As a bride who had my wedding here back in October, my wedding weekend was amazing due to the endless hours of work me, my future husband, our wedding parties, and our families spent cleaning and scrubbing the Apple Blossom Inn because it was disgusting the DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING. It had me, my mom, and my mother-in-law in tears when we saw the condition of the venue earlier that week. Peggy reassured us that it would be cleaned by her "cleaning girls" on Friday. That never happened. Peggy lied to me and my family about a cleaning service that never came and had so many excuses as to why the venue was covered in dirt, mold, bugs, and filth. She is running an illegal catering business without a license and has yet to provide my family with documentation to show it wasn't illegal so do not pay for her "catering." I've kept quiet the past 5 months about my opinions of the Apple Blossom Inn because it's been hard to find the words of how incredibly disappointed I am with the quality of the venue and the amount of misled information and lies Peggy told me and me husband. Brendan, our families, and our friends are the real heroes of our wedding weekend for all they did to make the venue presentable for a wedding. I hate writing negative reviews but if Peggy would have been honest with us from the beginning then it would have been much easier to navigate through all of the issues we had with her the week of the wedding but instead she tried to cover everything up and just tell us what she thought we wanted to hear. She tries to do too much by herself and it comprises the quality of her services. I'm sure she will reply to this comment with more lies and excuses about how happy Brendan and I were with her services but honestly she was the biggest cause of our stress leading up to our big day. I feel taken advantage of and highly recommend that if you want a wonderful wedding experience do not book the Apple Blossom Inn. The photos I've included were taken the DAY BEFORE the wedding. Peggy will claim that this is what we signed up for when we agreed to use her "used" items but these belong in the trash and are nowhere near the quality needed for an event as formal as a wedding. read more

I would like to begin by saying this place is deceptive from the owner to the house itself. Where do I begin, first of all her name was Margaret Snead when we booked the venue and it was then called Willow Manor. We went there originally on a venue fair to check out venues in that area. It also is not a plantation not as Apple Blossom or Willow Manor. It was never a plantation. She is a talker and stretches the truth. The place was really nice when we booked it then we went to take the other venders there and the 60 inch tv was gone she claimed a bride had taken it. The house was dirty the kitchen was had flies and ants and my caterer couldn't use it she set up a kitchen outside for the reception. Then she had faulty wiring and I had rented a generator and had to use it for the tent. She is a dishonest person she kept my clients deposit for a light she claimed one of the guest ran over and I had an electrician come and check it and it was repaired and working and she still kept the deposit. I would not recommend this place to another client. She had a dance floor and it was falling apart so I had to rent one I saw her under the new name of Peggy Snead and Apple Blossom Plantation on facebook and I knew it was the same person because she was still using the Huppa I had made for my bride that I told her she could keep and is probably using now as a feature....it was on her pictures painted black. I am so glad that my client had great photographers so and an event planner that went the extra mile. PLEASE BEWARE OF MARGARET SNEAD OR PEGGY SNEAD WILLOW MANOR OR APPLE BLOSSOM PLANTATION because she is a con artist...she is also a fast talker and a lawyer. But please examine the place fully before you have your event there. The place does have potential but needs someone else to buy it. And the health department can't catch her because she says it is a private residence...but promotes it as a bed and breakfast. There are some legitimate B&B's in the area but that is not one...Just do your homework and check with the health department to see if she is listed now because she wasn't. Ann C read more

I am a professional photographer who has worked several weddings at Apple Blossom Plantation. It's my favorite venue! There is such a feeling of beauty & elegance the minute you turn into the driveway - it just screams class! It has that southern plantation feel that is carried from the outside to the inside. While at the same time offering spacious areas and the private outdoor dining area and dance floor is just perfect for a wedding celebration. The staff dresses professionally, is always friendly and smiling and takes their jobs seriously. They treat all the guests as anyone would expect to be treated in such an elegant environment. True professionals. Since I've been to several weddings there, I am lucky enough to have tasted probably everything that is offered from their menus. I've not been disappointed yet! The food is always delicious and then there's that chocolate fountain... yum! Not long ago, I attended a charity event for the American Cancer Society put on by