I almost didn't check this place out because I personally don't think damaged goods are worth it but wow am I glad I did! All of the items I purchase were in perfect condition. Two of the items I purchase were distressed in nature so that probably also helps haha. They have signs around the store that describe where the damage is and on the tag of each item is shows the where the damage is, however on the items I found there was just no damage! Purchases: Sam Edelman Henna Bow Slides size 8 $10 (retail $90+) Free People Rainbow distressed Britney Tee size L $5 (retail $68) Chaser peace sign distressed tank $10 (retail $30+) BP (Nordstrom brand) blanket scarf $5 (retail $20+) Total savings of $115.20 I spent less than an hour looking through the store and I'm sooo happy with my purchases. So I'm kinda cheating here by writing a similar review here that I did for the Annex on Riverside, but same same, I love them both SO MUCH. The perk about this location is that it's closer to Uptown/SLP, and if you don't like anything here (what's wrong with you), then you can go to it's sister, Optiz, for great high end and high quality brand name stuff without imperfections! So this place isn't your typical consignment store. There's so many around the area that that market is saturated and boring. No, this is a store for high end clothing that is slightly imperfect. This could mean a makeup stain from someone who tried it on in the store, a small fabric tear, a broken zipper, or a snag in the material. The imperfections range in size and severity. These clothes have never been owned--the luxury brand tags are always still attached! Annex gets shipments in 6 week cycles. The first few weeks are full price ($15-$25...still dirt cheap for high quality brands!) and the clothes that usually go during this time are the nice brands with very small imperfections. Next, the store marks ALL clothes down to $10 for a few weeks. Then to $5 for about a week. Then......$3 for two days!!! I pretty much only go during the $3 days because I love to hunt for the last treasures standing. I will add that they do have a newsletter, which at the bottom will tell you what "phase" they are on--$10, $5, and so on. That can help you plan your attack. I get the best deals here. Michael Kors, Free People, and Loft are a few of my favorite brands I get here for dirt cheap. You do have to be willing to either stitch up an imperfection or live with a slightly impaired product, but if perfection isn't a requirement for you, you have to check this place out! They have awesome bags and shoes too, but these don't go on sale typically. Shoes range from $5-$25--some have no visible imperfections, but stay away from ones with broken straps or other things not worth trying to fix. Bags usually have a little black mark or something easy to look past, and they sell great bag brands like Michael Kors and Cole Haan. I cannot emphasize enough how much I love this place. All my friends know when I wear something new that I got it for $3 at Annex. If you're willing to fix a small imperfection or look past it, this is the place for you! Happy hunting :) read more

This is a good option for college students on a budget or a seamstress looking to revive an outfit with defects. The Annex was recommended to me by a local Minnesota friend. This was my second time visiting and the second time I walked out with nothing. Upon entering, the store smelled very funky and the floors were dirty. I assumed this store would be a notch above Salvation Army or Goodwill, but it needs a little TLC. The presentation and layout of the store needs to be revamped. There are some higher end used articles of clothing, but the presentation is very poor. I browsed the shoe selection first and noticed they were selling bundles of shoes for $3-$10 tied together. This is something that should be in the back of the store in a designated clearance section, not located near the entrance. There were shoes with rhinestones or straps missing being sold right alongside the ones without defects. The clothes had rips and holes in them. You have to look over the clothing very well before purchasing. The racks were jam packed with tops and blouses. It was a struggle just to browse through. I am sure they would sell more stuff if the shoppers could actually see the clothing. It appears that they also get new items. They had small rolling luggage bags that may have been donated, but they were selling them for $80-$100. I've seen similar bags sell for $50 at Marshall's and TJ Maxx. I really want to like this store, but it's a confusing place to shop. It's like digging for gold. The Annex is like Optiz's scrappier, party girl of a sister, who keeps on keepin' on even with bumps and bruises and torn stockings and stains all over her shirt... and maybe a missing shoe. It's an outlet for an outlet. If you don't mind scouring racks and racks of mostly items that are bruised beyond repair in hopes of finding something absolutely incredible... come here. As I mentioned in my older review, last spring I found a drool-worthy $300 Parker dress missing maybe six easily replaceable sequins and it was marked down to $50. FIFTY BUCKS. Most of the rips and stains that you will run across here are not so easily mended (check your merchandise thoroughly!), but I will gladly play this game of hide-and-seek again and again if there's a chance of finding another treasure like that dress. They don't take returns, but one time they did let me return a pair of leather gloves I bought without realizing that they were two left-handed gloves. I realized it while I was getting into my car in their parking lot, so that's probably why they made the exception. read more

