This place has shown a bit of humor in their drinks naming during these pandemic times. It's pretty amusing and I appreciate it. Came here on a Wednesday night, the backyard was beautifully decorated with a couple other parties seated (far enough away). The staff were really friendly. I got the This Ish is Bananas which was sweet and deliciously tropical. My partner got the Mr. Litchfield which he loved, and then the Oaxaca Flocka Flame which he thought was a bit too sweet. I'm not a fan of mezcal so I didn't like it. We split the cassava puffs. These were amazing and cheesy. Would definitely order that again. COVID times assessment: The backyard is a great getaway from street seating or your couch. They space the tables comfortably far away from each other and there's hand sanitizer on every table. Bug spray around too. They have quite a few rules though so beware (time limits and $25 min spending Thurs through Saturday). read more

I really liked the decor, the bartender was quirky and my margarita was good. I came in on a whim for happy hour. I would have stayed longer but the music was too loud and it was so random and it did not fit the bar style at all. After me, 3 couples came in, and the only couple that was there when I came in left shortly after I got there. The music made me want to leave and a couple that came in after me seemed visibly annoyed and left immediately after one drink. If it was quieter and less auto-tune generic pop/ random play list it would make it a nicer vibe. read more

I tried the Armory's Bloody Mary at the Bloody Mary Fest, and it was pretty normal -- you could tell right away. It was mostly pickle juice and tomato with a bunch of peppers, Worcestershire sauce, and Old Bay seasoning, but nothing that really stood out from the rest. I'm assuming this isn't really their specialty, but they competed anyway. It was really mellow, with nothing bold or memorable about it. Plus, there was an ice cube in there, so any hope of it being super hot got watered down pretty quickly. I'd still give this location a shot at their normal spot though, because the service was pretty nice. I can't really comment on the ambience since it was a pop-up, but if they usually do events like this, it'll depend on the event. Either way, I'll try their regular location. read more

We have walked past this place many times but often it is closed for private events. On a cold Saturday evening we decided to stop in for a cocktail, There were seats with small tables, but they were all taken, so we decided to sit at the bar. The place is cozy and inviting. The bartender was efficient and non-pressuring. He handled the crowd well, since he was the only bartender on this evening. I ordered the Armory Toddy, to warm up from the cold. It was good, but a big strong for me. My daughter had the Peach Puebla, a blend of tequila, aperol, rhubarb liqueur mixed with their homemade peach tea. Their happy hour is 5-8 p.m during the week, which is longer than most places and we have heard they have a nice outdoor area when the weather is warmer. Would stop in again. read more

I fell for this place because it's beautiful, has quality drinks, good service, and pleasant patrons. I can't ask for more really except a full food menu I was supposed to meet someone who was running late and I needed food. The bartender was kind enough to tell me what's near and I came back. My first drink was not a match for my palate so he made me another and didn't charge me. I tried several others with tweaks or as is on the menu. I'm a fan of the bee hive and Texan mule with tequila. I ended up meeting several people by sitting at the bar - a couple on a date, a group celebrating, and a mother having "me" time before heading home. But the bartender here made a show of ignoring me and another couple, and we all had to clean spots at the bar for ourselves. Great spot that I had a nice first date at last week. The indoor area is very cozy and intimate and the bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable on their drinks. I will say though it was absolutely ROASTING hot inside and I'm someone that has a tendency to be cold! Since it was so hot inside we went outside to their backyard area which is soooo cute. Tons of greenery, a very Brooklyn kind of vibe. I ordered the cranberry jam whiskey drink and loved it!! So so good, a little tart, not too sweet, drank it super fast. For my second drink I had the whiskey drink with the elderflower and wasn't nuts about that one - I'm a wimp drinker and it was a little strong. I need my booze to not taste like booze lol. I hosted my best friend's Bridal Shower at the Armory this past weekend and I could not be anymore happier with the space and the staff. From the very beginning, Oscar was attentive and accommodating. Oscar and his business partner (sorry I forgot his name) were attentive, friendly, professional, and accomodating throughout the entire event. Even in such difficult times, especially for restaurants/bars, the staff at the Armory exuded so much kindness. Some of my favorite places have been unable to ride the Covid Storm. Fortunately, The Armory has smoothly transitioned into an open air, corona safe place to spend with friends. Came here for drinks with a friend on a Friday at around 6pm. The inside is really, really dark, so much so that it kind of bothered my eyes. Cocktails are reasonably priced. I asked for a non-alcoholic drink with ginger, nothing carbonated, and no straw, and my friend got a whisky ginger. We spent about $20 for the two of us. My drink had a strong ginger taste, which was great, and it was delicious, albeit a bit small. read more

