The staff was very helpful and did a great job explaining different techniques on throwing the Axe. Very safe environment. Was a lot of fun.

This time we climbed to the second floor to find a table at what I would describe as the most inviting bar in the South due to the eclectic decor and the appearance of the bar itself with dozens of upside down bottles hanging from the ceiling that at first I thought they were there just to decorate the place but nooo! they actually poured the specialty bourbon we ordered which BTW was very good and was only 90 proof which was a very nice match to my Yingling, we spent about two hours there and not because the service was slow but because we were having a good time, at times was a little loud but my out of town friends truly enjoyed the kind of place, they said that next time they come to town they would like to come back to the very same table. The conversation and good times is what kept me from taking a picture of the dishes I ordered the Cajun Pasta, was absolutely delicious and will order again the next time I go back, wife ordered the Pecan pork chops and said it was made with her cravings in mind I won't be waiting for out of towners to come in order to go back, this has become my most trusted and preferred Southern restaurant in Chucktown/Summerville area, no questions and way better than any distant second best that we have been, make it 8 stars! Our server was Cameron and she is a charming young lady that makes every effort to comply with your most demanding requests same as previously served in the lower level by another extraordinary server by the name of Sophie, their smiles compliment the flavors and drinks

Food came quickly (table of 6). One of the kids meals was forgotten and had to be re-fired but nbd- happens to the best of us. Chicken tenders were real chicken so loved that. The Caesar was delicious and added on blackened salmon which was also great. Will definitely visit again in the future!

My husband and I came here on the first night we moved to SC from out of state. I ordered the smoked wings w/signature dry rub and a side salad. The shrimp had a very strong, fishy smell that was honestly off-putting, and the flavor matched. It almost seemed like the addition of wine was an attempt to mask the issue rather than enhance the dish. The grits were also disappointing--lumpy and lacking the smooth, creamy texture you'd expect. That said, not everything missed the mark. My coworkers ordered the chicken salad, chicken wrap with sweet potato fries , blackened chicken pasta, and bruschetta, and all of those dishes were absolutely delicious and well prepared. They definitely helped redeem the overall experience and show the kitchen is still capable of putting out great food. Adri was our server, and she was an absolute delight--a total gem. She never missed a beat and was completely on top of everything. I also appreciated the convenience of the location. I parked across the street in the garage, which was well lit, safe, and very close. There's plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, which adds to the appeal. I'm hoping this was just an off day, because Montreux has been a favorite in the past. I'd love to see the shrimp and grits return to the quality they were once known for. I would change the name because the name suggests they have oysters only and it turns out there is more, not a whole lot but enough for a non oysterholic to come in and have something to eat while you chug an ale or one of the shots with a slimy thing in it I got to try a shot of something that tasted like bloody Mary's mix with an oyster inside, I felt the slimy thing going down the hatch and later ordered a dozen or so oysters Parmesan, cooked taste a little like scallops, not bad and I could go back and try something else The calamari was ok, not as great as I can make them if I had a fryer with a thermostat, the batter was a little too thick and I tend to like them with a see through batter not a filler, it was crunchy ok but maybe a little overcooked and not a lot of people know that calamari should be flash fried for about a minute and if you go beyond that is like the Michelin man The place is fun and be prepared for a loud environment because it is small but go with an open mind and it is a nice different experience I will go back and try their fish and chips

Walking up it doesn't seem that big but once you go in, it has a lot more space than I anticipated. Moreover, its very clean with a well-stocked bar and enough wait staff to maintain quick turnarounds for food and drinks. That said my waitress was a bit slow and odd but she was nice. As for the food the burger was pretty good. I noticed it wasn't overcooked while a little under seasoned. The toppings of lettuce and tomato were fresh and the fries.... they were fries, nothing special. I absolutely loved the pretzel as it was moist and chewy with nice chunks of salt clinging to dear life on the pretzel. I'm not sure about the sauces as the only sauce I like is a beer cheese sauce. I guess the objective is to buy a beer to enjoy with the pretzel? Regardless the queso and honey mustard sauces where average. I'd tweak this, but that's just me. As for the beverages, they were fine. My bourbon and lime was good and the chilled Tito's shots were perfect while being none to costly. As for the ambiance, there are literally tvs of all sizes everywhere. I don't believe there's a seat in the house that doesn't have a good view and sports were on everywhere. Also the people were very nice and my table made friends with the table next to us, giving it that home town feel. Overall I didn't try much on the menu, but the food I did try was decent, but not great. Then again, this is a pub so focus on the drinks and friends while watching sports and everything will be alright. I'll be back one day as I think this is a decent place to stop by for some suds after a hard day's work.

