I regret moving here and wish I could go back and choose somewhere else.
From the start, management has been completely uncommunicative. They do not answer phone calls and the office is frequently unavailable during advertised office hours.
Staff lock the doors, sit on their phones, and stare at residents as if we are the problem for needing assistance.
They enter work orders without permission and mark them "ENTER UNIT," allowing maintenance to attempt to barge into my home with zero consent. When I answered the door, I was met by two aggressive, rude maintenance workers who made me feel uncomfortable and refused to take no for an answer.
After I asked them to schedule a time to come back, they became angry. The next day I received a call from the supervisor with the same pressuring attitude, telling me to "just go walk your dog."
When I reported this behavior (including concerns about how the interaction made me feel unsafe) to the office manager in an effort to prevent it from happening again, I received an email the following day accusing me of being disrespectful and "accusatory" toward staff. This felt retaliatory.
Most recently, while I was cleaning my unit, I briefly placed a trash bag outside my door (for roughly five minutes) so I could mop. I immediately received an email notifying me that I am not allowed to have trash outside my unit -- as if someone was watching and waiting for any small reason to cite me.
Is this what a good management company does, Greystar?
I would not recommend The Alder to anyone. read more
