However, i have been waiting for my contact there to call me back and it's been almost four weeks. I have talked to several (rude) people and they keep telling me they are passing on the message and she will get back to me in 24-48 hours, and there is nothing more they can do. I am still waiting and still calling. They are a disgrace and evidently couldn't care less about their patients. Damien Velez and Dr. Morris-Solis are excellent (haven't met Dr. Hynes yet) but they are slow to return calls, customer service is rude, takes 2-4 weeks to see provider to discuss epidural, 2-4 weeks for scheduling to call to make epidural appts and 3-4 weeks for actual appt. If you're in pain, seek help elsewhere. I certainly am. read more

I would not recommend the back center I'm literally going to go somewhere else they had scheduled me for surgery but I was supposed to have a pre-op appointment within Greg first they waited to the last minute to call and cancel her appointment on the 22nd they waited till the One day before to cancel my appointment with her but couldn't reschedule me till the 5th of March the day before surgery then they said they couldn't see me the day before surgery so then they turn around and hang up call me back and ask me can I come tomorrow for surgery ???? I said what are they crazy You say you can't see me without seeing Anne Greg first... So then they say they're going to call me back nobody calls back say they're going to speak to the supervisor they still never call back I drive all the way there to Melbourne from St cloud nobody in the whole place could speak to me they give me a number to the scheduling department I call it leave four messages nobody calls back for 2 days then I call and speak to the front desk she tells me there's no voicemail that I'm a liar and that I can't leave a message then all of a sudden wow out of the blue I get a phone call back they tell me I called and canceled the surgery myself which I never did I think this is God telling me that this is definitely not the right place to deal with or to have do my surgery very very very scary and every person I see walk in there is either in pain or crippled.... Needless to say I'm never going back there they are so unprofessional they have no communication I got four different phone calls from four different people that have no idea what's going on ridiculous ridiculous ridiculous on top of that they were supposed to do epidural injections first to buy me some time well they totally forgot about that and just scheduled me for surgery then all of a sudden cancel things and then say I'm the one that canceled the surgery just unbelievable truly unbelievable so I am not going there I don't dare have them do anything to me I've heard people in the office crying and complaining that they will not give them no pain medicine in their worse pain now than they were before and nobody will even talk to them read more

Dr. Billys and his PA Casey are incredible. I had three ruptured lumbar discs and severe stenosis. He performed a rather new procedure called Coflex almost immediately. In just 3 months I was walking without assistance and without pain. Still a ways to go with my balance until i can play golf, but the results are amazing. A great Dr. an incredible PA. If by chance they are busy and you have to wait a bit, it's no worse than any other Dr. but here it is absolutely worth the wait ! However the scheduler for Dr. Billys is horrid. read more

This place is the worst, no matter which doctor you are seeing it's always the same excuses that they've running behind, you go to your appointment on time and end up waiting for 2+ hours before taken to a room just to wait even more. As to the medical attention that you need, they just prolong it by treating you appointment after appointment without even taking care of the problem. Have been going to The BACK Center for 5 years. They initially helped with my accident, but the past 2 years have been ridiculous. They give me my Prolia shot for my Osteoporosis which I have every 6 months. Today was my appt. day for this shot. My appointment was for a month ago, but they called and had to cancel it and rescheduled my shot for today. I had to pay a co-pay of $50.00, to get a shot. Well, because the staff did not get a pre-authorization I was unable to receive the shot. My appt was 3:45, I walked out at 5:30 with no shot. If you are considering The Back Center I would suggest you re-think their services and find someone else. I will be. I always wait at least an hour to see a PA. read more

I went there for sciatica/ stenosis pain. I had two nerve blocking injections by Dr. Morris. It was uncomfortable but not too bad. They promised to call me the next day to follow up, there was no call. I was in pain so I called, no answer, I left a message to call me back, no call back. I called again in the afternoon, no call back. I was in pain so I called the next day, no answer, left voicemail, no call back. They were quick to get my money, not very professional. I didn't get a good feel about their skill level. They seem revenue hungry. read more