Apple Blossom. This gave me an opportunity to see what it is like, first hand, to be a guest! Wow!! I like that better than working - ha! I wanted for nothing, felt completely comfortable and enjoyed wonderful food. Doesn't get much better than that... I would HIGHLY recommend this venue, and especially to bride and grooms. It is a venue I wouldn't overlook when you're shopping around - it's such a classy place. Because it's a bed & breakfast also - the bride & groom can stay there overnight (in a beautiful bridal suite!) and there are other rooms where some of their guests may also. After being notified of our brothers death (a sheriffs deputy in Charles city) our family traveled to Virginia to be with him and stayed in a local hotel while making necessary arrangements. There was our Mother and step father, one brother and three sisters and our spouses along with 9 of Michael's 14 nieces and nephews. At some point after arriving We were contacted by Peggy Snead who opened the doors of the Apple Blossom Plantation to our family so that we could all be together during this very difficult time. This was such a comfort to us, we needed to be together and the Apple Blossom had everything and more to make us all feel at home. The adults stayed in the beautiful spotless rooms and the children camped out in sleeping bags on the floor. We were greeted in the morning with hot coffee and juice , home made coffee cake and cereal for the kids as well as other treats. After the long days of mourning our brother with his coworkers, friends and the community we were able to go back to a place that felt like home and sit around the beautiful pool and garden with our children and remember our brother. On our last night there we had a bonfire in the fire pit by the pool, we not only made smores, we made a memory there that night a memory with our brother Michael that would not have been possible if not for Peggy Snead and the Apple Blossom Plantation. My fiance and I cannot thank you enough for your hospitality, your generosity, and your flexibility in working with us. Despite the weather, we were quite impressed with Apple Blossom when we visited. The house is beautiful and the facilities are gorgeous. My parents were very impressed, as well. Unfortunately, all of our guests will be out-of-towners; the dearth of hotels in the area is of great concern to us, particularly because we know many of our guests will want to "imbibe." If Apple Blossom were anywhere else or if our guest list were a bit smaller, it would likely have been our first choice for our wedding festivities. Obviously many other couples have worked around this, and your staff is more than generous in offering to rent us shuttles and personally offering to drive guests home! My fiance, especially, is disappointed that we won't be able to use the plantation. He really liked the idea of the groom getting tossed into the pool at 2 a.m.! We will be highly recommending Apple Blossom to anyone and everyone who asks where we've looked! The biggest selling point, at least for me, is the lengths to which you and your staff are willing to go to accommodate brides and grooms. From the moment we met you at the wedding expo in January, we could not stop talking about the all-inclusive nature of the plantation, and the very reasonable cost. I am a widower and have had the joy (and emotional hardship) of planning my daughter's wedding. Apple Blossom Plantation made the process of planning this special event very easy. I have never met a gal more excited about what she does than Peggy Snead. I think that Ms. Snead is in her 20th year of hosting and planning events and this is reflected in her level of knowledge and enthusiasm. She makes the wedding weekend at the manor as perfect as possible for the families involved. We paid to rent the entire plantation for the weekend - Friday to Sunday. My guests stayed at the manor house the night prior to and the night of the wedding reception. Each room was named and decorated in the particular color. My favorite was the the "yellow" room and the man cave on the first floor (with the big tv!). The food was excellent, the staff was attentive and everything from beginning to end went off without a hitch. The plantation sits on 20 plus acres with no noise or time restrictions whatsoever. After my daughter and son-in-law had the staged exit, they came back to enjoy the company of our closest family and friends. We all stayed to relax and party for hours longer. My sister was married at Apple Blossom Plantation in April 2012. We were worried about the weather in the early spring, but everything worked out perfectly. The entire weekend was magical. Our family came to visit during the week to decorate and "make the plantation our home." Then we arrived on Friday morning and relaxed until Sunday evening. In addition to a beautiful ceremony and awesomely fun wedding reception that lasted until 2 am, the most special part of the entire event was the relaxed time that we all had together. It was truly like owned a southern plantation for the weekend. Peggy Snead and her staff were absolutely amazing. My sister was over the moon happy with every single detail. There were fires in the fireplaces of the plantation at the same time that some crazy family members chose to swim in the pool! We played corn hole