If you are desperate for a job, don't mind rejection on the streets and understand that you are completely dispensable then you will be fine. It seemed that even though I was a fairly good campaigner (that is, I made my donation goals) I was still kicked on my ass when I came back one day with nothing. But the main reason I'm writing a negative review is because they didn't even have the decency to fire me that day. Instead I took a vacation and one staff member called to emphasise how much they wanted me back telling me not to get discouraged. I finally come back from a wonderful vacation, semi-wishing that I didn't have work to come back to. Then once I arrived back in the office I was told in the first 5 minutes that they were letting me go because of "time fraud". Apparently the entire time I was gone they had known there we going to fire me and instead of calling me up or sending me an email they waited until I returned for work only to be told I'm unemployed. That's just messed up.

At the time, I was torn between pursuing public policy or nonprofit work, but I had always enjoyed my nonprofit experience before the pandemic. Terrible, incompetent company. If I could, I would give them negative stars. In order to get in…read moretheir database, I had to go their office 3 different times, because the person in charge was always "out", or because their "system was down". I would have had to come a 4th and 5th time if I didn't insist that I finish the procedure over the phone. Every time I call to report something else they did wrong, they tell me they'll call me back, and they never do. I've even called them back to tell them they forgot to call me back, and what was their reply?: "We'll call you right back." (They never did.) I have yet to receive a paycheck I earned 5 weeks ago. After countless unreturned calls and unanswered questions, they finally told me they could put a stop payment on the first check and send me a new one. Outraged, I demanded they deposit it electronically into my bank account. They said they'd call me back, and they did... 2 days later. They told me they have sent it to my account. This was yesterday, and I have still yet to receive any money from them. And it is Friday, so I will have to wait until Monday for them to mess up and tell me they'll call me right back again. This can't be legal. Avoid at all costs.

However, where I find NOVA really comes through for its members is access to resources. During my time, I was given opportunities to attend job fairs, an event at the LinkedIn campus, and regular networking events. Every Thursday NOVA also brings in a guest speaker to present key topics. Many of these speakers are very open to providing you with free consultations where I've had the chance to get different perspectives on my resume, career coaching, and networking advice. NOVA members also get free access to LinkedIn Premium and LinkedIn Learning for a year and courses on IBM SkillsBuild for 6 months. Most importantly, what you get with NOVA is a community of advisors and members to support you so you don't feel as if you're doing this job search alone. Best of all, all of these services and offerings cost you NOTHING, as long as you live within the qualified cities. Joining NOVAworks does not guarantee you will find a job because there is no one-size-fit-all approach to job searching. As a job seeker it's important to find an approach that works best for or is most comfortable to you. Postings get very few responses compared to other, larger job posting sites. Any applicants you do get do not have to include a resume, work history, etc so to find out if they are qualified you have to contact the applicant. Sorry but I'm to busy for that. Applicants should post a resume so I can review applicants easier. This job site is a big waste of money for employers.

I have worked with various designers over the years on…read moredifferent projects and it is incredibly rare that you meet one who says they can do something at a certain price in a certain period of time and ACTUALLY follows through on that. Jordan and his team, much to my amazement, did exactly that. They designed a wonderful looking site for me after the first meeting I had with Jordan where he went through all the details he could think of in order to get a thorough idea of my project scope. I am compulsive about people responding promptly, which they did often. On top of that, sometimes I would request changes via email and the next time I looked at the test site the changes would have already been made. Their time to launch was incredibly fast. It was less than two weeks which is really impressive for a small firm when making a custom site with a lot of modifications and quite a few revisions. They actually came in UNDER the upper end of the budget Jordan had quoted me. I truly believe in quality people doing quality work.
