Enjoyed my visit and tour of the facility! Reminded me of the good old days back in the Army.

This is one of my favorite stores in the entire region. It's a genuine *surplus* store in a unique…read moresetting. Most surplus stores actually carry more new 'military-like' gear than they do actual surplus and are more like low-end outdoor/tactical shops. Those are cool and I enjoy them too for other purposes but sometimes you want actual stuff with an NSN, and Randy's shop is like 99% real surplus gear and he has a huge variety of stuff, from uniforms to chest rigs to medical, packs, pouches, holsters, pretty much everything you can think of. Given his location a lot of it is Army but I've seen plenty of uniform issue from other branches as well. He runs the shop out of his property so it's a bit tricky finding the first time, but something about taking a gravel driveway to buy surplus in an outdoors settings makes it even better. What you'll find here: - containers, rucks, packs, pouches (saw, grenade etc), camelbaks, holsters, pistol belts, poly pro, acu's, class a's msss, chest rigs and plates, ifaks and supplies, mre's, alices, molles, camo netting, eye/ear pro, helmets, way more, all real surplus. A very small handful of aftermarket non-surplus packs, and a small handful of aftermarket non-surplus accessory stuff. What you won't find here: - tons of cheap civilian sleeping bags, civilian tents, new in box work boots, rows and rows of cheap knives, fake "take a number" customer service gags, or any of the stuff that tends to dominate other 'surplus' stores. He runs this shop by himself so if you aren't in the area absolutely call ahead and make sure he's expecting you. I've been there several times and have only dropped in once when he wasn't around. Randy's also one of the nicest humblest guys you'll ever do business with. Take your time and talk with him while you shop.

Me and a buddy took a look around too and they have lots of stuff as well.

Cool store. Was greeted by the clerk and asked if I need anything to ask...So, service was good…read moreenough for me. Selection was good for a surplus store. Not high end but not junk either. If you need something Specifically for camping it seems they check all the boxes for your camping needs. I came because I needed a belt and they carried Carhartt. Prices were fair and like I said if I needed something in a pinch for camping or hunting, this place was solid. Better places out there but in this area, it is king since Dick's doesn't carry anything that might be considered a weapon.

The dude that works here is kind of funny. Funny as in odd. Impersonal. Slightly anti-social. He…read moreappears to be the owner. He barely acknowledges you when you walk in, which is kind of awkward considering the store isn't exactly packed with patrons. I actually think I spoke first and he sort of grunted in acknowledgment? Given the nature of the merchandise you'll likely be there by yourself with him.... Which is weird because there's no sound in the place. It's public library quiet. No radio, no tv, no MuZak, no clock ticking or outside traffic... nothing. I happened to stroll over because the bakery next door was out of tamales. I asked about hatchets and machetes and, from behind the counter, he pointed to the back wall and some other area. I took a tour of the store three times and eventually came back nearer to the counter and asked again. Again he gestures and tells me there's a "whole row" of hatches "over there". By the time I actually found them on the back wall, there were only two in the camping area, so was no wonder I couldn't quite locate them. The machetes were behind the counter, turns out. He mentioned the prices. Last couple questions were about Army blankets and whether he offered a military discount, which he answered politely enough. No military discount, ironically. I'm not sure if the guy is lazy or has a bad foot/knee or doesn't like to walk or interact but he doesn't have nearly enough clients to justify being so disengaged. Not sure what he's distracted behind that counter doing, but it sure isn't selling anything. Much of the merchandise I remember from my days in service (canteen kits, camos, hats) so it seems pretty authentic while other merch is kind of weekend warrior/camping type stuff, so there's a nice mix. Army green wool blanket (64x80 stamped "US" on it = $35.99. I may actually return to purchase this considering the ones on Amazon appear so cheaply made by comparison. The stuff here is only a few bucks more expensive than anything I've seen online. Interesting store. Don't be prepared to get WoW'd with much service or conversation though.
