The success of our project has begun to increase awareness in the community and nationwide of the value and possibilities inherent in old buildings, even those originally built for industrial purposes. We have also proved that a private initiative can be as successful as, and more efficient than, a public one. Many shared-use facilities have successfully used our formulas in planning their guidelines and strategies. The South Haven Center for the Arts has gained attention as one of the best examples of adaptive reuse and of public/private partnership. Our long-term goals are to stabilize the South Haven Center for the Arts financially, and gradually expand the services we offer to the arts community as we identify areas which are relevant to our mission and purpose. The South Haven Center for the Arts has been developed to provide our community with resources and a facility for aspiring artists to hold rehearsals, workshops and conferences in pursuit of their craft. We continue as a shaping force in the recognition and development of new talent, we must provide a permanent environment conducive to the achievement of this goal.

Quaint Michigan-owned Wine Tasting in South Haven, Michigan. One block away from the harbor…read more Visiting on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, the store was not overly crowded. My friend and I stopped there on our leisure walk. There were 4 people inside, with 2 waitresses working. We were politely greeted by Kim, who explained the "run of the land." You get 5 tastings for $12. Like most wine tastings, there are options of whites, reds, semi-sweets, and sweets. There is a $4 uncharge to try the ice wine. Although I'm usually a "Red Girl," my favorite was the Beach White and the River Stone White. My least favorite was the River Stone Dry Rosè.Rose. My friend's last favorite was the PinoPinot Grigio. I must also admit that Pinot Noir is typically my wine of choice and this one was not very good to my palate. As a pleasant treat, this establishment also offers a variety of ice cream bars from another Michigan-owned business called Icebox Brand. We did not try them, but it is reportedly delicious with options for small and large bars. Another bonus is you get to keep your tasting glasses! Overall, it was a great experience with delicious options. As a seasoned wine taster, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

The wine here was still good, and I loved that they had a little kids' area. As a parent, that was such a thoughtful touch and definitely made the visit easier. Unfortunately, the service is what brought this experience down. I stopped in twice, hoping the first visit was just an off day, but both times I left feeling like I wasn't welcome. The woman working seemed irritated and annoyed anytime we interacted. I could tell she was the only one there, so I genuinely don't blame her for being overwhelmed, but it still didn't make for a very inviting experience. The tasting room itself was okay. It's a bit dated and could use a refresh, but the biggest issue was simply the atmosphere created by the service. I really hope management can get this location some extra support. The wine is worth stopping for, and with friendlier service, this tasting room could be just as enjoyable as the main location.

Never a follow up "ping" to say "we need this". Walked in so happy. Introduced ourselves and I said, " I'm meg from California and you're doing our flowers". "No, we're not" was Lydia's reply. I was both humiliated and breathtakingly taken aback. She could do a bouquet of five roses and a button rose for the groom, but that was all. No arrangement for tables or altar. We declined. Went to Meijers and found plenty of roses. so very sad. I imagine business is great at the rose shop because our money was not good there. I want to add a thought. There was a gift given through this owner's lack. My mind went to work. My new family and my new husband all came together and we did what the Rose Shop would not. We created beauty out of Meijers fresh roses and greens and ribbons. Walmart for the vases. We all worked together and put sixteen table arrangements, an alter bouquet, and a bouquet for me, the bride. It was a splendid day and I want to thank the Rose Shop. All is well. But I would never recommend you, because of how I was made to feel. We don't remember the person, or the colors, but we always remember how we were made to feel.