and volleyball the night before the wedding. It was the most relaxed and enjoyable family wedding any of us could ever remember. I just don't understand some of the other reviews on this site. You need to do your own research, go with your heart and trust those brides or clients who you can speak to and ask honest opinions. I would love to renew my vows at Apple Blossom one day! The owner (Peggy Snead) and staff were extremely helpful, pleasant and professional. They exceeded our expectations. All of our requests were followed up in a timely manner. The plantation was absolutely perfect for our wedding and has such a warm atmosphere. It was so easy to accommodate our theme. She even went out of her way to accommodate having our wedding reception on New Year's Eve by bringing in a large screen TV for all to watch the Ball drop in Times Square. One of the best things for us was being able to spend the night and also to have the extra rooms for our family with little ones to stay. Since we have family that came in from great distances, this allowed us to spend extra time with them. Not only was the food terrific and tasty the evening of the reception but also the buffet breakfast in the morning! Peggy's expertise as a wedding planner was also very helpful at the Church and she ensured the ceremony went off without a hitch. She even went the extra mile to jump in and assist with the little ones. She kept all on time and where they needed to be, while maintaining the utmost respect to the Priest and customs of the Church. The Apple Blossom Plantation was where our family stayed for my daughters wedding weekend. The wedding was in a nearby county & we lucked into this Venue / B&B when our Lodgings suddenly changed. We were able to have our rehearsal dinner there & the whole family stayed onsite. There's a pool, hot tub, fire pit , nearby golf course & skeet shooting. Something for everyone ! A huge covered back patio with dance floor is perfect for receptions, and out front you can get married by the fountain. We were only able to get this venue on short notice due to a deployment and marriage that had taken place earlier instead of our weekend. If we could have had the entire wedding there - we would have !!! Our guests stayed in nearby bed and breakfasts , & Peggy arranged for an awesome Luxury Van to transport us to the wedding site . She will anticipate your every need and run interference when needed :) The food is fantastic too , sumptuous breakfast buffets . The Bridal Suite is huge & most rooms have pull out sofas - a great time was had by ALL ! This Venue is great for Weddings, Anniversary parties, Birthdays & Hosting Charity Events . I cannot even begin to describe how FANTASTIC my wedding was. It was this past weekend, 10-20-12 and Peggy went ABOVE and BEYOND. I am keeping this short as my reviews tend to get deleted as I don't spend much time on here. I will keep doing this until it works though! I absolutely cannot recommend this place more. People couldn't stop telling me how nice the location and plantation was in general. All of our vendors were recommended by Peggy the venue owner/proprietor and each and every one of them were fantastic and professional and nice! Also affordable! Peggy was there all week long before the wedding, was an integral wedding coordinator and made everything run so so smoothly. She ahd button-up emails leading up to the wedding, we were always in contact (all 10 months prior) and I have people texting and emailing me right now to tell me it was the best wedding they've attended! Thank you SO much Apple Blossom Plantation and Peggy Snead! I know I'm gushing but I just married a great guy and had a wonderful experience. Peggy is truly amazing. Not only is she the venue owner, but she also comes as a complimentary wedding planner! Is that where she stops? Only if you want her to. She also does catering, has the inside deals for flowers, cupcakes, hair & make up teams, DJ's and more! ANYTHING you could ever need or want for a wedding, she has, or could get you. Do you have to use her vendors? Nope, sure don't, AND SHE DOESN'T CHARGE EXTRA IF YOU DON'T! She is also very accommodating and so easy to work with. I have bridesmaids from hell (not all of them, but 2), indecisive, etc., but she helped me through that and many other personal issues related to family things; WHILE STILL PUTTING TOGETHER MY WEDDING FOR ME! My wedding is totally untraditional, and Peggy has not missed a beat. We have multiple traditions included in our ceremony, and I have a lot of creative ideas that Peggy has helped piece together to make everything cohesive. The space is BEAUTIFUL, and the service is PHENOMENAL! I just wanted to state that I too had a wedding and reception held at the Apple Blossom in July 2011. It in fact was my daughters wedding. From the moment we pulled up in the driveway she new this was the place. I could not have asked for a better experience. It was my daughters dream come true wedding. Peggy made sure that my daughter was the Princess of the day. She kept to the traditions of the groom does not see the bride before the wedding. She helped us every step of the way. The food was wonderful, the service was excellent. If I had any concern Peggy was right there to take care of them. You are going to get negative and positive feedback because