Ap Karen Bransky is a horrible person. She does not belong in a professional office. Dr Data is a terrific surgeon, however his office staff more often than not seem incompetent. When asking questions about surgery procedures, we were told to refer to the surgical packet we received. We did not receive one at the initial consult, or at the follow up to schedule surgery, nor after we informed them we did not receive a copy. Until less than two weeks before surgery when we had to go in and get a copy of procedure, numbers to call etc. Twice we were waiting over 4 hours for an apt that we were on time to. I would not recommend this place if business simply because you do not get the tools you need to stay informed on how to preced, they check you in, take your money, and then claim they didn't know you were waiting. It's unbelievable how disorganized and unprofessional this office is. There are nice ladies, and APs, and the Dr is nice, but it makes you Austin if you're safety and health isn't in jeopardy when they so obviously confuse the order of operations and you don't get paperwork you're supposed to get, Apts we're regularly rescheduled for multiple reasons. On a scale of 1-10 is give it a 4. The surgeon I would rate at a 9. All the surgeons here are top notch. But their support staff is grossly lacking. read more

I went to the Back Center in 2010 with sciatica and stenosis of lower back. After an MRI I had two devices installed by Dr. Hynes that were supposed to widen vertebrae space to relieve pressure on nerves (looked like little jacks). Surgery and recovery went well, but there was still lumbar pain which got worse in the next 12 months. So, I went to Dr. Deuk in Viera who quickly recommended removal of these devices and fusion of the entire lumbar. Now finding four ruptured disks the previous surgery only tried to correct two disks. Dr. Deuk did the fusion and that reduced all sciatic pain. Needless to say he had a few comments about my previous surgery at BACK. I would not recommend ever getting those "jacks" installed for spinal pain. read more

I have been seen at The Back Center for a little over a year now. Dr. Hynes and Damien are two of the very best I have ever encountered after seeing many doctors over the last 10 years for my back issues. I did wait about 30 minutes the very first time I saw Dr. Hynes, however, with that said, he spent an entire hour with me going thoroughly through every test and procedure he had ordered for me prior to being seen by him. Obviously the wait was worth it. My current visits have a less than 10 min. wait prior to being seen. I had extensive back surgery in April and had a few issues with recovery at which point everyone was attentive and I received fantastic care. I would highly recommend them. I also see Dr. Zaidi for pain management. I see him every 3rd month. It is usually an hour wait. But with that said, I have many allergies and Dr. Zaidi is meticulous about my medications and the possible side effects and co-mingling with other meds I already take. Am I happy about waiting an hour to see him, not really, but I understand it and quickly accept it because he is so thorough when he he sees me. I also see Amanda, his PA, the other 2 months when I don't see Dr. Zaidi. The wait for her is usually 10 mins. or so. Amanda is great at what she does. She is very caring and very thorough in her review of your case. All in all, yes I do have to wait sometimes, but I am finally getting the correct diagnosis and care that I have needed for 10 years, so I can accept waiting a little longer than I'd like on some days. I can't express strongly enough how readily and easily that I recommend Dr. Hynes and Dr. Zaidi and their staffs. The most knowledgeable and caring staff in the area. I called this office three days in a row trying to get an appointment with Dr. Datta upon the advice of my orthopod. I left three voicemails and received no return calls. I also left a voicemail with the nurse advocate and received no call back. I filled in a questionnaire on the website for new patient appointments and got a return email saying "Julie no longer works in this office, please address you concerns to Sarah at blah, blah, blah.", which I did. Nothing! This office has some serious problems. I wonder if its highly regarded physicians know what is happening. Don't even make an appointment! Save yourself the frustration. My husband has been a patient here for at least 3 years and we've had problem after problem after problem. It is not run professionally from an administrative aspect. It is pretty close to impossible to speak to the person that you need. No one ever answers their phone, you always seem to have to leave a message for a person who who will give it to another person who will give it to another who may give it to the intended recipient. This has happened on more than one occasion and we never received a call back. NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE. Not even the patient advocates! There are no quick appointments everything is scheduled far out. My husband did his part and scheduled his appointment last month for a med refill. They scheduled him with the P.A. He received call reminders e-mails and texts from the back center. Today, he missed work specifically for this appointment, drove 45 minutes in Pain only to be told that he had to see a different doctor for the refill. A doctor who was there, in the building and still refused to refill his prescription when this was their administrative error not a patient error. My husband received an x-ray for an area that has caused him great pain. For MONTHS he went back every month for appointments and NO ONE could read his x-ray or tell him what was wrong. 7 months later.... SEVEN MONTHS!!!!! He got someone to look it over. Then he Had an MRI done, went in for an appointment and they did not have the images. Went in the next month and they STILL did not have the images, luckily my husband brought our copy of the images for them to view. They are completely unorganized with their records, their appointments etc. Our insurance has paid them out hundreds of thousands of dollars over time not to mention our out of pocket over the years and yet you are just a number. I have always felt as though when we walk through the door all they see are money signs. Not a person. It is all about getting as much money as they can from you and your insurance company. It is certainly NOT about patient care. I seriously questions the ethics of how this facility is managed and ran. Although we like our specific doctor, his nurse assistant and our P.A. the facility as a whole is extremely poorly managed. "There are just to many hands in the candy dish." I have had the same experience with Dr. Hynes and his staff! Words cannot express the difference between the Back Center and the doctors that Worker's Comp. originally sent me to!! I would recommend everyone who has a back injury to get evaluated here; if not your first choice at least as a second opinion! Dr Hynes and PA Damian Velez are compassionate, reliable, trustworthy and true experts in their field! Dr. Hynes still does research and recently developed a new procedure that he is teaching nationally and internationally! Please don't go to the back center. You can never contact your surgeon for any reason. I am on medically needy Medicaid . with that the back center requires a card. But if you are medically needy you don't receive a card just a print out and the back center will not accept that. I had to have this visit because I was told it was a pre op visit. They made me wait an hour past my appointment and I had to pay $110 dollars just to be told they didn't know why I was there . I'm on a fixed income and don't have $110 dollars for my preoperative visit which I already paid for. Plus I have a pain clinic appointment visit I'll have to pay $110 for. My medication costs $ 400 a month I do not have this and don't know what to do. Any idea what to do ? read more

