Both of us always wanted to try shooting and we are complete noobs. Ben welcomed us on a very short notice. He was very knowledgeable and guided us thru the process. We felt very secure the whole time and quite enjoyed ourselves at his jokes and anecdotes. At the range we had an absolute blast. We were expertly eased into the experience and Ben stayed with us at all time making sure we were safe and facilitating the harder parts of the experience. The whole staff was very friendly and helpful. Would absolutely recommend!

I said we had brought our own ammunition - told we had to use their ammunition in the rental gun. After firing one cylinder full (of their ammunition) I opened the gun to find the extractor would not work. Took it to counter and asked for assistance. Was told to hit the ejector rod on the counter! No more shooting of that gun for me. On signing out they could not find my drivers license (required as security when renting). Counter staff insisted I check my wallet multiple times. Then when they couldn't find my license simply faded from sight. I asked to speak to the manager who finally determined that they had given my license to a previous renter!! Manager called the other renter who generously returned and exchanged licenses. In my estimation these people could organize a sack race much less run a gun store/rental gun range.

I went to the RCGA Golf Centre at Four Seasons the other day to hit a few balls with my lady, and I…read morewas pretty impressed with the whole operation. RCGA offers a two-level driving range. We chose the upper tier because my lady figured it offered the best cover, since she's new to swinging a club. It was the perfect day for it - sun was shining, the weather was sweet. It cost $10.50 for a medium bucket of balls, which provided for a good hour of entertainment. If the driving range isn't your thing, they also have a 9-hole par 3 course, and an 18-hole natural grass putting course, both with stadium lighting. Best of all, the driving range is heated and open year round. In other words, no matter what time of year it is, when the mother-in-law visits and wants to take the umpteenth visit to Ikea, you can drop her off and go take out your frustrations on a bucket of balls. It's a bit tricky to find, so make sure to visit their website for the detailed map and instructions.

I actually used to go to Dr. E.P. Scarlett and had no idea there was a dog park here (although I…read morewalked from Braeside/Pump Hill so I knew that people walked their dogs along 14th St). It's fairly small as far as dog parks go but it's really not too bad. It's got a big hill, so if you've got a dog that will fetch you could throw the ball up the hill to wear your dog out (or have one person at the top and one at the bottom, calling the dog back and forth). There are some trees, which is nice, and it's mostly fenced. Warning: towards the turnoff from Anderson on to Macleod, the fence disappears, so if your dog does know what a "street" is you may want to recall him/her before you get too far so there are no squealing tires. If your dog likes to exercise his/her voice, as mine does occasionally, this may not be the best option... there are houses right down the hill and it echoes pretty loudly. And it does get loud on the Anderson Rd side (as if you hadn't expected that). Parking was pretty easy - there are some spots along the road that leads into the entrance of the off leash park.