Aesthetically, the bar is great. The crowd is cool and friendly. The cocktails are good. We went on a Saturday after dinner for drinks, I had two glasses of red wine and my friend had a rum cocktail and glass of white wine. There were only two bartenders working with a pretty busy crowd. Both times I got my wine, there were already lip prints on my glasses. The cups were very cloudy and sticky to the touch. Not to mention, when we got water on the way out, finally the glass was clean with bits of brown matter floating in my water. Bittersweet. We also ordered the cheese platter to munch on. The cheeses and gherkins were great, but the cheese to bread ratio was severely unbalanced leaving us with a wealth of bread and remnants of cheese. For almost as long as I've lived in the neighborhood (6 years), this space has been vacant. Years ago, it was The Mule. So imagine my surprise when I saw renovations happening whenever I walked past. Few months later, they had a soft opening, and then they finally opened. It's a little barebones, but rustic. Sure, it's hard to justify going to The Armory when I live so close by. The place was super cute when walking in with dim lighting, nice tables and a cozy atmosphere. The cocktails were delicious--I ordered the Mumbai Express and my friend ordered the Blood Orange Old Fashioned, both of which were great. I also ordered the pita and hummus plate which was also very good. The bartender was lovely and the space wasn't too crowded or loud, so definitely will be back. I've been here a couple of times now both in the winter and summer. When the weather is good they have a great casual backyard. When the weather is bad the vibe in the bar is really quiet and intimate. I would say the beehive (on the winter menu) is my favorite drink I've had thus far. I hope it makes it back onto the menu this year. I'm a sucker for anything with a sprig of rosemary in it! New found little gem at park slope, it's located on the less crowded 4th ave, met up w a girl friend after work, they offer great happy hours specials and small bite, happy hours end til 8pm, we settled on the small cozy table in the front of the bar, got our drinks at the bar, there's wines, cocktails and beer selections! It has now become a tradition that before/after the game that we go to the armory - a candlelit bar that has the best cocktails around. We end up staying till one of the latest trains. To be fair, perhaps people want tvs for football, but my Cowboys already had won by that time, so I didn't mind. To be still more fair, this place doesn't look like much from the outside, especially in comparison to the neighboring bars. Trust me, though--the quality of the drink offerings, friendly service, and laidback vibe will win you over immediately. Kevin, who runs the place, greeted me before I had the chance to sit down. After taking my seat at the cozy bar, I started with the Mr. Lichtfield, comprising Rittenhouse, vermouth, and luxardo. Simple and delicious--no random, misplaced lillet or flaming oranges here. $13 for simple perfection instead of what easily would have been a $15 over-fussy cocktail elsewhere. I followed that up with a classic negroni ($12) that I'd rank up there with Livingston Manor and Dirty Precious. Again, simple, but look behind the bar, and you'll see a well-curated selection of really good liquor. This isn't a place with 30 different types of Bols. Next time, perhaps I'll try one of the happy hour specials--wine, beer, and well cocktails for ridiculously cheap until 8 p.m. No food yet, but I understand that's coming soon. Me and my husband live on the 4th Ave and were looking for a place with good cocktails last evening when we happened to bump onto The Armory. And oh, what a cosy place it is. I like the raw interiors- less is more. The backyard looked very inviting for a summer evening. The guy at the bar was friendly from the start.