Dr. Jared is a great doctor I've never had an issue of waiting times. His PA Sean, is top-notch. I went from my first appointment to surgery in less than a month. prior to that I've seen several doctors who just shoved me aside. Dr. Jared looked at my MRIs for about 5 minutes showed me exactly what was wrong and said I needed surgery. Follow up care so far has been excellent. read more

I am not a patient here but I've been here many times bringing my neighbor for either appointments or procedures. I can't believe the amount of time you are forced to wait to see a provider and with that it's rarely even a doctor. We waited over three hours to see a nurse practitioner and that's the average. I don't think there was a time we waited less than two hours to see a provider. The other issue I have is that while you are waiting for either an appointment or have a procedure done they force the person driving to wait in the building, you must not leave .... I brought my laptop to get work done while waiting for a procedure to be done on a friend (expected wait time 3 to 4 hours) only to find out they do not provide any Wi-Fi for any of their patients or family or friends that are waiting. Nowhere in the building. It's supposed to be a state of the art facility but it's still functioning in the last century tech wise. They evidently do not take the consideration of their patients and family/friends into consideration with many factors .... I doubt I would ever come here for my medical needs due to the lack of respect/consideration they have for their patients and family members and their evident lack to bring the practice into the 21st century. Worst pain center ever. Save your money and go some place else. I was seen for 8 minutes. I was given two choices 1) epidural shots. 2) surgery. Plus drugs. I had to ask for PT (which is working wonders for me) They just kept pushing medication on me. The rush you in and out and, try cancelling. That took me over 1/2 hr and three phone calls. This place is the WORST. Stay away. Ive spent 5 months dealing with a PA that only prescribes injections at 4 grand a pop! You won't see a doc until they are sure your insurance will pay for surgery. The front office is terrible. There is rarely a smile from anyone you deal with and even these front office folks will never call you back,. Total miserable experience and you will wait 2 months for an appointment to just see a PA who will keep you busy getting expensive injections.