some people just can not be pleased. I also read the reviews but was told a long time ago not to believe everything you hear. If you want to know something then you need to investigate yourself. Just book an appointment with Peggy and talk with her , tell her what you want and she will help you to achieve it. If I could give Peggy & ABP 100 stars, I would! My husband and I were married again on June 17th just after our 1 yr ann. We wanted to have a medieval ceremony with swords and archery in the woods, and Peggy made our dream come true! She even had landscapers come in to clear the forest for us, as there had never been a forest ceremony at ABP before. Peggy is full of energy and ideas, and I can honestly tell you that I never felt any stress AT ALL leading up to or during that amazing weekend! We rented ABP for the whole weekend and it was just a giant party done exactly how we wanted with no restrictions on what we wanted. I can't explain in words how grateful we are for Peggy & ABP. We had an amazing weekend that we will never forget. We're already discussing an anniversary ceremony there again in the future! :) ** I forgot to add VERY DOG FRIENDLY! If I could give this place a negative score I would. I have written my review once before about how terrible and filthy the plantation is but it was taken down. I guess Ms. Snead cannot take the truth. I also sent my complaint to the BBB and she tried to threaten to sue me if I did not retract my statement. Unfortunately for her I do not take to bullying. I do not recommend anyone use this plantation. There was trash left from the wedding that took place the weekend before, a cheesecake that was so old that it had dead ants imbedded in it, the pool was green, there were things stolen (if she offers you a coaster that you could put a picture in.... They are ours), she was seen taking a basket of food that was left for the bride and groom to her garage and she got drunk while she was supposed to be doing her job. My wife Kim and I have been coming here for our wedding anniversary for the last 2 years. We were married here July of 2013 and it is one of my most treasured memories, a big part of that is due to the owner Ms Peggy. The ceremony was great, Peggy coordinated just about everything. The reception was epic. My wife and I along with our closest friends and family threw down and enjoyed the dance floor and the pool without worries of a checkout time or noise regulations. But enough about that...... Ms Peggy is the reason we keep coming back. She is very hospitable and always welcoming. Apple Blossom gets 5 stars as both a wedding venue and a bed and breakfast. I am still in the planning process and looking for a venue in 2014, but so far Apple Blossom has been amazing to work with. I just recently moved from VA to CA and Peggy has been fantastic in making this a smooth, fun and enjoyable process. I only have one opportunity and weekend to fly back to VA and look at the venue and Peggy made sure to not only take care of my needs and schedule, but also those of her bride that has a wedding on the Saturday I am touring the Plantation. Peggy even asked that I text her when I am leaving the airport so that she can have ice tea and water ready when I arrive! Peggy and her team are amazing and I would highly recommend their location. They are wonderful to work with, respond quickly to emails, and provide thorough information when requested. read more

I have now been to this plantation three times in the past two years. It started off with my best friend's wedding last May, 2010. I thought that I could handle the coordination - yikes! Thank goodness for Peggy Snead. She has such a love of life, of people and especially her job. She helped with every single detail, from the invitations to the catering choices, to the paper lanterns in the tent. On the day of the wedding the house was filled with candles, the smell of great food and great friends and family having a super time! Since then, my cousin and a work associate have also been married here. Each wedding was fabulous and very special in its own way. Five stars probably aren't enough. Being from Denver, it was a long way to travel for my cousin's wedding, but well worth it. I had never been to a wedding at a plantation -- in Denver, everyone has their weddings in the mountains! This plantation was gorgeous ... we even got to use some of the rooms as a bed and breakfast, making it an even more intimate experience. We made a weekend out of it -- lounging by the pool and playing tennis too. With most of the weddings I attend, the food tastes like rubber chicken. The food at Apple Blossom Plantation was scrumptious. And how gorgeous are the trees in the Fall? The DJ was a lot of fun and got everyone up and moving (even my husband who has two left feet). Where do I begin? There are so many wonderful things to say. Peggy was very helpful, insightful, and she (and her staff) were extremely accommodating. A well-experienced wedding consultant like Peggy, was prepared to help us with a multitude of tasks, and even went the extra mile by jumping in where needed beyond what we had asked. Apple Blossom Plantation was a perfect setting for our wedding reception. The food was fabulous! It was a bonus that were able to enjoy staying overnight. The next morning's brunch was perfect!
