We were in town for the Bronco Super Celebration at the Townsend visitor center, and this place was just across the road from there, making for an easy stop each morning on our way there. I had an iced americano each morning, and the flavor and quality of espresso was fantastic! My boyfriend had an iced latte with sugar free vanilla + caramel, and enjoyed that as well. We didn't get any food there, but the offerings looked great and several people had bagel breakfast sandwiches that I would definitely try next time! They even made cute stickers for the Bronco event, so we snagged one of those. The staff were all very kind and helpful, and the interior is cute and clean. This place is the best! My cappuccino was just perfect-strong and smooth and perfectly foamy! Dave had the caramel latte and it was great too. We bought a pound of the dark roast from Kenya for our drip coffee pot. The only place I have found that is as good in our area is Mercer's in Punta Gorda! Really nice small batch coffee roaster with good offering and service. Great atmosphere and very relaxing. Ordered avocado toast, which was a little lacking. Menu indicated two slices of toast, it was actually one, (albeit large) slice cut in half and the avocado spread was a little light. It did have good flavor though. One star removed. read more

About as good a coffee shop as one can expect outside of the Pacific Northwest! I've been twice now: both times they have had both a medium and a dark roast, Sumatran and Guatemalan last week. Really cozy, clean, and comfy, Tennessee rustic, and what looked to be delectable baked goods, and last but not least, they roast their coffees onsite! I agree that $3.50 for a large coffee may sound like a lot, but compared to the watered down version of coffee at almost every other place in Townsend, not a bad deal at all.... Great coffee is like a good hot shower: nothing like it. Bad coffee is like an unexpected cold shower: terrible! I won't get my coffee anywhere else on our next visits into Townsend. The only downside is 8am opening during the week. I and many others want a coffee along with daybreak, 630am or so. Maybe they'll start opening earlier. read more

I walked into this coffee shop to be warmly greeted by one girl. I ordered a small vanilla latte (8 oz) of which I was charged $6.59. I couldn't believe it. That's was the most expensive latte (and smallest) I had ever ordered. I was the only person in the shop but a guy I thought was an employee but he ended up being a customer. Took forever to get my latte and once it was done she fixed his iced coffee before telling me mine was finished. The muffins being offered were $4 and were from Costco ($8.99 for 12). My husband and I visited this week and brought our laptops to work. Expect them to be roasting and bagging during business hours. It was loud and disruptive. About 45 minutes later, an employee came in to work and the employees cranked Spotify over their system and blasted a song for her birthday. They started popping streamers, etc. I get wanting to celebrate your team, but this was very disruptive and disrespectful to the several people in the store working at their computers. Finally, we packed our bags to leave. As we passed the counter, the employees laughingly yelled to each other "look, you're running off the customers!!!!" We will not be back. Wonderful coffee shop with freshly roasted beans and rich, bold espresso. It's located next to an Ace Hardware and Car Wash. But, despite its humble surroundings, this is high-end coffee. I ordered a latte and it came out perfect. Inside, they have plenty of seating and some roasting equipment. The employees were very friendly and offered some suggestions about the Townsend area. I love this place! This is a true coffee house with several different coffees on tap as well as cappuccinos, macchiatos, Americanos, and lattes available. The decorations here are adorable. They have praise and worship music playing in the background. The vibe here is very calming and loving. My wife and I both had hot lattes, and they were amazing. They have freshly roasted coffee available by the pound that smells delightful. The back room has two roasters on display, apparently people can come watch the roasting process, which I would love to do. There is a small stage in the seating area for live music. I heard they have worship and other music events here. This place is a real treasure in Townsend. We always visit this place when in town, and it seems to be under new ownership. What do you need when you wake up somewhere deep in the Smoky Mountains after a day/night of driving? You need strong, strong coffee, and friendly faces. Lucky for us (and potentially for you), that's exactly what we found at The Artistic Bean. It took us about 30 minutes to get there from our cabin, but it was worth every minute spent driving. First of all, there was an adorable older man selling wood carvings outside the place, and happy people sitting around a little fire. How cute is that? It put a smile on my face, for sure. We felt welcomed the minute we walked in the door, and I was so relieved to see some quality coffee in my future. They roast their coffee in small batches, and it shows. My black coffee woke me up and kept me going all day, and my sister's "cowboy mocha" was lovely and full of spice. Guys... why has no one mentioned the fact that they make HOMEMADE WAFFLES? I so wish I hadn't eaten breakfast beforehand, because they looked incredible. It was fun to see so many families and groups of people happily eating waffles and enjoying the relaxing and cozy atmosphere. I absolutely hope to see this place again once day; it has to be the cutest place on earth during the Christmas season, so maybe I'll be lucky enough to see it then.