I was immediately met outside by a child advocate, apparently, trying to raise money for poor children with backpacks and toys and whatnot. She was actually really nice, but probably not the best place to set up shop, and try to take advantage of people who have over consumed on their way out. Sort of surprised that the owner/management let that happen right out front their doors. So after buying a $74 backpack for a needy child, apparently, I made my way in through the double doors. There was a younger hostess and I asked her if I could sit at the bar. She was super soft-spoken and hard to understand, but I could understand her gestures when she nodded "yes". Made my way to the bar, and had a seat. All they were playing was some lame a** soccer, and I think tennis? I asked my bartender if this is what they normally play, and she told me it's a sports bar, and they always play all sports. Well, I don't watch sports, it's too woke, but in that sense if there's no contact, it's not a sport. So essentially I was watching two different versions of sissy ball. I told her, or rather asked about their viewing schedule, and I noticed horse racing on a TV across the restaurant, and she was nice enough to put it on one of the TVs behind the bar, so once again after a brief period, I was able to reacquire remasculation. Pfff "sports".. Anyways, her name was Taylor. And she's one tough chick. Super down to earth, good with banter, quick witted, and she can dish some ish out if she needs to. Everything that makes a strong bartender. While on that note, the other two bartenders that helped me in between were Nadyne and Kaitlyn. I only browsed through a few of these reviews, But I'm telling you, they are on their A game. They all function cohesively as a unit, constantly pay attention, and constantly check on their clientele. Sort of a lost art these days. The locals there are pretty cool also. But after all this is the south, what do you really expect? That's why I stay in this area! So let's get to the food. If you follow my reviews you know I'm on a no-carb kick again, so I ordered the "28 day aged Ribeye".... If you know me, and you know how and what I cook, grill and smoke, you would know that I'm on top of my game. Before I go any further I had two different bartenders ask me if I wanted A1 steak sauce or anything, and my reply was "Well, I sure as hell hope not". If you're buying a ribeye, aged or not, you shouldn't need anything extra as far as seasoning and flavor goes. Is it 28 days aged? I want to say I doubt it. Did it need more seasoning, and should I have taken the advice of two different bartenders of getting steak sauce? Probably so. But I have a solemn oath to beef, that I will not desecrate it in any type of sauce, no matter how it's seasoned. That being said, it wasn't seasoned the best. I actually glanced around the bar for salt and pepper but didn't see any, but I just ate it. For a ribeye, it wasn't super tender, so I tried cutting it long wise to make it more tender which actually helped a bit. But this is a sports bar, not a steakhouse, so what do you really expect? It wasn't horrible, but I can't wait to have a real ribeye or prime rib from an actual steakhouse. It came with mushrooms, and it was supposed to come with potatoes, but like I said, carbs. But Taylor offered me options for different sides, so I went with the Caesar salad and broccoli. I kept the menu in case I wanted to order some wings to go, and I didn't, and damn it I wish I did. Because I'm already hungry, so trust your gut and get some food to go! Place was pretty clean, nice setup, all the staff were top notch, even the bathroom was nice. I would definitely absolutely go there again the next time I'm here, but I would probably order wings instead of the steak. It did have nice grill marks though! All in all, great experience, I left satisfied, and the staff here really does make sure your experience is exactly what you want. Solid four stars for this place. The drinks are priced on the higher end, but the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere makes it feel approachable. We also love that they offer seasonal and holiday cocktails, which is right up our alley. We brought Luna along and sat on the patio, which was a nice option. I would love to see heaters added outside to make the patio more comfortable on cooler nights. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I ordered the Fireside Chat (served warm), made with Four Roses Bourbon, Croft Tawny Port, apple cider, orange juice, grenadine, turbinado sugar, allspice, and clove ($15). I really enjoyed the flavor profile--warm, well-balanced, and perfect for the season. That said, I was a little disappointed that my second drink wasn't garnished nearly as nicely as the first, especially given the price. Flavor-wise, though, both were very good. My husband started with the Gingersnap, which includes Monkey Shoulder blended Scotch whisky, Disaronno almond liqueur, butterscotch liqueur, spiced ginger syrup, heavy cream, Angostura bitters, cookie rim, and nutmeg ($16). He enjoyed it but felt it was definitely a one-drink cocktail due to how sweet, creamy, and heavy it was. He also ordered the Smoked Maple-Bacon Old Fashioned with bacon fat-washed bourbon, spiced maple syrup, tobacco bitters, and a salted brown sugar rim ($16). This one was a miss for him--too sweet, with the maple and smoke overpowering the drink, and not much bacon flavor coming through. That said, the presentation was excellent; watching the smoke being lit was a highlight, and I even grabbed a video of it. Our total came to about $71 before tip, and we didn't order any food, so it's definitely on the pricier side. Still, for the ambiance, creative cocktails, and overall experience, I think it's worth it--especially for a relaxed night out with a more elevated feel.
