Quincy's Microtel Inn is just fine if you're looking for a safe, clean place to sleep. When I…read morevisited most of the other guests seemed to be contractors and such; the sizeable parking lot was filled with vans and trucks emblazoned with utility company names. The front desk staff person was pleasant and efficient, taking care of business quickly and pointing me toward my room. The place smelled of cleaning, which suits me just fine. The a/c in my room was chugging away, keeping the space very comfortable during a heat wave. The room was sufficient: refrigerator, microwave, and a properly stocked bathroom. The desk had a chair but only two outlets were nearby, and they were used by the refrigerator and microwave, so using a computer there or making coffee would entail shifting things around. There was a regular outlet on each side of the bed; no USB ports so bring your own adaptor to plug in your chargers! Breakfast was not great, but I never rely on hotel breakfasts any more. Hot choices included biscuits, gravy (that may or may not have included meat? I didn't sample it), and make-your-own waffles--no eggs or sausage, etc. In all, the Microtel Inn is a good value for the solo traveler or anyone who doesn't spend a lot of time in their room.

This time the room smelled, the bathroom didn't appear very clean and the wall had what appeared to be blood smears, it's been 48 hours since I checked out and my deposit hasn't made it into my account where the first stay it was immediately posted back to my account.

‼ UNSAFE // NOT SOLO OR FEMALE TRAVELER FRIENDLY // TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES ‼…read more I would like to begin by cautioning solo or female travelers to avoid this hotel due to safety concerns. Myself and my travel companion are in our late twenties and felt unsafe and uncomfortable the entirety of our weekend stay. Our trip began with a room change due to our assigned room being dirty, host to the pubic hair tumble weeds, and bedding soiled with mystery body fluids. The very kind front desk (day shift) staff were the only reason I would even consider giving this establishment a singular star, so approachable and friendly (: The woman changed our room to one that was clean. However, the following night my friend and I experienced one of the most alarming events I have ever encountered while staying in a hotel. We were awoken suddenly between 1:15AM and 2:00AM to blood curdling screaming of a near by neighbor on our floor. I can tell you with utmost certainty a woman was in distress and having a physical altercation to some degree with another person, we could HEAR it!?!? She was crying and screaming for help. To make matters worse we could hear the cries of a young child as well. When we called the front desk to report the domestic incident the woman who we spoke to (while apologetic) was VERY dismissive until I told her I was contacting the local authorities to conduct a welfare check. She then changed her tune and informed me the party had left and instructed me NOT to contact the authorities. The disturbance stopped while I was speaking with the employee of the front desk. However, this is a red flag ladies the front desk employee stated during this encounter that she's aware of the severity of the situation occurring but ‼ was not concerned enough to check on the safety of the woman involved. ‼ I would hope that if hotel staff heard me being assaulted/beaten they would call the police but do NOT hold your breath at the Americinn . Finally, upon leaving our room this morning to check out we observed a bald white male around 5'6 wearing a bright orange shirt and blue jeans walking around our floor trying to get in some of the rooms (I can assure you this man was not lost) he was checking doors to see if there were any unlocked. Very suspicious and sketchy behaviors for a man to be doing at 8:30 in the morning.

GROSS!!! My mom and I made the long trip to this area from Chicago on a holiday weekend to this…read moreshithole to find that we were going to be charged for an additional person- because the hotel charges per person and evidently I'd put 1 instead of 2 adults. So, poor 18 year-old boy behind the counter "fixed" it for us. Then we go to our room, which included driving around to where the rooms are. Lotsa folks hanging out and the room complex is all outdoors- also creepy. The room STANK and the sheets hadn't been changed- don't ask how we knew. Needless to say, we went to get refunded and go elsewhere. 18 year-old front desk boy proceeds to tell us to "hold on" when we repeatedly tell him that we want a refund, while he calls every manager he can think of. All the while, explaining that the place is skanky and that poor mummy is diabetic and the hotel breakfast has nothing she can eat (all true). 45 minutes later, we're back on the road, refund in hand. This place is a hole!!! Avoid it like the plague!

Don't do it! Stayed here for a basketball tournament...luckily just had to get through one night…read more Between the people running around outside our room until 4am, the fights out in the parking lot, and the car that crashed into the room directly below ours...we learned our lesson. Outside of that craziness, the room was on the very bottom of the quality scale...carpet and couch were stained and dirty, the shower head shook like it was about to pop off, and the bed was nasty and uncomfortable.
