I love coming here for the exhibitions because the range of art they bring here is very diverse.  As stated on their webpage "The Krasl Art Center offers historical, contemporary and thematic exhibitions that are thought provoking, relevant and relatable."  I feel there is no better way to discribe the exhibits so I had to use their own words.  I have been coming here since I was a kid with my parents.  One thing I remember them doing when I was younger was they had an exhibit for wax sculptures and it was then I knew I loved looking at art.  I was never good at art myself, as much as I tried to be, so for me coming here to stare at art was the next best thing. Also, don't miss the Krasl Art Fair on the bluff.  It's always a great event every year.

They also have a nice area at the front of the store to sit and knit. She welcomes open knitting when she is open. I believe she so just added a late night knitting on Thursday nights. Friend and I googled yarn shops in the area and Yarn on Front came up, so off we went to Dowagiac. This little shop is a gem. It was exactly what I was looking for. Unusual yarns from trusted yarn companies. And the owner (?) was very friendly and helpful. When I told her I did a lot of knitting for charity she directed me to the discount yarn bins. There was everything from affordable yarns for every day knitting to the "wow" yarns that one only buys for special people and occasions. Another customer came in and we joked about our yarn stashes (huge but always room for more). Very friendly people! I ended up buying more yarn than I planned just because I was so comfortable with the shop. The choices of needles was huge so I was able to get a circular knitting needle that I had been looking for. It's too bad I don't live in the area as I'd be back here a lot, buying more yarns to add to my stash. It's a lovely shop.

The owner Sandee holds open paint time in addition to the scheduled classes she teaches and parties she hosts (up to twenty people). Working with many people who vary in artistic abilities, she is personable, flexible, and helpful. We are novice painters, and we chose open paint time and decided just to have fun with it. Sandee was extremely accomodating and encouraged us to use her own pieces of art for inspiration. Although she wasn't teaching, Sandee answered our questions and provided us with practical tips. Currently, this is a BYOB establishment, but she talked about waiting on a liquor license to connect to the bar she owns next door. Overall, we had a great time and look forward to coming back again!