The phrase that comes to mind when shopping at the Annex is hit or miss. You win some but might lose most. The shop is basically an off-shoot of the original Opitz Outlet store right next to it. The store is much smaller, but they still sell designer markdowns, up to 90%, I believe, dependent upon how bad the item is damaged or flawed. Sometimes, you can luck out and find something that has minimal or easily repairable damage for $50 or less, but other times, the damage/flaw may not be worth the purchase. They also sell knickknacks, kitchen items, and other various and sundry items for cheap, as well. It's almost like the dollar store...on steroids..with designer labels. LOL I went there a couple of years ago and found a sweet deal on a Marc by Marc Jacobs overnight bag that was originally $300, marked down to $75. The only thing wrong with the bag is that there are strings coming off of the handles. That's it! No other damages or flaws. I really like being able to go in there and find a deal like that, but as I wrote above, the mileage may vary as far as finding a good deal on deeply discounted, clothes, shoes, purses, etc., with flaws/damages that aren't too bad. I, personally, think it's a bargain hunter's gold mine, and sometimes, ya gotta dig deep to find the treasure. ;) read more

I'm all for hunting though loads of crap to find a good bargain and I'm even open to slightly damaged items in order to save a ton of money. The Annex, however, is for those looking for scrap material or who are seeking a "derelique" look a la Zoolander. The clothes here are so damaged it's sort of unbelievable that any of them sell, even at $3 as most are not remotely salvageable. They do had a nice selection of mismatched shoes with different sizes for left and right feet. If you have different sized feet, this store actually might be a great option for you. Are you crafty? Do you know how to sew a button, mend a tear or spot a stain? Then is the the place for you! Most of the items are not that badly damaged and what's nice is they have a tag on each item the circles where the damage is on the item so you can find it quickly and see if it's something you can work with. I remmend this place for any kind of costume as you probably won't wear it again and it doesn't have to be perfect. Also a lot of stuff you could layer something over it and hide the offending defective part. And if your crafty or even have the slightest idea how to thread a needle I'm sure much could be fixed. I bought a black and grey ombre scarf here for $10 and I've still yet to find anything wrong with it...it's beautiful! Top Tip! If you have different sized feet... like one foot is a 6 and the other is a 6 1/2 you will be in heaven here... Tons of half sized off shoes all under $5! read more

Fellas! Listen up. This place is not only for ladies. Guess what? They got us covered. The Annex is next door to Opitz and has its own parking lot. Compared to Opitz, the Annex is like the younger goth sister who only shops at co-ops, rides her bike everywhere and sneaks out her window at 14 with her fake ID on hand. One thing you have to bring here is patience. You will definitely be scouring racks and racks of mostly items that are beyond repair in hopes of finding something absolutely awesome - and you will. One of my best wins here was a Rag + Bone dress shirt priced at $325 originally and marked down to $5. FIVE FREAKIN' AMERICAN DOLLARS Y'ALL. So yes, there are huge wins to be had, again, just practice patience A majority of the rips and stains that you will run across here are not so easily mended so make sure you check the tag for the flaws listed and buy at your own risk. To me, this the challenge I most enjoy (it's the competitive Gemini in me). But I'll spill my secret: I have the best Tailor in town. So if I feel an item has life to it - I pull the trigger. Worst-case scenario is you'll end up donating it to the Goodwill (tax write-off anyone?) DISCLAIMER: They don't take returns/exchanges. Check everything out, don't get excited and just throw it in your bag. p.s. If you have a lady friend with funky feet, you know, when one foot is a 5.5 and the other is a 6? Yea? Got one of those? I know how to sew. I own a sewing machine. I am crafty. However, the possibility of finding anything good here is so remote, that I think its a complete waste of time. I have been here on a numerous occasions, yet I have never found anything worthy. I tried. I am sure someone some time ago found something amazing here, and that how the fairy tale started, but in reality, its yucky and most of the clothes is way too damaged to even be worth $5. read more

I love this place! All of their stuff has flaws, but if you can do some stain removal or light mending you will love it as much as I do! You do have to do some looking, but they tell you on the tag what is wrong. They return policy sucks as well, but you know what you are getting. read more

I mostly buy stuff here to add to my craft projects: since all the clothes/bags here are damaged, you can get one for a buck and remake it into something else. But again, only if you are into crafting like me:) read more

Found this place by accident after visiting the "Fancy Goodwill" store next door- Found 2 pairs of Adrienne Vittandani dress pants orig=$58, marked down to $5.8 due to a broken zipper (easily fixable if you know how to sew), a really nice skirt suit by Tahari (missing button on blazer fixable since the extra buttons were included in a little envelope on the tag and a slightly split seam at the end of the zipper easily fixed with some handsewing) orig $140 marked down to $28 , a nice strapless silk chiffon dress with a broken invisible zipper orig $150 marked down to $15, and a pair of leather ankle boots by SteveMadden retail $80 marked down to $20 since they were a 1/2 size difference. Partner found a pair of Nautica khaki for $5 (some pulls in near the back pocket, not noticeable if you wore a jacket or a longer shirt) and a pair of Hilfiger jean with a slight stain near the inside bottom hem for $8. Don't know what people are complaining about when they say nothing can be found here. I spent about 45 minutes and came out with plenty. Helps if you know how to do a bit of sewing or have a sewing machine. read more
